I wouldn't be surprised if certain series only got original stages on one version or the other, and Sakurai recycled past stages to save time. So DK gets new stage in WiiU version but recycled stage in 3DS version, etc.

I've never played Mother but I assumed it was like Final Fantasy where all main titles are disconnected from the each other.

I'll say one thing: That render of Shulk actually makes him aesthetically appealing to me. He no longer looks like a clusterfuck of sweater vests, belt buckles, etc., like he does in his art. I mean, I'm sure those details are all still there, but he translates to HD 3D better than anticipated.

Why would you ever cut Lucas and Wolf then bring in Dr. Mario? Dark Pit and Lucina at least make sense because of their strong ties to the base character they would be cloned from (Marth and Pit) and the fact that they're pretty popular. Who was championing Dr. Mario as anything more than an alt? Also Ice Climbers gone? That would be a huge mistake.

The GBA port retranslation by Mato is really great and has an Easy Ring equip option that makes the game much more playable. I highly recommend it.

Only things I can think of that were crude was Warios Fart and MAYBE snake saying he had to take off his gear to catch samus.

Content indicators don't define their reasoning for the rating, they just explain certain elements of the content. You can get an E10+ with Mild Suggestive Themes or a T with Mild Suggestive Themes. They'll be more intense in the T rating, since they're applied relative to the content, but they're in no way a defining factor of the content rating.

It sets up the villain for Mother 2/EarthBound, but not in NEARLY as big a way that 2 goes into 3. You don't have to know a dang thing about M1 to get everything out of 2, but M1's a good game if you can get through it.

edit: And yeah, Easy Ring from the GBA fan translation helps a lot. Wish I had that sucker my first playthrough.

SmashGAF is playing Horde Mode, every round is a new fucking "leaker" trying to fool us with an array of equally fake images, some of them are smart, some are stupidly elaborate, other are pretty dumb, and other are half assed, at the start of the round when they try to pull our heart strings we're always like "wow wtf is this I don't think I can debunk such a complex leak" and it seems as if we couldn't look through them but we always find the way, by staying side by side, together, we find the strenght to pull through and defeat those ridiculously generic beasts with incredibly limited AI, with the power of objectivity, and love.

My theory, if it's real:

They're doing more to differentiate Lucas and Wolf from Ness and Fox/Falco, respectively. This takes more time. For the purposes of getting the game out the gate, they're rounding out the roster with some marginally different filler clones -- Dr. Mario being a popular vet from Melee, Dark Pit being an opportunity to represent more weapons from Kid Icarus Uprising. Game comes out, they finish up DLC, and release it later to sustain momentum and generate a second revenue stream (should they charge).

Correct. If Snake was the reason Brawl got a T and he was removed from Smash 4's base game granting it an E10+, they'd likely have to pass it by ESRB if he were DLC.

That's a lot of ifs for a big hypothetical.

They aren't really clones but nonetheless, the vast majority of the work for them has already been done. Unless major overalls are planned for their movesets its hard to imagine it would be more cost effective, given time constraints, to make more clones than just update characters that have already been completed.

My only thought on why Doc, Lucina, and Dark Pit would be down at the bottom instead of with their series is if that's the "clones" section. It's kind of weird, but didn't it kind of work like that in Melee? Wasn't Ganondorf next to Captain Falcon?

Nah, he was just sent them by someone else. No idea where they originated.

Anyway it looks like people have pretty confidently debunked them now. I wouldn't mind them being real though, since that duckhunt dog render looks nice. I'd find it pretty funny if they did turn out to be real.
