Was Wilson's sidearm in a hip holster while he was driving? Was he right handed? Was his gun holstered on his right hand hip?
Think about the mechanics, physics and body movement involved in reaching though an open car window,
And also, forget that practicality of doing that. And go back to the "why" of it.
Even in the worst case scenario the PD is trying to infer - that Brown thought the cop knew he'd been in a mild altercation in a convenience store - that's how the convenience store has repeatedly defined the scenario (questions still remain about that - did he pay, didn't he pay, why was there a ruckus about the cigars themselves etc etc etc). Even in the WORST case....
Why would he reach for the
gun? The PD may be trying to paint it as a felony, but even if an illegal action had taken place earlier in the day, why would he reach for the cop's
gun? That is fucking CRAZY. Reaching for a cop's gun is genuinely crazy. Like suicidal/homiidal. No other way to think about that action. The
peak of your escalation path.
I could imagine a teenage asshole sassing a cop easily.
I could imagine an argument get heated and get to a punching or shoving stage.
I could imagine all sorts of escalation scenarios EVENTUALLY leading to shots fired.
But this is being painted as the IMMEDIATE reaction from Brown - a dude we saw earlier in the day resort to a simple
shove, didn't even ball a fist.
