That forever was officially revealed around 4:15 EST (we found it just before 4 IIRC). We still have some time to go before it gets that ridiculous.

Donkey Kong series came first. Obviously Mario isn't a subseries of DK, so why should it be the other way around?

A case could have been made for Wario before the WarioWare series came out, but that boat's sailed. Warioware is so fundamentally different from Mario that only Wario himself is recognizable from the Mario universe.

I think of Yoshi as a "twin" series instead of a subseries, if that makes any sense. The series both continue to develop separately from each other, but also intersect at various points. But that's semantics. From a gameplay perspective, I feel like they both differ enough and evolve in different way to qualify them as separate series. But it's definitely debatable.

This screams fake if only because the ESRB doesn't actually receive copies of games. They are sent a video of the most objectionable or graphic parts of a game, and make their verdict based on that.

They don't get pre-release copies of anything.

Is it disrespectful if Nintendo themselves considers those characters to be in the same umbrella as the Mario series?

The keyword here is 'universe'. Sure, they play differently, but that is the case for some franchises that share the same universe as others. Manhunt and GTA evolved into two totally separate beasts, but do in fact share the same fictional universe. And like those, Nintendo was able to branch off some of those lines of games with different focuses, even if some of them bleed together like NSMB2's focus on coin collection being more of a Wario-themed game than a Mario-themed game.

If this leak burnt up so much of the thread, I doubt 13 will survive the final onslaught of pre-launch leaks.
