Donkey Kong and Wario games are very much separated from the rest of the Mario universe, despite their Mario origins (well, Mario originated from DK, but whatever). Calling them Mario characters would be disrespectful to their respective series'. The only thing that still connects them to Mario these days are spinoffs.

It's harder to make a case for Yoshi who's games share a lot with Mario (enemies and characters) but still.

I'd be sad about IC for people who used them, but won't miss them myself. I have no idea who chorus men/RH are so it means nothing. DHD and Bowser Jr, now that sounds amazing.

Duck Hunt Dog is legit as fuck. I've wanted him as a crazy retro character FOREVER.

But he's not enough to justify Dark Pit and Dr. Mario, and also there's no way we're not getting the Ice Climbers or a Rhythm Heaven guy. I believe this in my kokoro heart.

Also that Ganondorf render looks like total trash. The varying quality is so weird. The Duck Hunt and Dr. Mario renders look GREAT but then Ganondorf is this horrifying blob. Not to mention those god-awful "in-game" screenshots.

Even if you think it's real, why would you want to believe?

Also the freedom of not having the obsessive urge to check this and every other part of the internet for smash related news for some small morsel of info leaking out. At this point I just want the roster, the anticipation is just too much lol.

Because those characters' only important appearances are in their own games. The Donkey Kong games are not Mario games. The WarioWare games are not Mario games. The Yoshi games are closer than the other 2 at being Mario games, but they're still their own thing.
