So basically the next character reveal will either confirm or deconfirm the list. Yay
Locking five characters off as Amiibo's (especially when the 3DS version apparently doesn't use the system at all) would be far more insane than just locking some characters off as DLC.If there is DLC it will be via Amiibo, not the eShop.
I'll do a month. I don't want to prevent someone partaking in future bets. Not an exaggeration. Whoever loses has to keep their new avatar not just until the Wii U version comes out, not just until Smash 5, but for the rest of their life. You sure you want to do this?
Still, you control only one so it can still make sense. Also wasn't it said that this leak is meant to be from the American version? It's probably like Ice Climbers. In Japan their name is "Ice Climber" even though there's two of them.
It'd probably be "Duck Hunt" in Japan and "Duck Hunter" or something similar in NA.
Oh shit, this is getting serious! Not an exaggeration. Whoever loses has to keep their new avatar not just until the Wii U version comes out, not just until Smash 5, but for the rest of their life. You sure you want to do this?
Can someone explain a good rationale why moving veterans from the previous installment of a game make good choices as DLC characters? Since fewer people buy the DLC than will have/buy the full game, you usually want to make the DLC enticing. Totally new characters like Chorus Men or a veteran from a while back like Mewtwo or even Dr. Mario make some sense. Ice Climbers as DLC? I can't figure out the rationale for that.

Holy shit! That's a huge find!
Maybe it's free DLC?
They could always have those remaining five in the Wii U game from the start, and have them as DLC you get for free on the 3DS version if you own the Wii U version as well.I was kind of working under the assumption Nintendo would want to maximize their profit margin. Free DLC would just be leaving money on the table no?
Perhaps. They've done paid DLC, but there's not enough history of nintendo online to really see a long term pattern.Whatever the final roster may be, Sakurai better go into depth about why certain characters were included/excluded.

The fact that we cannot (yet?) figure out where the renders are from puzzles me the most. This is the internet though, so these could have been fabricated - but if they are, then it is incredibly well done.

Dayum. That's some attention to detail for a fake.
MOTHER OF GOD.
Back to #TeamReal I go! (This is at least the 10th time I've swapped today.)
Man, this has to be bumped for all the people who are asleep.
Loving this developmentdat detail
Well after the 3DS version comes out, of which they haven't made any mention of any Amiibo support. The 3DS is getting an Amiibo podium thingy.
Pray for page 2. I'm pretty pleased with the roster, but the stage select is a bit underwhelming; I'm hoping there's a second page, or not everything has been unlocked.I'm really hoping it's fake, because that stage selection screen is like 50% returning stages.

I think the DLC characters will be revealed during the lead-up to the WiiU version, then made available for both versions not long after the WiiU version comes out. Snake and company will keep the hype going -- and people tuning into PotD -- after the 3DS version but before the WiiU version comes out.
Well, if 1) we assume this is real (i don't think it is anymore but i keep swapping between sides on that) and 2) we assume the Gematsu leak is real, then
-Lucas was intended to be in the game, but couldn't be finished in time.
-Chorus Men also were, but somehow became DLC. Were they not finished either?
-Snake's a good pull, I could see saving him for DLC
-No idea why Wolf or Ice Climbers are DLC.
We can be friends now because of this post.Yup. Either it's an unbelievably competent fake, or it's real.

What? Civilstrife is evolving!

...
Civilstrife has joined #teamreal!
Civilstrife wants to learn HYPE but he already knows 4 moves!
Delete a move to make room for HYPE?
...
CIvilstrife has forgotten HEALTHY SKEPTICISM and has learned HYPE!
If time/resources are the issue, why would Lucas get moved to DLC over like Bowser Jr.? I guess I'm working under the assumption that you want DLC to be an enticing as possible as it doesn't have a 100% attach rate and newcomers or OLD veterans would be more attractive.
Duck Hunt Dog? Who the fuck wanted him in it? Give me another Metroid rep.
