True. Whenever it happens, this is exactly how it happens. Some character(s) people hate, missing characters people are mad about, and overall chaos.
I noticed that you have mistakenly typed Duck Hunt Dog instead of Lucina, should probably fix that before you give anyone the wrong idea.

To be fair we didn't get a bi-monthly Direct since February.
April was only 3 game-specific Directs (Smash, Mario Kart and Tomodachi Life), and June was the E3 Direct which, while general, is technically not a normal Direct.
But yeah, we definitely are due for some sort of new Direct beyond Hyrule Warriors.
The overuse of young adolescents as opposed to young adults is irksome. (When it doesn't make sense at least. In guff like Kingdom Hearts that's aimed at a younger audience it's fine.)

Here is why those images are fake; the quality of the images. You have access to the game, supposedly with most if not all the content supposedly unlocked, and the best you can do is off center or cropped, skewered perspective images in what appears to be an almost black room?
- Your cell phone doesn't have video features?
- No way to get an entire screen, or the top and bottom screen together in one shot?
- Not even an image of your hands or anything else to help solidify it's authenticity?
This style of fakeshots is ancient. I even helped make one a few years ago myself, for "Capcom vs. SNK 3". But it's no longer enough (for me) to show a few dark room, off center blurry images when you have an over 5 megapixel camera with video recording on your tiny pocket sized cell phone.
Unless you are a ninja, and infiltrated Nintendo Japan's headquarters with nothing but a Polaroid, this is inexcusable. I don't even need to analyze the images beyond that. Anyone can make convincing renders. Photoshop is a Google search away.

The Duck Hunt dog looks really real, but I'm joining #TeamFake for now. I have a hard time believing the Ice Climbers are cut in any way after being such a big part of the series thus far, plus I find the return of Dr. Mario and some of the icon placements on the roster to be fairly questionable.
I think elements of the leak are real and perhaps taken from other sources, but I'm not accepting it as a whole at the moment.

My cynical side thinks it could be a group of friends who made these pics together and posting different pics from one another in order to make it look more legit.

Alright, seeing that most of these characters are in Smash Bros, which game should I get before I get Smash Bros? I rarely get Wii U games, the last one were Super Mario 3D World at Christmas (actually bought MH3 Ultimate recently). I'm considering Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, The Wind Waker HD or Pikmin 3.

Are you sure this is not a case of because you want to see them as being closer you now believe they are closer. It doesn't help you are comparing blurry art with crisp art. If you stuck those two fan renders in the leak images I'm sure they'd look just as convincing.
Also who is to say this is done by one person. Get a group on an IRC channel to keep things secret and plan it together. Would also explain the multiple leakers. I mean we even joked about coming up with out own leak just for a laugh. There's probably no deeper motivation than that for this group/individual.

I absolutely think it's still fake, all it takes is a group of nerdy Animation or Graphic Design students with talent and a 4chan persona. It's entirely possible.

At this point, we're waiting for one of the daily updates to either confirm or dismiss the entire thing.
All it would take is a single character reveal or stage reveal. Even if it's one of the characters that are in this leak, if their art is different, then the whole thing is fake. And if a stage is revealed that's not part of this, then clearly the whole thing falls apart.

DKCTF is definitely a great pickup. Also Mario Kart 8 seems to be a fantastic installment into the series.
I also would suggest picking up Wonderful 101 (that game needs all the love it can get), as well as Nintendo Land or Game & Wario if you don't mind minigame collections. Latter especially if you can play with somebody.

Is Disablád a word in another language? It looks like an "a" with a thing over it. Or it could be an "e" but skewed from the low quality and angle.
Anyway, I'm hyped for Gamexplain's video on this and their "Uuuuh, it coooould be, but..." "I would be totally OK with this!" and their condescending laughs

Protoman and Klonoa may appear more like the renders if we only saw them from an offscreen shot, but to me personally I think DH and BJr look more convincing.
I could see multiple people being in on this. It's still a tremendous amount of effort. If this is fake it is easily the GREATEST SMASH FAKE OF ALL TIME.
#TeamFake has a lot of good points, and I think we should all remain skeptical. Hopefully we get some conformation soon.

Oh yeah, I know what would prove it to be wrong I was just curious if there had been any new developments since I went to bed last night that would blatantly make it fake. But it seems it's just either more reaching *or* trying to read (not literally read) too much into the blurry picture to find an error.
Any of the veterans on the CSS that haven't been revealed yet being shown with a render that doesn't match this leak's renders would prove it wrong. Flat out.
