Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

I'm still waiting for a good reason for why the leaker would take a whole ream of snapshots rather than just one video. I have this objection to nearly every "leak" these days: in a world where it's almost impossible to find a cell phone or digital camera that doesn't take video, why on earth would you choose to take a bunch of still shots? It's less efficient and is far less convincing than a video would be. So unless these leakers can give a reasonable explanation for why they took pics instead of a video, then we should follow the time-honored principle of inference to the best explanation: snapshots are easier to doctor than videos, which in turn suggests the leak is fake.

So without even looking very hard at the content of this specific leak, we already have a decent a priori reason to doubt it.

Both Masterlinkx and Neo are Smashboards mods. They seems to confirm the leak and also say there are more characters still.

Edit: Sorry for the mobile banner

These people might have actual sources, but this comes across as "My uncle works at Nintendo" to me

Funny that Lucina and Doctor Mario are in but no Lucas which is less of a clone than both of them if it's real.
Yes I'm salty.

Oh well, Japanese release in less than a month anyway.

Here's a question: If the in-battle shot from the third leaker is real, then this confirms that that particular stage is back, right? If so, where is that stage in the stage selection screen provided by the second leaker?

This leaker never claimed to be an ESRB employee lol, that doesn't make any sense.

Like I said, people are reaching with these complaints.

You love to use terms like "desperately" and "reaching" don't you. People are free to discuss things from all angles, that's how speculation works. We see the name ESRB in some of the screenshots so we discussed why that was. Different conclusions have been reached. Asking about the ESRB and DLC is just another approach. There's nothing reaching about it.

Lucas was probably too little of a clone. Doc and Lucina are alt costumes that got their own spot on a technicality.

You're reaching because you're trying to use "it wouldn't make sense for the ESRB to know this" as a reason to think it's fake, when there's no reason to think the ESRB would need to know that in the first place.

You seem to be missing the point. The fact that he's less of a clone is exactly why he's not in.

EDIT: Assuming, of course, that he actually isn't in which we don't know for sure yet.

Do you guys know that you're all breaking the first and second rules of the Smash 4 leaks group?

The leaks has been posted in gamefaqs, 4chan and everywhere so It's public leak now. I would respect the rules if it haven't got leak to the public but it did so it's fair game to be post here.

As a Mario main I'm kind of pissed about Dr.Mario if it's true. In Melee Doc was superior to Mario, but in Brawl Mario was boosted significantly because he absorbed many of the traits that Doc had in Melee. Brawl Mario was like a hybrid of the two and the best of both.

So I guess the Pokemon X/Y leaks of Hawlucha, Greninja and others must have been fake because instead of taking a video, they only took picutres?

Just to double check, there absolutely is no 3DS bundle coming out for NA? Just EU? Guess I should buy my 3DS sooner than later

Those mods have vouched for other leaks that were false. That place believes anything

This is something I just don't follow: why should a Smashboards mod vouching for a leak make it more believable? It's not like they themselves have any special status within Nintendo; they're just guys on a message board. You could say, "well, the leaker PMs the mod the proof that he's telling the truth," but if that's the case, why can't the leaker just post his proof publicly along with the rest of the leak? It always looks suspicious when someone refuses to disclose the one piece of evidence that would really prove their case, and a mod on an internet forum saying "just take my word for it" doesn't inspire much confidence. Especially if they've been wrong in the past.

"My source says his source says, he heard it from a guy who reads papers next to a building in Seattle, who heard it from a Janitor at Nintendo, who heard it from a guy who worked for Nintendo's Party Planning team, who heard it from down the hallway from Sakurai, who was visiting in America at the time."

#TeamReal, yall. I just have to believe whatever I see on the internet.

Boosted significantly.

And the given the FLUDD.

Doc would be a good clone of mario if they give him the tornado back and change a couple of other things.

Hmmm. They said that their source is Nintendo Rep. I seriously doubt that since Neo Zero said A LOT OF THINGS, and he was wrong if I recalled correctly. He backtracked when he found out the informations were fake.

He was making a Fight Club reference.

I seriously doubt that but okay.

I just hope that the new moveset from those clones (Doctor Mario, Falco, Dark Pit) are significant different than their originals.

If not im highly disappointed.

We have pictures of the character select screen, stage select screen, customization screen, and some in-game shots.

Y'all need to calm down lol.

Oh man if that home brew channel comes out and region free is possible we are going to have a lot more people playing smash in 3 weeks =D

By the way, if there is DLC then it's going to use your NNID.
If you buy it on 3DS you can download them for free on Wii U, the other way is possible too.

Basically, Smashboards mods vouching for it is nothing like a NeoGAF mod vouching for someone like CBOAT. The Smashboards mods don't have any real connections in the industry, as far as I'm aware and as much as they might like to make you think.

I have no reason to trust Neo Zero. That guy was recently made mod, how does he have any connections? I would be more inclined to believe someone who's been on the staff for much longer and someone who actually does interact with Nintendo in some way. That person would be AlphaZealot, who helps manage the Pokemon VGCs and is the Smashboards owner. I just can't believe someone like Neo Zero, sorry.

I said it's "a decent a priori objection," not conclusive proof that the leak is fake. Of course it might turn out to be real, as the X/Y leak did. But that is one real leak amid an ocean of fake ones. The fact that photos are more easily doctored coupled with the ease of taking a video and no explanation for why no video was taken makes it more likely that the leak is fake. It's nothing definite, but it's a strike against it.

I honestly have no idea why they keep doing this lol. But the users over there keep gobbling it up so I guess the mods see no reason to stop lol

M-muh head start though!

I'm assuming they'll be like Lucina, started out as alt costumes but had minor differences so they made them a character, they won't have taken (much) development time off of other characters if that's what you're concerned about.

No I'm not. I'm putting forward one point to see what others think. More people know about the ESRB than I so I look for their insight to inform me. Someone responded to my query and that was that. That's not reaching. Also your whole post is a paradox. There's no reason for me to ask why the ESRB should know something because there is no reason for the ESRB to know something? So actually I am right in questioning why the ESRB insider would have information they wouldn't need to know in the first place. I mean if you are going to claim I'm reaching at least disagree with my point first.

We know what side you are on. #TeamReal, yo.
Yes, but not because of some he said she said stuff, like you were implying.

Also, why is everyone afraid to take my avatar bet?

There's no reason to think this person is an ESRB insider, which you seem to think there is.

Well, to be fair with both sides, it seems to be very hard to leak things from Nintendo.
Taking pictures are way faster than recording a video, if you have a chance to use the phone,
There were pokemon leaks that the guy memorized the starters to draw them afterwards, not even a picture he got

Im not saying its a legit leak, but I dont see any "photoshop mistake" to make a veredict

I don't know why or really care as to why you believe it's authentic, honestly.. not trying to be mean.

I was just showing how ludicrous these leaks are with that satire. You seem to be taking it personally. Step out the hype-bubble for a second, and look at this objectively. This leak is fake for all the reasons I already pointed out the last few pages.
