What's this I hear about the officers eye socket being broken? Any truth or is it crap like those "dozen witnesses" from yesterday?

Almost every ban I've ever investigated involves either A) blatantly NSFW images or B) being repeatedly and continuously disruptive. In short, bans don't just get handed out because someone posted something stupid or obnoxious. No, one must earn a ban. It requires dedication and effort. I'll never be banned because I'm too lazy to post often enough to arouse the notice of the administration (or for that matter, most of the regular members). Of course, I'll never have any significant amount of notoriety, and my tag will always say 'Member' - but I can post pretty much whatever the hell I feel like without worrying about earning a 'Banned' tag.

Or he was firing very rapidly and using too little trigger/clenching on firing, or squeezing with his thumbs.

Anyone that has shot handguns know that pistols in particular have a propensity for pulling shots to the left if bad technique is being used.

Add stress to that situation and technique can go out the window.

Reading stuff like this is what makes me want to just start avoiding this thread. It kind of reminds me the friend of Zimmerman who testified that he knew it was his buddy George's voice on the 911 tape screaming for help because he'd been in combat once.Once I got to the "increasingly frenzied Brown" portion I threw up in my mouth a little.

From what I've read the shots to his arm could have indicated that he was trying in vain to shield his head and face with it. I really hope that forensic evidence from the scene can paint a better picture.

Media's only going to be interested as long as the bonfire is raging. The moment the last sparks burn out, it's going to be a cut and run job. The whole situation is going to be forgotten in light of some dumb celeb scandal and the public will be just as quick to move on. The fact that this didn't stabilize after the first or second day and just how far it escalated makes me incredibly sad.

That FOX News segment is crazy.

Well that doesn't in it self mean anything, but it doesn't look good when another officer puts his hands over that officer's face to have him stop. It could be that they're just not commenting about an ongoing investigation.

I would bet money on it happening.
Like it's not even a question.

Forget the media beyond maybe the EU or some smaller bloggers following up on it. Maybe the mass media will spin around to make a IN MEMORY OF ____ EVENT segment a year later, but keep up with the outcome of a shooting like this. That's just wishful thinking.

Much as I loath Fox News, are we sure they weren't cycling through these two titles throughout the segment? I've seen news stories alternate between two things before.

More of an attempt to channel certain chains of logic and trace them back from toxic conclusions.

I think it can start with the misapprehension that the proximate cause that incited the protests is the same as the basis for protest or that justice for Michael Brown is the only aim of protest.

With that mindset and just a little bit of bias, you can easily believe that the protesters are morally wrong in their actions of protest. So you can maybe be one step closer to accepting the idea that they ought not be allowed to.

I sent you a PM because I think this conclusion naturally raises another question. I prefer to have the conversation in PM form because this thread moves fairly fast, and I can only reply in certain timeframes of my day.

I've been trying to tweet the Mya Aaten-White to journalists that have been covering Ferguson. I fear that story getting swept under the rug and forgotten about.
