The Order 1886 Gamescom Gameplay Trailer

I played this game at e3 and I really enjoyed it, but wow the amount of negativity surroudning it is not good at the mmoment, getting some serious RYSE vibes. What's the deal with the preview up there? did somebody say it was fake?

The game looks amazing and I think gameplay is getting up there too. The only thing I am concerned about is AI (both enemy and friendly) and forced QTEs. Like in the IGN video, the player was not helping the fallen police officer at first and trying to get inside the room. I think this should have been optional. If the player was ignoring the fallen guy some other person from the group should have gone and helped him pick up and let the player choose not to help. I wish they had kept things more dynamic and not so rigid. Hope this kind of stuff is minimal.

I think this one of those games that get broad range of review scores, some loving it and others hating it.

I said this before, but I love how the blue bolt of the arc gun pops out amidst the dusty, grey scenery.

Cant wait to use it :)

I like the way the other guy's cardiovascular system pops out when it hits.

Haha. I like how the player seemed infinitely more interested in what was happening around him rather than the game he was playing. I think it's shaping up pretty well at this point... I have faith it will turn out well.

Anyone know the era based on the white clothing Galahad is wearing while fighting with conventional weaponry in what is probably his pre-transformation flashback battle?

Is pretty obvious what each studios are focusing on.

RAD:

Talks about graphics, how "cinematic" the game is, visual and story is higher ranked than gameplay, etc.

From:

Talks about gameplay and how it is similar/differs from Demon's Souls, how they are tweaking the gameplay from previous games to make it more accessible or harder, etc.

People talk about The Order's graphics, image quality, and how good it looks. People talk about Bloodborne's gameplay and how difficult and fun it will be.

Look at the trailers released for each game. The Order was announced one year ago and yet it barely has more gameplay trailers than Bloodborne. And this is subjective but The Order's gameplay looks so generic as if it were an afterthought.

Because they can't or because they choose not to? From Software is a Japanese studio. Japan doesn't care about graphics as much as Westerners do.

Sorry but i don't see anything new in bloodborne gameplay that scream freshness too! It's the same action slash adventure like demon souls- dark souls. Fun to play and hard ? Maybe, it's subjective, but it's not anything new or never done this before, like the order don't have any claim to be something totally new in the history of videogames! And japanese studio simply they can't compete from a technical standpoint because they have problem with modern architecture hardware and mastering new gpu-compute and shader. The story about they don't care about graphics can be true until they games are confined in japan but for games that can be appealing from an western audiance i'm sorry but it doesn't work in this way, and maybe capcom with his deepdown in a totally delay is the proof of this problem.

I love Demon's Souls, but From also doesn't give a single fuck about plot and character development, which are very important to me and which The Order will have in spades.

The red flags are def popping up for me for this game. I'm betting it will play more like an old school CoD campaign with respawning enemies than like Gears or Uncharted. Which is good and all, if that's your bag. I guess black sight and QTE CQC will help break up the monotony.

This game looks amazing visually and looks like the gameplay is going to be much better than originally anticipated. A solid third person shooter, and I have no issue at all with that myself. Looks damn good to me. Then again I am not expecting the second coming either.

It's how I feel as well. If anything at least it has some cool guns to take out enemies... Both the thermite gun and the arc gun look really cool and fun to play with.

Pretty unambitious if true...They should be building on something like uncharted and pushing the concept further by having more destructable environments. I do think that they have shown absolutely nothing gameplay wise to differentiate themselves from the pack, other some quite nifty weapons. Visuals and concept seem promising though.

Well one thing is for sure, they don't do a good job showing off the game because the E3 and Gamescom playable demo is fucking terrible.

It's extremely short.

Full of cutscenes.

Not much gameplay.

Did you guys even read the preview posted on the last page? Plus RAD is an amateur developer with little experience
Sniper, I like you, but you really are swayed and influenced on the slightest whim without thought. No offense, but in almost every thread on The Order, you come in, throw a concern post peppered with assumptions, are rebutted, concede that the game would be good, then come back in on another thread and repeat the process.

Some points, that "preview" from some no-name site makes little sense (which I'll break down here), you seemingly completely ignore positive previews from other reputable sites, and make some bad assumptions and statements. Calling RAD "amateur"? Do you know the experience of its staff inside and out? No. In fact, they've proven to be extremely competent devs given their previous games.

On that "preview", the writer starts out by saying the mechanics are 'repetitive' and 'hardly varied'. Interesting, he apparently made a sweeping assumption that the mechanics in that 10 minute demo are what we'll be doing throughout the entirety of the game, with a dozen levels and hours and hours of playtime.

He cites the characters as "lacking depth". The fuck? It's a very, very short demo. The notion that you can acclimate yourself with the personalities of the characters here is laughable. You can already tell the damn writer has a stick up his ass with an agenda:

  • "As if Beyond Two Souls: Beyond Garbage was not bad enough, Sony Computer Entertainment had to slate another obnoxiously terrible title"
  • "At the end of the day, I remain completely and utterly unimpressed by what Sony has shown me so far. Yes, I will not win any fans in Sony’s marketing department for this article (as if I really care)"

Sounds legit.

Sir have you even played Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta? Argh >_<

RAD is comprised of former employees of Naughty Dog, Blizzard(correct me if I'm wrong) etc

Chains of Olympus is probably the worst God of War game. BUT Ghost of Sparta is the second best GoW game after God of War 2.

RAD is a very talented studio. I'm glad Sony gives them the opportunity to work on a PS4 title.

What else can you tell us?

No shit. I get that this game had a horrible marketing strategy, but the negativity surrounding this one so preemptively is astounding. If you don't like TPS, you probably won't like this game. If you think stories are a waste of time, you won't like this game and I'm assuming you didn't like TLOU, but there's plenty of people interested in these types of games and plenty of people willing to give this game a chance instead of immediately hating on it.

There's a chance this game is all flash and no substance, but to flood each thread with the same shit each time this game pops up when we've seen very little yet the impressions have been good from a lot of people seems to be really short-sighted.

Honestly, the settling alone has me more excited than anything else, and the latest gameplay looks like a good TPS. Obviously, the graphics are insane but that doesn't mean that's all that's there.

sad that it doesnt light up the environment

Not sure if it will or won't this is from the same segment they have been showing since E3. Whenever you fire the flammable round from the Thermite rifle it lights up the area as it travels you can even see it in the ground.

Also all of the "Concern" over this game is astounding. I was very impressed with the newest trailer and hope they will show more or have a different demo/walk through at TGS I am pretty confident in RAD and their track record is pretty stellar.

I'm sure Shuhei Yoshida wouldn't bank roll a poor studio. I just hope the game is good as i'm starving for AAA Sony games.

I really hope the full game is good but from all the footage I've seen so far it just doesn't seem to have much going for it for me other than its presentation. Which looks beautiful mind.

I'd love to see more monster encounters cos they might sell me on the game a bit more

Are you Jacksepticeye the Youtuber? My younger brother in law is a big fan if you are. Guessing you do videos on Minecraft or Happy Wheels or something?

In R&D defense, they have a solid track record, and have already risen above expectations graphically. Also, the demo at Gamescon was apparently the same as E3, with a whole 6 more months left of development to go.

Still, I'm not impressed by anything I've seen so far. I'm quite ok with Gears of war in a different setting with a story and characters I care about. I think that would be a great new addition to Sony's WWS franchises in fact. Just not getting that clean, responsive combat from the vids I've seen, and definitely too much QTE shown.

So where am I with these two opposing factors, eagerly looking forward to the actual game to see if they deliver. it's fun speculating, but I think it's kinda silly really. Sunset Overdrive looks like a straight up Ratchet and Clank reskinned. If I had an X1 though, I would still buy it because it's fun. That formula is proven to be fun, the game is ready enough to show more than a few minutes of gameplay. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if The Order is delayed again, they just need time to get it right. Taking inspiration from UC/Gears, you certainly have the "proven fun' part down. I think R&D will pull it off on some if not all levels.

Oh he is lol. I've never watched any of his vids, but my brother in law is insisting I say

"When in doubt, segway Steve, but if running slow, speed is key?!?!!"

Wut... Lol.

First of all, nice Law picture. :)

I agree with you on another delay. If necessary, push it to summer if needs be. Everything other than gameplay so far in this game looks amazing to me. Trailer music hit the spot in terms of tone and fitting in, settings, graphics, feel, different use of guns and the ideology behind it, overall concept of the story and the characters all pique my interest. Gameplay I am still skeptical about, and I hope they have a new trailer/demo in November or December to ease my mind a bit.
