You would be wrong.

Tai is too good for Sora.

Confirmed, 13th and final Royal Knight, Jiesumon. I hope you like swords:

BvhgencCAAAGCcX.jpg:large

looks pretty badass. I do like swords, but it's a bit much. I'm liking the fireballs though.

Where was this confirmed btw?

Also, after watching the first two episodes of Adventure 1 in JPN i've come to the following conclusions.

1. The Japanese version is overall more consistent than the ENG dub, good voicework and an awesome soundtrack.

2. The ENG dub had way better attack names. I mean come on Nova Blast is way cooler than Mega Flame. Can't forget about that Boom Bubble Pop either.

Never watched this series but how well does it hold up? How long is the run so far?

I can't really say for sure how well it holds up because I might have nostalgia goggles on. I still think it's pretty good.

also there are currently 6 series spanning around an average of 50 - 60 episodes each, and a handful of movies.

edit: sorry for the double post :x

Digimon is divided into self-contained seasons (except for Adventure).
Adventure was the first season and definitely holds up, imo. It starts a bit slow but the Vamdemon arc is great television..

Adventure 02 follows after Adventure and doesn't hold up as well, but it's still fun. Also has V-mon, which is one of the best digimon ever.

Then, the other seasons, in order:
- Tamers (This season and Adventure are my favorite.)
- Frontier (Some people hate this one because of humans turning into Digimon, but I think it has the best mythology of the series.)
- Savers (Main guy punches Digimon. Awesome, lol.)
- Xros Wars (Haven't watched all of it, so I can't give an opinion.)

This Digimon is so adorable!

Haven't never watched Digimon, is this accurate:

Digimon > Pokemon in terms of anime.

Pokemon > Digimon in terms of games.

I'd say so. Though to be fair, I haven't watched that much of the Pokemon anime (and don't really plan to). But I know for certain from what I've watched that good, fairly straight-brow topics raised in Digimon aren't touched nearly as much in the Pokemon anime which strictly favors more standard "child-friendly" plots. I've heard the Pokemon manga is very different in this regard, but I wouldn't know.

As for games, I agree as well. However, I haven't played Digimon World 1 and Rumble Arena which are the ones I see praised most often and a number of the fighting games in general (including the Wonderswan and Japanese-only titles).

I've played World 2, World 3, World 4 and Dawn/Dusk. My favorite of them is Digimon World 2, but all of these games had notable design flaws that kept them from being very solid games worth a recommendation (usually involving a poor/extensively grinding methods of reaching Digivolutions or using random battles to deliberately heavily pad your very lengthy trek from Point A to Point B just to return to Point A). Pokemon has had its weak titles, but almost none of them have had quite the issues I've seen in these titles.

Here's to hoping Cyber Sleuth turns out awesome though because it looks great!

Interesting design. I'm not a fan of the pointed sword legs but I think it could look pretty cool in action.

Aye, I've never been huge on sword legs on any design, but the lance fireballs look neat!

I don't think they will. Really the only ship I think they should do is Tai/Sora but the creator is dead set on Matt/Sora so I don't see that changing.
The thing is Sora technically isn't the original implied love interest of Tai:
ZXYkzow.jpg

That'll be Rei Saiba from V-Tamers, a manga series that predated Adventure. So basically she's got seniority over Sora in the shipping department. A bit of a shame that no one's seems to have heard of this series, not even in Japan it seems. It's an ok book, maybe not as good as Adventure or Tamers but it's enjoyable.

In any event, screwing over canon just to bend over for the shippers isn't the way to go. They want to Matt & Sora to be a couple, actually show them as such. Show us WHY they belong together. More than anything, I was frustrated at how half-assed the writing started to get in later 02: the relationship came out of nowhere & gets no focus. As a viewer I felt like I was prohibited from seeing what the characters I watched all through the 1st season were really up to in the 2nd. When that Christmas episode came along all I was thinking was "what the hell did I miss this whole season?" Hell, the PSP game based on Adventure tried to do more with them than the anime ever did.

Of course the real ship to address is TK/Kari. They're gonna be what, 14/15 in the new series? Dem hormones are gonna be acting up real soon.

- Frontier (Some people hate this one because of humans turning into Digimon, but I think it has the best mythology of the series.)
I didn't care much for the core cast (too much of carbon copies of past casts) but the show really started to piss me off with the Royal Knights arc. Pretty much the same episode repeated like 10 times. & then there's the brilliant idea of having 2 3rds of the team just straight up give up their powers so the leads can be literally the only ones allowed to do anything ever. Fucking dumb.

All right I think I'm finally going to start watching the original Japanese Adventure sub. I think I've watched Adventure through 5 times before but never watched the sub for some reason. I'm kind of excited because by this point I know the dub so well that I'll be able to compare it to the sub without much thought.

Also if anyone doesn't think that Terriermon is the best Digimon then you're wrong.

My favorite Terriermon moment:

Aye, I've never been huge on sword legs on any design, but the lance fireballs look neat!
They do! I wonder how this story is going to play out.
Terriermon is the cutest of them all

I didn't even notice this until you pointed it out. Looks a little weird, but I'm a fan of the overall design.

Terriermon is one of my faves. He's so adorable

Eh. I don't care much for a manga character that has no appearance in the series. The movies(not by the creator I know) gave an interest in Tai/Sora and gave a way better reason to enjoy them. I think they should retcon quite a few things from 02 and I don't think pandering to the shippers is a big deal. 02's "everyone gets digimon" was the biggest load of bull I've ever seen and is my first biggest wish for a retcon.

As I said, they won't but I'm never going to be interested in Matt/Sora because they were too forced and horribly developed.

Now I wouldn't mind TK/Kairi but I think the only romance pushed was Davis liking her and him just being jealous of TK's friendship with her. I wouldn't mind either couple happening but that terrible 02 ending needs to be gone for either to happen.

Yep, biggest issue I had with it. Something I feel that doesn't get enough love is the non partner Digimon in Savers. Mercurimon and Craniummon are better than any others in the series. Only other Digimon I feel that comes close is Wizardmon in 01.

I agree, sometimes it felt like it was trying hard to capture the spirit of Adventure, but failing to get it right. The best parts of the season were the original ideas..

And yeah, while most Digimon seasons heavily favor the main duo, Frontier took this to the absolute extreme.

Then you got Izumi, who is arguably the worst digi-girl. Brings everything down a notch.

I've never seen the Royal Knights, so this is all new to me. Thanks for the info.

In other news, I just finished Our World Game. That was really good! Loved it. Izzy Koushiro and Tai make for a very entertaining duo. I watched the American version (The Digimon Movie) of the film many times as a child, but many details were fuzzy, particularly ones I can appreciate more now watching the originals at this age.

There's a girl worse than Miyako? *gulp*

I said "arguably"...
yes.

Yeah, I hope they retcon the first two seasons and put in Izzy and Tai as the main two. And as a result we get a new Omnimon made from Wargreymon and HerculesKabuterimon.

I'm kidding.

Kind of

Yo they need to kick out LordKnightmon from the Royal Knights and add someone better.

Also Dukemon should be in his X form. Which is much cooler.

yusss. I really loved the song they played in the english dub here. I don't know what music played in the original but I bet it was great too.

Sad that Savers is shorter than every other season and there's not enough time for every Royal Knight to have more of a role.

It's sad that Savers was shorter because it was so good ;-;

edit: What's up with Purple Patamon? Also it's interesting how Veemon gets 2 slots in the Royal Knights. Probably cuz he's so cool.

1) Agumon/Gabumon Ultimate fusion
2) V-mon miracle Armour evolution
3) Guilmon Ultimate form
4) Could be Ultimate form of Candlemon or DemiDevimon
5) Kotemon Ultimate form
6) Veedramon Ultimate form (don't know child form)
7) Dorumon Ultimate form
8) Kapurimon Ultimate form, also evolved from Andromon
9) Kudamon Ultimate form
10) ?
11) Dracomon Ultimate form(?)
11) not revealed
13) Huckmon ultimate form

For the fellows that are watching the sub for the first time, I think the biggest difference you will notice is that the original takes itself a little more seriously than the dub. Also, please note that Koushiro (Izzy) speaks in extremely polite Japanese, even to his parents, Takeru, Hikari and the Digimon. However that way of speaking is often looked as a way of speaking to an acquaintance, not close friends. Keep that in mind as you are watching the show cause it makes you understand his character and growth through out it.

Edit: I have never seen Wolfmon's child form before. Thats awesome.

Thanks. Also, Veemon evolves into Veedramon, so does Botamon.

All the Royal knights are mega level digimon too, no? With the exception of Magnamon, who's mega level in all but name.

And I'll keep that in mind about Izzy

edit: anyone else think Magnamon's design is a bit lacking compared to the other knights?

edit2: I never realized before, but so many of the Digidestined wear gloves. Takeru and Sora wear hats. Aren't they supposed to be at summer camp? Who decided on that design lol.

Sorry, I was thinking Japanese evolutions which are:

baby->lesser->child->adult->perfect->ultimate

fresh->in-Training->rookie->champion->ultimate->mega

Magnamon looks cool, but seems to be on the weaker end of RKs. I loved his attack in 02 though. Dat Vegeta attack.

So more brownie points for Shoutmon not being a royal knight yet still kicking ass!

(Yeah he draws power from OmegaInForce but drawing power =/= being a knight!)

ah i see

I also think Magnamon looks cool, and his attacks are great, his design is just a lot simpler than the others. I don't think he's any less powerful though.

I think OmegaShoutmon is cool, but his face just looks weird to me :/ He should have kept his snout or something.

I like Magnamon's design, no shame in having some simplicity.

I also feel bad for laughing at the part where (same part in i-hate-u's previously posted video)
Digimon Kaiser's all like "What you say Wormmon?! *whip*"
when first watching that part. He just reacts so quickly to it!

I gotta watch Xros Wars lol. Was kinda put off by the mecha-inspired digimon. So, the regular evolutions is gone in that series?

I haven't seen a lot of it, but from what I have it's interesting. Shoutmon only evolves by fusing with other digimon, with the exception of OmegaShoutmon, but I don't know if other digimon can evolve normally

Huh? He still has the dragon snout. It's not like the case of Magnamon who is supposed to be a tall Veemon wearing armor (read: bikini armor) but his head looks smooshed from the helmet.

Only super evolve (because they "transcend time" to evolve, as in OmegaShoutmon is Shoutmon's form in the far, far future) and it's in the second half of Xros Wars, and even then they still use Xrosing.

And yes I said second half, I consider Young Hunters not part of that!

There's Greymon too. Those are the two that super evolve.

idk he looks fine in the art, but in the show itself his face looks flat

maybe it's just the armor under his chin is jutting out too far. /shrug

I stuck with Savers despite not enjoying it in the beginning and I liked it. Hopefully Xros Wars is the same. Young Hunters is bad huh?

Yeah. Despite being better than 02, it really shows that it's a post script season made to fill time while TOEI waits for Saint Seiya Omega.

It's probably the perspective/angle in his stock footage transformation.
