So whilst I was in the shower I came up with a (I think pretty great) idea for a pseudo-clone Dr. Mario moveset:
-Keep all his normals exactly the same, except with some jiggery pokery on particle effects, damage values, knock back values and hitboxes with a few unique animations.
-Down B: Mario Tornado, multihit move like the mario of old.
-Up-B: Charge punch, hold B to charge a super jump punch, at full charge it goes further than Marios but the attack is much weaker except from a hitbox in the last few frames that does decent knockback/damage.
-Neutral-B: Pill, mario throws a pill much like normal Mario's fireballs, except they have lower gravity so they bounce higher and fall slower, damage is less than mario's fireballs but the have higher hitstun.
-Side B: Virus, when you use this move, Dr. Mario places a virus on the stage, only one can be in play at any time and they cycle through in the order; Fever (red), Weird (yellow) and Chill (blue).
Once placed, a virus isn't affected by gravity and they can't move, they only have three animations, the idle animation is the little dance they do, after 15 seconds they fall over and pop and whenever dr. mario taunts, it will laugh.
Each virus has a different effect to any opponent within maybe bowsers width away from them, Fever does fire damage every few ticks (no hitstun), Chill slows movement and attack speed and Weird reverse controls.
They don't take knockback from enemy players but they can be attacked and destroyed after taking around 20% of damage.
The other thing they do is based on Dr. Mario's neutral, the pill throw.
Normally, Dr. Mario's pills are seemingly random, but if you press your side-B whilst a virus is in play, mario will strike a little pose where he holds the next pill up in his right hand and winks or something, like this:
But with his legs being different depending if he is on the ground or in the air, basically, you use it so you have a good idea of what the next that you'll throw is.
The main reason for this is back to the viruses, when you throw a pill at a virus, it either does a tiny explosion, a small elemental explosion, or a large elemental explosion.
For example, if you hit a Chill virus with a red + yellow pill, it destroys the virus and does a small amount of damage with little knockback, you hit it with a blue + red or a blue + yellow pill and it does a slightly bigger explosion with increased damage and it freezes the other player and hitting it with a double blue pill increases the radius to about bob-omb size with more damage still and freezing (talking 5/7/10% damage here for each tier, not massive amounts).
Chill would freeze but have lower damage explosions, Weird would electrocute and have high stun explosions and Fever would have high damage explosions.
Or something like that, the idea sounded really fun in my head and a great way to make the character more "Dr. Mario"-y
