PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

People said Danganronpa 2 was much better than the original. I didn't think it was possible.
But that first chapter... now I believe.

Amen! Btw, do you know if there's any embargo on talking about DR2? I know some of what the restrictions are, but I don't know if there is a time restriction.

Um...what? I didn't. I feel awkward now because I kind of wanted it and $10 seemed like a good price to me.

there was a mistake on the site that allowed you to download it for free if you got timed trials of both games on ps3.

and if the flash sale happens, then ill be getting sly collection for vita most likely. anyone have some impressions for performance and visuals?

Man, going through my list of PS+ games and it seems the only PS+ game I forgot to download during the free period in almost two years was Sine Mora. Kind of annoying because it looks like a game I would quite want to have on my vita. No idea how I missed it. I know it's only $10 but it just feels bad buying it when I have every right to have it for free, but my own stupidity or laziness prevented it. That and my insurmountable backlog, partly due to PS+. My god I have a lot of games from PS+, this service is absolutely ludicrous from someone who owns all 3 currently "supported" playstation platforms.

Only game I forgot was Lumines on Vita :( :(

Not sure if this applies to the US, but it seems there will be a flash sale this weekend if the leak is to be believed:

Damn you guys :(

Would grab Sly and GoW Vita collections at that price. I really should have gone US for my PS+ account, sick of my Vita missing out on the sales :(

Sly reviews were really positive, only issue were the low quality cutscenes taken straight from the PS2 games.
God of War has some slowdown and isn't native pretty sure. Still very playable I've heard.

Huh, :Crimsonland is $20 here in Australia compared to $14 in the US. I wonder what that extra $6 is for!

Yet another AU tax hike from Sony that results in me not buying their games.

by the way, was there some promo in May where Sony gave back $10 gift card or something?

There was a Paypal promo, spend $50 or something. The $10 voucher came through as a PSN message, mine was on PS3. Took a week or so.

Saw that the Sly and God of War Collections might have a flash sale this weekend, so hope you guys enjoy them :).

Got the God of War Collection via glitch on PSN (that me and other Gaf members found out about) and the Sly Collection via retail version at GameStop. The former is an okay port of two really amazing games while the latter port is an almost perfect port of two great games and one crappy one (really don't like Sly 3 sadly X().

For those who didn't use the glitch to get God of War or never bought the Sly one yet, can't beat five games for 20 bucks :D. The God of War games run well on Vita (only a few frame drops and slowdown in some sections; ex: Sewer in GOW1) and are at sub-native res (with BADLY compressed cut-scenes :(). The Sly games run at native res with an almost consistent 30FPS for all the games (with Sly 2/3 having rare slowdown when lots of foes find you). Overall solid collections for your Vita :D. Just keep in mind that the GOW Collection takes up 3.0 GB while the Sly Collection takes up 3.3 GB (5+GB if you decide to have Sly 3 as well).

Oh, I will say this though; just skip Sly 3. I mean, the game isn't horrendous or anything, but it is a huge step down from Sly 1 and 2, so if you are expecting the 3rd game to be just as good or even better then the others, you will be disappointed :(.

I've decided to check out SAO latter next week and after seeing more of the game online, don't find the translation all that bad :D. Granted, it does have errors and the like, but I still understood it well enough :). The gameplay also looks like a lot of fun and the MMO-nature of the quests/missions is very interesting.

I also like how visually nice the game looks; really bright and colorful alongside appearing to run very well on Vita (granted, I am aware of the patch that is supposed to be coming next month, so the game will run even better by that point :D). I also hope they polish up the translation for the NA/EU versions with the patch but I don't expect that to happen; will just be a nice surprise :).

I know I said this already, but I have to thank Gaf for once again getting me interested in a series I never expected to really enjoy :). Love the world and characters, so I'm sure the Vita game will be a blast to play through (not to mention how this is supposedly having hundreds of hours of content to play though! Makes that 40 dollar price tag a bit more realistic XD).

excited for Sly Collection now
but dang.. not cross-buy? really wanted to sell off my Physical Retail copy of Sly Collection PS3 - still shrinkwrapped lol

Doesn't the GoW run awful? I think the Sly Collection is the only good port and yeah, sly 3 is awful. instead of making sly the main character, you have to use these other annoying characters. sly 2 is bearable and really only the first one really worth playing imo. other are all shit.

Sadly no :(; that isn't cross-buy at all in US (in EU, it is for digital versions of the Collection). I wasn't that upset considering it was a damn good port (and that Sanzaru are awesome developers :D) but it still kinda bites considering how GOW was cross-buy in US (though....many including myself used the glitch to get it, making Sony not being into cross-buy in NA somewhat reasonable X().

oh well guess that's true

hmmm anyone getting
SENRAN KAGURA SHINOVI VERSUS - 'Let's Get Physical' Limited Edition - PlayStation Vita

GoW doesn't run awful :l, it just isn't a perfect port :(. Many got turned off by the badly compressed cut-scenes and the game not being native res, so I understand why you think the port is shit.

Sly 3 isn't awful either....it just really pales in comparison to the other games in the series. It is like Sucker Punch fell in love with the Sonic Adventure 2 character set up and just copied that when handling its playable cast X(. I did beat the game on PS2 a few years back (and the final level with Sly is quite fun :D) but still, it wasn't that good at all :(.

Sly 2....I understand what you mean :l. I like the game (really enjoyed beating it on both PS2 and PS3 :D) but for some reason it really bores me :(. I know I enjoyed the Crash-esc level layouts of Sly 1, so I guess it was that bais that made me not like Sly 2 that much; it wasn't the sequel I expected it to be. That doesn't mean it is a bad game, far from it. The hubs are fun to explore, the playable cast is solid (Sly controlling great, Murry being a blast to play as when fighting and Bently being okay to play as) and the visuals are a huge step up from the original (the game really shines on Vita :D).

I agree with you on Sly 1 completely; love that game :D! It felt like a perfect blend of Crash and stealth :). The stealth wasn't that important (as you can just bash things with your cane XD) but still, it really added a nice wrinke into its very Crash-like gameplay.

Should have named the game "Sly and his dreadful friends" and I wouldn't have wasted time on this game.

Sly 1 is the best of the trilogy imo. I liked Sly 2 but it was bogged down by having to play as Murray and Bentley. Well written characters, but I'd rather play as the more agile Sly. I did prefer the improved story telling. Sly 3 is alright, but I wasn't a fan of the Carmelita's voice actor change. Not to mention the game borrowed heavily from Sly 2 rather than Sly 1.

I liked Thieves in Time though.

I'm just wondering, did you ever play Sly 4? That game might be one you enjoy :D. The game is the best elements from Sly 2 and Sly 1 but with an HD coat of paint. The gameplay is the same as Sly 2/3 but rather then be bombarded with lots of differently playing characters, you play as a lot of characters but with the same core gameplay.

Sure, you still play as Bentley, Murray and Carmelita but they are barely in the game compared to Sly and his Ancestors. All but one share the same core gameplay as Sly but with one core ability. Sly has the ability to buy upgrades for himself and use costume powers while his Ancestors play 1-to-1 like Sly but with on 'super' version of a ability Sly already has (Ex: his Ninja Ancestor can used a version of the spiral point landing skill but can warp between them super fast, his Medieval Ancestor can use the pull-jump move (where Sly hooks his cane in the wall-hold but pulls himself up for a higher jump) but can charge it to go super high and brake through barriers).

That alongside levels more akin to the original Sly rather then Sly 2 and huge worlds with tons of stuff to find (clue bottles with upgrades that work with everyone, treasure to find that nets you money, Sly Masks at unlock costumes/cane skins for the main cast) makes Sly 4 one of the best games in the series next to the first one in my eyes :D.

I'm pretty sure LittleBigPlanet 3 will be a case study on this... I'm looking forward to the game and am sure it will be fun, but it's likely the beginning of an end.

yea getting two collections (5 PS2 games) for $5-$10 isn't that bad. Glad I waited on Sly. Wish Ratchet was on sale too. :(

Man...if Revelations goes on flash sale for ten bucks, I'd buy it just for Raid Mode. But I don't actually want to play through the story (played like half of it on the 3DS and didn't enjoy it all that much). I just want Raid Mode. But you have to play the story to unlock Raid Mode stages.

Dammit. =/

Raid Mode was so much more enjoyable than the story, which felt like a chore.

I thought these were all going for $5 each? And when would the sale start...Friday?

Lol, just noticed the sale we're all talking about. I'll probably grab the Wonderbook game and mayyyyyybe Darksiders 2.

Hopefully the online community for MX vs ATV Alive gets a little boost from this. Been meaning to play some multiplayer since I bought it last year, but there's no one online lol.

So cute. :3

Some developers are better than others and have more resources available. It's not that difficult to understand.
I know, but from Sony i think i have the right to pretend more, especially if a game is not heavy.
Even Doki Doki Universe that is a 2d game doesn't run perfectly on Vita, what's the problem with Sony developers? How it's possible that first and second parties are not able to do what third parties do?
I'm starting to think it's not only incompetence.

How cute :)
Whatever it is i hope that their next game will also be on Vita...

Auto quote from SAO:HF thread.

Bamco has send me a message that there is a raffle. You just have to sign and give a like to the SAO game Facebook page and you may win Hollow Fragment.

I don't know if it's exclusive to Spain or other offices are doing the same. Give it a look :)

I think I'm finally getting BoF and nothing more for the EU sale. I'm jealous of your flash sale :(

Was thinking of getting this even though I'm in the UK.

Anyone know the chances of this getting any DLC in the future? I'm only using a EU PSN account and wondered what the chances are that I'd be missing out on anything by "buying American".

There's supposedly over a hundred DLC articles and every one of them will be brought over to Europe at least, so I guess the US also will be getting them.

Australia got the Disgaea 4 demo!

Has anybody here cleared it and can tell me how long it took? I might start it when I get home depending on the length.

Edit: hawwwwwwwww top of the page!

Buy Danganronpa and beat it before the sequel drops in a couple of weeks!
