CNN had taken an 'iReport' earlier that claimed Capt. Ron Johnson of the Highway Patrol was throwing gang signs with black youths in the community. I mean, you see two black people in a picture who have their hands in an unknown configuration OBVIOUSLY they're part of a gang right?

As the Washington Post reveals, these 'gang signs' are actually a fraternity hand sign.

Yep. Both Ferguson and that first Malaysian flight from months ago taught me that "neutrality" can be just as bad as bias when taken to an extreme.
 
Does anyone believe the "severe beating" story at all?

If the guy was that messed up, why didn't they have a picture of him on the air that evening? It would have diffused a ton of tension to show he was defending himself.

...unless it's BS of course.

I believe he got hospitalized for certain, that's easy to check. I don't believe Brown hit him at all. You can wave away no bruises since he died so soon after, but if he beat the shit out of him, his knuckles would be cut and scraped.

There are a few reasons why they wouldn't release it. Ongoing investigation, etc. It's not a good look though.

Not only did people in the community witness the shooting, they were forced to look at the aftermath. For hours, they had to see Michael Brown’s bullet-ridden, bloody body lie rotting in the street."

I wasn't aware of that before, his body being left like that for so long. There's so much wrong with this incident.

Thats the part that fucking pisses me off the most. Its what originally got my blood boiling about this whole thing. They shot him and then they just left him there

What I don't get about their story is that Brown beat the cop to near unconsciousness but he wasn't shot at point blank range. So he's beating a cop, then stops, steps away and then gets shot 5 times.

I'm going to guess it was probably just one or two punches. But Brown is a big guy, so one or two punches to the face is probably enough to leave a significant mark.

Brown's friend says Wilson pulled Brown into the police car, right? Brown could have resisted that and punched Wilson to get him to let go.

Wilson goes for his gun, but fumbles and the gun goes off. It doesn't sound like that shot hit anyone, but it was probably enough to panic Brown into running.

That's when Wilson hops out of the car and uses entirely too much force.
 
If anything hit Wilson, it was probably the door.

Nearly all accounts have him swinging the door open and it being slammed back shut.

The account that's being focused tested by Wilson's defense in the media now is that Brown beat officer Wilson so badly that his orbital socket was broken. Typically when you hit someone that hard with your bare hands it causes significant damage or at the very least bruising to your knuckles. There were no such injuries to Mike Brown's hands.

So far even though the witness testimony hasn't been exactly identical there's a single fact that show's up in every account which is that Brown was surrendering when shot. The act of surrendering is a simple act that any human can instantly recognize and the fact that every witness reported seeing it completely destroys the credibility of Wilson's defense.

This makes sense. There would still be some form of struggle, though. Clothing damage and such. But didn't the coroner not have the clothes? And if he hit him hard enough to break an orbital bone, you'd still see marks.

I still think Brown either slammed the door on his face somehow, or it rebounded back into Wilson because he opened it too fast

Dorian said that that Mike Brown was shot while he was wrestling with Johnson and even said he was bleeding from that first shot in the car. Also according to Dorian's story, Brown was being choked by the officer through the car window -- so it would not surprise me if Brown did throw a few punches. But the extent of his injuries have gone from: "OMG fractured eyeball" to "a bit of swelling on the one side of his face". And the fact that they're taking this long to show any proof and have resorted to "leaking" their side of the story, makes me not believe a word they're saying.

What I find scary about it is that some of the people donating leave behind comments making it clear they've come from places like /pol/. Some of these are just $5 but some go beyond $100. It's concerning that people would casually put away that much money on what's essentially trolling.

Legal fees maybe? I've got no damn idea. There's only one family here who has to pay for a funeral so I have no idea what that money is for.
 
for the people who record these events on cell phones, why are they allowing cops to confiscate their cell phones. im pretty sure id peace out so the cops couldn't do anything shady. or id at least send the video to my email for duplication. it seems odd these people are giving police their cell phones.
