TGS 2014 Prediction Thread

Square's top priority is FF XV, right? No more moving developers from that project to another? It's in full development and we have seen nothing from the game in more than 1 year, again.

-Lots of mobile games, especially Puzzle&Dragons clones
-A few Vita games where you rub lolis
-More mobile games
-Some Compile Heart/Idea Factory games for PS4 - probably a new Neptunia at least (and this will be the best you get)
-Even more mobile games
-Your usual Gundam games and anime shovelware for PS4
-Another classic IP goes mobile with IAP microtransations, 'stamina bars', third-rate artwork and all that other stuff you hate about mobile
-No revival of long dormant RPG franchises on PS4 or big-budget RPGs :(

Unfortunately square's top priority appears to be mobile games at this point. I'm hoping we get at least a new trailer, but realistically it will be the same trailer with 15 extra seconds of potential gameplay.

No FFXV, no KH3, no Persona 5, no Last Guardian. Gaf will be pissed and demand blood. That's what I'm expecting

FFXV is going to be a no show, isn't it?

I'll focus on Sony conference, so:

PS3:
- Persona 5 release date and gameplay
- new jrpgs

Vita:
- price cut
- memory card price cut
- new ip, maybe 2 or 3

PS4:
- MGS V release date
- FFXV gameplay
- KH 3 gameplay
- Gravity Rush 1 and...2?
- more Bloodborne
- exclusive game from Capcom or Konami or Square or Atlus, I feel it
- PS4 japanese price cut fell it, too

Nothing of interest to me and anything of interest will never come to the states.

More mobile and browser games I don't care about and if I did care I probably couldn't play them.

I am being very negative I know but I don't expect much from TGS.

Predictions for Sony related stuff:

- Gravity Rush PS4 AND Vita, game is build around the PS4 though.
- Expect some big third party multiplatform game announcement.
- A"soon to be vaporware" exclusive PS4 game from a semi-big Japanese dev.
- NO PS4 version of Persona 5, the PS3 is being kept alive.
- SEGA game *hint* Yakuza Japan exclusive *hint*
- I guess Square-Enix will show something? Idk. It will be nothing new (game wise, not content/gameplay wise) but fans will cry and praise SE like there is no tomorrow.
- No "Super Secret Yoshinori Ono PS4 project". Capcom is a corpse, get over it.
- Sony Japan will reveal an A/AA exclusive game, they may reveal another game on which they may be working on together with some other Japanese dev (PS4)
- Known PS4 games will be shown, Bloodborne, Let It Die, multiplatforms like MGSV etc etc
- Bundles, deals, colors, stuffs, and more!
- Indie "lower budget" games.
- Falcom and Nis may be present.
- Vita stuff that may or may not take up to half of the conference time.

I'm not even going to put TLG on that list because that's not going to be there, wait for E3 and please be excited.
...

Nothing really surprising but still an OK showing nonetheless.

Microsofts turn:

- They will try to market the Xbox One so that it at least doesn't end up worse than the PS4 (is such a thing even possible? Yes it is)
- Buying up a game that nobody on the internet will understand why they did it.
- An exclusive from our friends at Capcom, Square-Enix may join the party too. They both will desperately try to pursue the western audience.
- Shmups, yissss.
- Scalebound trailer/tease.
- Showing off their western (exclusive) games portfolio.
- Japanese centric (TV) services.
- I have the feeling they may reveal something really good, and that it's an exclusive, a JRPG perhaps? You may never know, something like that hasn't happened in a long time though.
- Bundles.

Good night GAF.

Didn't Microsoft say something earlier this year that they and Sega will be revealing a project at TGS?

I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case, since Sega has supported them so vehemently in their post-Dreamcast days... I'd be unsurprised to see that much talked about Shenmue HD Collection go exclusive to XBO. Though what I really want is just a new Virtual On. Sigh.

I think I recall a Square representative saying they'd show more of FFXV later this year. What other gaming-related shows are there left for this year after TGS?

I'm like a hound, begging for scraps at his master's table. Heh.

lol, how many shitty TGS's do some of you need to live through before expectations get realistic? :D

Biggest thing we'll see there is probably Resi Revelaitons 2 "exclusive" on Xbone probably, followed by Phil Spencer having to eat another bag of metaphorical internet shit when this goes down about as well as the Tomb Raider thing.

I can recall SE also said they'd have updates on FFXV a lot more regularly than they ever did with FFVSXIII ... back at E3 2013... which was the last time we actually got anything resmbling an actual 'update' on the game.

I'm betting they're saving the gameplay debut for the tenth anniversary of FFVSXIII's original announcement... which actually isn't all that far away now :(

i have another prediction. Capcom will show a Resident Evil 7 teaser at the MS conference and Capcom will announce another DLC pack for Dead Rising 3.

Am I missing something because MS haven't announced a conference. I don't remember them doing one last year either. In fact when is the last time they have had one?

Exactly

Maybe Yakuza 6 will be multiplat in Japan
(and XOne exclusive in the west, published by MS)

Now that is a scenario I had not thought of. Interestingly enough, I'd be...okay with that? Though I don't know exactly why I'd be okay with that...

I really want Square to show off Riku and everyone else's KH3 models with the Kingdom Shader but I somewhat doubt that this will happen..for the next year or two.

well not a conference but they'll have announcements from TGS, and no they weren't really at TGS last year in any meaningful way.

Yeah, they were all but completely absent from TGS '13. I expect them to have more of a presence at this year's, if for nothing else than because of the timing of the One's launch in the East.

Going off of twitter, Phil Spencer is attending TGS and he still is working on TGS plans.

Don't expect to see Phantom Dust or Crackdown for the rest of the year also.

I'd like to see some gameplay of Scalebound, and of course the release date of MGS5, especially the PC version, cause i'd like to pick that one if it'll come at the same time of the console versions.

Not much. SE are stupid enough not to show any FFXV. It seems like even Bioware may have a bit of a revival this gen, but SE is going from bad to worse.

Otherwise, more Bloodborne and Tomorrow's Children would be nice for starters.

On the MS side, I am interested in seeing Scalebound, although the reveal trailer was pretty crumby. I don't think they will have much exclusive though. I mean they are behind the West and have little chance in the East.

From both the Sony conference and TGS:

If we get a FFXV release date and another impressive (but different) gameplay trailer, I'll be happy.

Other expectations:

  • More Vita support than E3 and Gamescom (not saying much) but not a Vita focused event (maybe FFXII HD announced)
  • Bloodborne gameplay
  • MGSV update
  • TGS is absent
  • Sony PS4 AAA RPG announced
  • Persona 5 coming to PS4
