TGS 2014 Prediction Thread

It's funny, but I have never had any expectations for TGS, ever. I mean cool games have been announced there right? I dunno, but this time too, I expect absolutely nothing. It's kind of liberating in a way after E3 and gamescom where I was super hyped.

Persona 5 trailer release delayed till early 2015.

Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem trailer

Gravity Rush 2 Vita and PS4 (this version comes with the first)

New PS4 Japanese Third-Party Exclusive

Ni-Oh coming exclusive on Wii U

Isn't The Last Guardian already confirmed a no-show for TGS?
Shu said it probably won't be shown at TGS but never said anything about the pre-TGS conference.

so-youre-telling-me-theres-a-chance-gif.gif

Yakuza 6
Mana Khemia 3 or something from Gust
Disgaea 5 from NIS
Ys 8 from Falcom
Idolmaster even more DLC edition for PS4
Darkstalkers 4 as Ono's project
Arc The Lad as a decent mid budget JRPG that is quite nice but people complain about for not being the uber epic that'll sell millions of PS4s
Gravity Rush 1/2 PS4
Freedom Wars PS4
anything vita has left PS4

With TGS less than a month away, what do you expect to be shown this year? Persona 5? FFXV...? KH3? Gundam PS4? Rumored Sony JRPG, or even,
TLG?

Do you guys expect Sony to step in and actually announce JRPG ports like Persona 5 or Tales of Zestiria to the PS4 to help push the console in Japan?

I would kill for Persona 5 on PS4....but I don't believe in it.

For the actual predictions.
Isn't the new Yakuza close to being announced ?

New Yakuza.
Resident Evil Revelations 2
New game for SCEJ
New third party exclusives for both MS and Sony.

Would love to be suprised though and get something else, and obviously a Yakuza that's actually coming to the West.

Persona 5 trailer release delayed till early 2015.

Early 2015 wouldn't be a delay for Persona 5. Winter 2014 extends to March 2015. They've done this exact same thing before:
Catherine release window in PR = "Winter 2010." Actual release? "February 2011." February 2011 was part of winter 2010, just like how February 2015 will be part of winter 2014.

The long awaited sequel to The World Ends With You is shown as a teaser

They just had a TWEWY themed night at the Artnia Store in Shinjuku with Nomura in attendance giving autographs and doing an interview for the Japanese Squenix MD radio program. They teased the crowd and asked "Does everyone want a sequel?" and Nomura said it was up to Kando-san (神藤 he's in charge of merchandise I think) who was giving the interview... I think that part may have been a joke.

I never really know what to expect with TGS (EDIT: especially with the convention's focus on mobile and last year's turnout) but if they announce a new Ys game and I'll probably flip out so I ain't even gon do it to myself. Hopefully some 3rd parties have a few Vita games on deck.

more Vita games and Persona 5 would make my whole day if it was shown at TGS, other then that I still feel meh about MGS or TLG

No TLG
No KH3
No Tekken 7
No Tekken 7 x Street Fighter
No Western Studio reveal from Sony/MS
No Deep Down

Yes to a new Yakuza
Yes to some Persona news
Yes to a few new IP's
Yes to a few VITA games
Yes to a tonne of 3DS Games
Yes to an infinite amount of cellular games

I will be amazed id Persona 5 is on anything other than PS3.....would make sense though to make it on PS4 to get the next round of Shin Megami monster models for the next wave of games

I don't even know. TGS generates no hype anymore.

Hopefully something about Persona 5
I guess RE: Revelations 2.
A new Yakuza game that will never make it to the west.
Mabye a Sony Japan Studio digital game.

Where's that Lost Odyssey 2, Microsoft?

Mistwalker is too busy making F2P mobile games

Honestly, I'm not expecting much. E3 and Gamescom seem pretty predictable in their own way, but I don't know what to expect from TGS because the Japanese home console industry seems in such a bad way right now.

I guess we'll get updates for plenty of games we already know about, like Persona 5, FFXV, KH3 and Bloodborne. Whether there will be actual game play for those two SE games is anyone's guess. I'm not expecting either to release until 2016.

Hopefully Gravity Rush 2 will be there with lots more details. I expect it will be on Vita and PS4 (if not PS4 only), and I wouldn't be surprised if Gravity Rush 1 is getting a PS4 port as well.

TLG won't be there. I hope there's another Japan Studios game there, but we're less than a year out from their last two titles so I think it may be a bit soon.

All this is best case scenario in my opinion. I really don't have high hopes for anything that appeals to me.

Realistic expectations:
New Sony Japan Studio game
new game announcements from Sony for PS4
Persona 5 info
New RE reveal
Microsoft moneyhatting some JRPGs

"There is a chance that it will happen" territory:
Devil May Cry 5
Metal Gear Rising 2
New FFXV and KH3 trailers & info
New Tales for PS4
Gravity Rush 2 for PS4
New Scalebound trailer & info (maybe a release window too)

"There's probably no chance that it will happen, but I like dreaming about it" zone:
Capcom going back to old series and bringing some of them back. Like Okami, God Hand, Viewtiful Joe, Dino Crisis, Onimusha...

Companies that I lower my expectations of:
  • Square 'Please Be Disappointed of Dargon Quest' Enix
  • Capcpom
  • Sega '日本のみ'
  • Grasshopper 'Let it buried six feet under' Manufacture

Companies that I'm looking forward to:
  • Platinum, Legend of Korra and that Xbox One game
  • Cyber Connect 2's new project
  • ATLUS, expecting Persona 5 trailer / gameplay trailer
  • Kojima Productions, MGS trailers are always entertaining
  • Sony, I want to see weird Japanese indie games, didn't Sony have been hanging around BitSummit?

Companies that I dunno how I should feel about:
  • Namco, new Tekken, new Tales. Who knows if they start teasing Dark Souls 3, but that's probably next year.
  • Nihon Falcom. I like Ys, I like Legend of Heroes, but it'll probably take them 5 years to localise new titles.

The sad nerd in me keeps screaming for The Last Guardian. I know it isn't true, however. At the earliest we'll see it next year on E3... (lol)

... what I'd like to see is at least 3 new IPs from Sony Japan and a new partnership. The Capcpom PS4-title. I want it to be a traditional game in the traditional Capcpom vein of games. The kind they don't make anymore.

MGSV gameplay demonstrations in new location and a release window, or at the very least "Early 2015". Not expecting an actual release date at all.

No TLG but we'll get Ni no Kuni 2 or something like that from Level-5
FFXV, KHIII and Type-0 from Square (let me dream). Possibly a new DQ.
One other console project from Capcom (outside of Deep Down), maybe even Ultra SFIV port. Freakin' hope for Dragon's Dogma 2.
Tekken 7 gameplay
Silent Hills new teaser
Metal Gear Rising 2 tease

Dreams... all dreams.

My predictions:

Yakuza 6 for PS3 and PS4.
Hot Shots Golf for PS4.
New Bloodborne gameplay (probably with new features).
Freedom Wars "Burst" for PS4 and Vita.
Gravity Rush 2 for Vita (hopefully, not so sure) and Gravity Rush 1+2 for PS4.
Soul Sacrifice 2 for Vita (and maybe PS4 too).
MGS V gameplay.
Maybe some Silent Hills info.

Sony may have got a deal with a mid-tier publisher like Tecmo Koei (which seems to be quite open to partnerships with hardware makers) or SEGA, and another deal with a niche publisher (Falcom, NIS, Marvelous...)

I think they won't release anything worthwhile (for Japan) this Christmas though. A relaunch around February / March 2015 (with Bloodborne as the biggest game) seems like a fairly reasonable decision.

Square Enix :
-Bravely Second playable (the producer said the game is fully playable)
-new DQ Monsters (based on the recent announcement)
-Kingdom Hearts 3D HD remix (an HD version of the game was shown at the end of the 2.5 trailer)
-DQ XI announced for ps4 (but no actual footage)-I think an insider said a big jp IP was returning to sony (and this one could have a huge impact for the ps4)
-no FFXV or KH 3

Atlus :
-Persona 4DAN-no Persona 5 before this one is out (and P5 is more likely a february release imo)

Sega :
-next Yakuza game

Sony :
-No Last guardian (Yoshida said so)
-New gravity rush game for ps4
-New IP or the revival of an old IP from Japan Studio for ps4
-at least 1 new game for psvita

Nothing. TGS have been abysmal the last 3 years at the minimum.

At best :
New MGSV trailer
FFXV update
RE7 teaser if we're lucky
