You may as well have. I don't see how he's getting "uglier". He's just a bald guy with a scar and sharp facial features.

EDIT: Oh! I forgot about his long flowing locks...

Not just talking about that. Just the some of the drawing/animations have been making him just look weird. Seemed to get more and more prevalent as it went on.

As for if spirit bending is worse than murder, I find it preposterous. The nonbenders of this show are immensely capable people. Bending can be a part of who they are to a great degree, but I liken it to losing a limb or something: people can live and continue accomplishing great things, including the thing they used their now lost limbs for, without them.

Really, taking away someone's bending is like castrating a sex offender, a harsh comparison, I know, but one that seems more apt to me. In California, multiple offenses results in either chemical or surgical castration.

In essence, that's what Aang did, spiritually castrate Ozai.

Ozai primarily used his bending for murder. He can still kill people, so the comparison isn't apt, where as a castrated person cannot have intercourse.

That's awesome but that's not how the show wants us to see it. We can transpose reality into this show but we have to go by what the show presents us. If we continue assuming we may as well wonder why stupid battle strategies were used, why they took the long routes, certain animals, how intelligent animals really are, etc. It's their universe. They showed us and we can only assume as much that's presented. If you want to say they'll be lost without it you can but you're really just transposing real life into this fictional world.
This isn't a smartphone that I project into the world, it's just the conclusion of what I've seen and my logic. You may think it's wrong, but in my eyes it's pretty clear, when we strip the problem down to the core:

Some people are born with the power to bend, others are not. While the latter may envy the benders there is a of now no way to replicate the powers. They can't bend and they know it. On the other hand, people with bending powers discover in their youth that they have it and it's part of their life. They may invest time into learning how to use them, they know its part of them and for all they know, its something they keep until they die. It's a part of their normal body functions. And suddenly, one day, someone take it away. Although they know that there are people who lived all their lives without bending, they have something take from them what is theirs and only theirs.

It's like you're born with wings, used to soar through the skies and someday someone cut them off. You know a lot of people who have no wings, who live perfectly fine without them. But you know how it was to be above the clouds, to chase birds, to see the world from a viewpoint your fellow people couldn't see.

I think its better if we stay in general and not go into the details of an example.

I understand your reasoning but it doesn't fit in with Aang's world view he's acquired throughout his journey. You can look at it from a third person view of Aang commiting this bend, but it doesn't make it brutal to Aang or to the universe in which it occurs. Saying it would be better to kill him seems like a reach. Bending isn't shown to be the one true purpose for benders. If we want to compare Korra to ATLA we can show you that new Air Benders didn't care about air bending. They had other goals and desires. You can say, "well, they were given it later in life" but that's some bad reasoning as, if we want to transpose real life ideas to this world, people wouldn't still be playing video games all day if they could fly. See what I am saying?

You must confuse me with somebody. I never stated that losing the bending would be worse than death. I merely reacted to you claiming that Sokka losing his boomerang would be the same as a bender losing his bending, which I wanted to explain would not be the case in my reasoning.

And the air benders, are a unique thing. That was like someone randomly getting super powers and being confused at first. The benders who rejected Tenzin didn't reject because they didn't want to use their powers, but because Tenzins bad explanation what would happen to them while training.

And "people wouldn't still be playing video games all day if they could fly" I don't understand at all.

The airbenders are now a unique case? Any evidence towards this is unique but no evidence but conjecture on your side is legit? Korra even tried to explain it in a cooler fashion but it didn't jive. The family man said he had a family and a farm, guy in basement just didn't even care, etc..

What I mean is if in the real world (our world where this is written), if people learned they could fly or had super powers. Do you really think their first thought is to keep the farm going or be apathetic to the idea of having super powers? Clearly the world of Avatar isn't mentally the same as ours.

Of course are the airbender a unique case. It's an irregularity in the world, where else did people get random powers out of seemingly nowhere? The confusion and chaos originated in the sudden new case, that wasn't there before. Nobody freaks out, if an earthbender child starts to move stones. I don't know why you want to debate that.

And people are interested in their powers, aside from basement guy, but just don't want to follow Tenzin to some temple to revive some nation that didn't exist for over a hundred years. I guess they are working on their own to discover their abilities. Just imagine you suddenly could ignite objects with your mind and then the Dalai Lama knocks on your door and tells you that you come with him, give up all you have and become a buddist at Tibet to master your newfound ignite stuff ability. It's not something a lot of people jumping happily up for, especially if they're husbands, wives, fathers and mothers who take care of their families.

See how it's a silly argument to bring our world into theirs?

You have to show evidence where a bender gives up their life if they lose bending. No character on the show who has gained or lost bending has ended it. Sure, they were sad but that's about it. In their world bending isn't the end of the world. It's the same as losing a leg in our world. It isn't the end of the world. Your life isn't over. We can say, "Well, it is" but it's not a strong argument, it's just a gut reaction you think they will probably make.

You're still not understanding the world and the way the writers wanted to present it. You're replacing your own ideas on top and trying to make it into something it's not. I cannot discuss this with you as you're not discussing what happens in the show but what you think happens based on your real life experience. You have yet to provide anything from the show that supports your side except, "Well, they were born with it. How would you feel if you lost a limb?"

Do you even read what I write or are you just arguing to argue? I did claim exactly that. Where in the world did I write that anyone would end the life when losing bending?

I am not a chair, Mr. Eastwood.

Just stop it you two. Enough.

Here's an awesome design for the finale. Notice the White and Red Lotus. Via Reddit and from this artist at Deviantart:

While you didn't say they'll commit suicide you called it crippling and pretty much alluded that their existence is based on their bending such that if they lost it they would be ruined.

Now please show evidence from within the show of this being the case.

Man people get so emotional in this thread. Nobody should get this emotional over Korra, there are better shows to lose your temper over.
I am getting emotional about having my words twisted. But I took it to PM, should've sooner seen that this is bothering everyone else. Sorry.

It looks beautiful.
If my gurl Revy wouldn't smile at me on my desktop right now, I would make it my wallpaper.

That might be the classiest piece of fanart that has resulted from a show ever. I say so because it doesn't involve a Mary Su character, cosplaying, gender-swap or original characters do not steal

glad it is two episodes again

If Tenzin did die but he took one of them with him, that would be grand

I was a bit disappointed that Zaheer needed to gang up on Tenzin.
I don't think he'll die since the episode ended before showing the conclusion.

If he does die, using the technique Zaheer used on the queen in reverse to explode one of their lungs beforehand would be great.

Ahhhh, they removed LOK Book 3 from Amazon Instant Video. Could it be to prevent the episode from going up before it does on Nick.com?

Maybe Amazon told Nick they can't reprogram the time the episode is up (new episodes have been going up hours before it does on Nick.com), so they just removed all of Book 3 at once and will put it back up after Nick does at 12pm EST/9amPST.

EDIT: Never mind, it's back up.

The smart thing to do would be to go to sleep now and wake up early to watch the finale if it indeed goes up on Amazon in a few hours.

However, that is probably not what I'm going to do.
