Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

At the loss of their reputation? I can see them backing a leak and then it's revealed to be fake, but for them to 100% fabricate a leak isn't in their best interest in the long run.

Sakurai... DO SOMETHING.

The fascinating thing is, they think of themselves as an authority on leaks. Maybe they've spent so much time disproving them that they finally said "Hell, we can do this better" and that lead to a massive, highly thought out leak?

Probably not.

Looks like a TV show.

Smashboards' audience is basically a revolving door of 12 year olds who don't know or care about reputation and a bunch of tournament players who have nowhere else to go. Being wrong about something isn't going to harm them at all, it just means they won't be trusted for leaks in the future (6+ years from now when the next smash bros happens)

How does this MasterLink guy even get the game so early? How does anyone who lives in the US obtain the game that ISN'T in nintendo?

I can understand someone from the internal development team having a copy of the game in Japan but I doubt anyone from NOA would have a copy they're playing at home right now besides MAYBE someone from treehouse but that's it...

This "leak" does not please sakurai. He hasn't thrown a single bone.

The palutena "leak" gave us viridi and palutena's temple lol.

Is he claiming he got the game? I thought these leaks were the byproduct of leaked ESRB rating footage...

If he claims to have the game then I'd definitely call bullshit to his claims though.

He doesn't. He has pictures. It's the same small set of pictures "everyone else" has and has leaked. They were given to a small group of Brawl Modders and they leaked it onto 4chan. MasterlinkX is delusional power tripping and trying to control this entire thing by teasing that he knows more information and has misled people to "save jobs."

Nothing he says or does from this point on should really be taken into consideration. He's trolling, hard, and has been generally awful this whole time.

He claims he's a leaker who's been leaking pics I think.

I don't know, something feels off here. I think these "leakers" are either bullshitting or someone's about to lose their job cause they trusted their big mouthed friend.

EDIT - Sorry, I see he just has pics he's leaking.

I have no doubt that Smashboards is frequented by people who were toddlers when SSB64 came out, but even among their userbase, I would think many would be disappointed that the mods would go out of their way to create a fabricated leak and promote it so heavily. Imagine if Evilore and Bish made something up and then it was revealed they were lying the whole time. Many people here would certainly think less of them.

I thought the original proof of why they backed the first leak so heavily was flimsy at best (THE COLORS DUKE), but to take it this far is a bit too much.

Didn't Sakurai say just yesterday that the game was still in development and not finished yet? Amazing breach if somebody managed to get an American version of all things. Still nearly a month and a half out.

To just piggyback on this:

Like people keep saying, look at the images. The images are the leak. Anyone can type up text and claim things are DLC, but those images are either real or took a lot of effort to fake. They're what matters here.

If the images are proven real, then we can potentially assume other details provided alongside them might be real until those are also proven. But the images are the only part of this leak that matters.

IF these pics are real, this could change some things for Nintendo when it comes to future big releases like smash. They're probably going to make info even harder to leak and make sure less employees are prone to giving info out to friends/family.

If my friend was involved with Nintendo and gave me info on the games, I would keep my goddamned mouth shut and not be a terrible homie and get him/her fired.

The 3DS version is most likely finished by now. I would say they're pretty much touching up the Wii U version at this point. The JP version is coming out soon, you know.

Meanwhile, at Sakurai's skull-shaped ice fortress on the moon:

Sakurai, Sakur-wife and Saku-cat stand in the command room, hands behind their backs, staring gravely at a hologram of the world below.

"It is as I feared," said Sakur-cat, puffing on a pipe full of catnip.

"Indeed," said Sakur-wife. "No matter how adamant their stance, uncertainty plagues both sides. #TeamReal can't bring themselves to start thinking about potential move-sets, not until they know for sure they're no longer at risk of setting themselves up for disappointment. And #TeamFake can't resume their dreams of other roster possibilities, not until they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the leak isn't the limit."

"They are caught in a weird limbo, then," mused Sakur-cat. "But, is this really fair to them? To let them struggle so?"

Sakur-wife doesn't hear Sakur-cat because she is too busy rearranging basic shapes and colors into new menus. Sakur-cat sighs and turns to Sakurai.

"Well, you're the master," Sakur-cat said. "What do you say?"

Sakurai is floating in the air, cross-legged, his cape billowing behind him. He holds up a PotD update in his hand. A perverse smile creeps across his lips, like the Grinch, or maybe Dolan.

"Let them have filler," he said.

If that Bayonetta stuff is true...

Maybe we'll learn about it September 20th? JP release of Bayonetta 2 and it's after Smash 4 comes out in Japan.

I can imagine right now, someone at treehouse is aware of these "leaks" and if these leaks are real, they're gonna crack down on that quietly asap. lol

Anyways, I would imagine the POTD would be something not as big as a new character. Maybe a stage.

I'd say we're not getting any newcomers until the inevitable Smash Direct, which I expect to happen the first week of September. Next Friday's pic, then, could announce a Direct, but tonight - gimme my Kirby 3DS stage
something better than the KD1 stage in the leak pls

If the Smashboards mods who think themselves detectives are legitimately on to anything with their undisclosed sources regarding this leak's validity, it can be assumed that certain departments of development are only aware of partial specific information. If they were to leak what they know it would also reveal which "department" they came from. Some have theorized that employees may be given fake characters that would flag which department the leak came from.

Like, for example, Sal Romano's leaker had a list that claimed Chrom was playable but obviously isn't. The easiest speculation is that he had outdated and incomplete information, but it's also possible people have partial information with dummy data as well.

Which really is the only way I could imagine making it easier to source leaks within the company. A staff so huge would be impossible to control any other way, really.

Hence why I found it a bit odd the 3DS version was still in the works. We're getting pretty close to release. I have no idea how long it takes from the game to go gold until it reaches store shelves, so I'd hope they're finishing the debug up soon.

Bayonetta stuff too now? Is all this coming from some Smashboards mods? Because I think just her appearance would bump the game up to a T rating.

no, from a guy above who said a nintendo worker said bayo is coming

You have a crazy imagination.

That would make a lot of sense, considering that leaker got Chrom wrong AND said we were supposedly to get shulk's trailer the day before the robin/lucina trailer.

If anything, I would imagine we'll get the week after this week or the week of smash's 3DS release in japan. Realistically speaking here. I don't think we'll get some real looking info soon. We MIGHT have gotten it now, but it's still a bit early to tell so the internet needs to chill out.
