Legend of Korra Book 3: Change |OT| SCHEDULEBENDING

I don't think I'm ever going to bed tonight.

I wasn't
really moved by Korra's paralysis (legs), but probably because I know that they aren't going to make a tv show about martial arts were the protagonist is always in a wheel chair. Too cynical I guess to fall for that little emotional schtick with the tear at the end.

I think they're trying to do what they couldn't do for the Season 1 finale due to the time constraints.

The big question is: Will this involve Zaheer or is someone else going to be the main villain? I really didn't get the feeling that the Red Lotus was a big organization.

Zaheer is probably done as the main villain, although I don't think we've seen the last of him.

Korra's now going to have to learn to fly like him if she's going to stay in a wheelchair for sometime. And I actually think that's how it's going to go down. She'll "enter the void" and learn how to fly. So will other airbenders.

In fact, I'm predicting that the new Air Nomads are going to focus on learning on how to fly in order to try and bring balance to the world while Korra recuperates.

This entire season was a Book 1 redo. Korra lost her legs instead of her bending, and now they actually get to have an entire season to develop that storyline and not rush things.

Let's just hope they actually develop things and not fix her problems with the first episode.

Oh shit, that's a fantastic prediction. While I'd hate for such a rare skill to be learned so easily, that would be an awesome way to at least start the season off.

Going to sleep. Final thought for the night/early morning:

There are so many great moments, so many:

Lin telling Su she loves her.

P'li's death and Zaheer's reaction to it. The ENTIRE reaction and consequences of it (flying).

Ming-Hua's death and Mako's lightning. THAT was the most brutal death onscreen in the series. Her shrieks!

Bolin learning lavabending.

Tonraq and Korra's relationship.

The rest of the Red Lotus.

Leaving plenty of loose ends for Book 4. Excellent
.

Jinora, of course.

And Avatar Korra.

In fact, I was previously conformed with just one more Book and the series being over, but damn. Now I really want more.

Finished episode 12 loving it right now.
Those fight scenes man.

Nice to see Bolin lavabend "moments from death was a pretty good motivator"
P'Li's death was pretty damned brutal, pretty badass move from Suyin Beifong.
Really sad to see the state they left the Air Temple.

Htown going to eat some crow for this episode woops

For those that have seen the finale... does this look familiar?

Well my mind is still in a rush after finishing it
But that was a super highly enjoyable finale

The fights alone made the episode for me.
Mako finally remembered he has lightning.
Man wasn't expecting it to get so sad, really felt for Korra in the wheelchair.
Its nice to see there are still repercussions of what Red Lotus did , the earth kingdom is still in tatters and there's still the fear there may be more Red Lotus members out there.
So I guess the airbenders are going to be like the United Nations of this world now.

Trust Bolin to get one final joke in the end
"Put a sock in it literally"
Opal - "classic bolin"

That was such a fantastic final shot to finish the Book on

How did ago Tonraq even survive? Nobody saw him fall and there were no metal cops on the side of the mountain.

He said he owes his life to one of the metalbender soldiers (the ominous one which the camera lingers on).
she managed to grab him with a metal whip as he was falling past.

potential book 4 spoilers i guess???

her name is Kuvira, captain of Suyin's metal guard
shes the character that Zelda Williams voices in the show
if i had to guess, she will likely be a low/mid level antagonist (maybe part of the red lotus??) for next season. her significance was "foreshadowed" in a prior episode in which she was on the front page of a newspaper. her face was clear and i believe her name was too.

this newspaper thing has happened in book 1 with Tahno, who we had yet to meet properly in the story, and Amon. both antagonists.

Interesting
I'm all for her been part of Red Lotus if we get to see them carry over to the next Book and get some more background information on them. I'm sure there's still a lot more stuff the writers can get out of Red Lotus at the moment.

Maybe an assassination attempt on the Fire Lord/Queen? would be a possible way to get the gang over to the Fire Nation.
I just really want to see what the Fire Nation looks like now.

Just watched episode 12. Pretty good for the most part! Though I rolled my eyes at
Bolin's lavabending. Gotta have an ass-pull, huh? EDIT: Also, Zaheer's sudden ability to fly.

Now to dive into episode 13...

What issues did you have with it?
I'm curious.

Maybe it's my fault.

Maybe I shouldn't have gotten so excited
that a bad guys motivations could finally have been something other than, "I want to kill the good guy."

Or that the good guy would actually make some sort of progress on the whole 'having a spirt of pure light inside that I can talk to but don't' thing.

During the beginning of episode 13 I was waiting for Korra to contact Raava, but she never did...

Yo, that was fucking awesome.

I really hope this isn't the last we've seen of Zaheer. Also that metalbender is definitely going to be a villain next season.

honestly at this point we have to adjust our expectations because after three seasons its just not going to get more complicated than that

we're not going to get developed villains (like the shit with p'li: who the hell cares? we never saw zaheer struggling with this earthly tether bullshit and p'li had like 10 lines the whole season and died a dogs death, which zaheer quickly got over lol)

we just need to take our pretty fights and accept that there is a limit to how in-depth the show will allow itself to be. at the end of the day, korras gotta win, and the easiest way for korra to win is to punch the enemy into submission, which was this finale's strength: they didnt try any moralistic spirit crap with her.

so what you're saying is i should probably watch the rest of s3 when my goddamn home internet finally gets hooked up

Yep
It may still have a bunch of issues still but its been a highly enjoyable conclusion to the season.

Yeah the could have done a better job with those, But i've learnt now to just go with the flow and enjoy the big fights at this point and hope maybe Book 4 will give more information on Red Lotus.
Fingers crossed.
Plus this finale was so much better than the last one at least we didn't get a Deus-ex-Jinora that doesn't make a lick of sense.
Even if I don't really think Jinora deserves to be a Air Master right now.

All right, the finale had it's problems but it was really enjoyable overall. I actually really dug the scene where
Jinora got her tattoos and revealed her shaved head. She earned it.
And the music during that moment was fantastic.

I think
the not being able to walk thing did nothing for me because I KNEW it wouldn't be permanent.

The finale was okay. Best of the three, but that's not saying much.

I am not at all happy with Jinora being granted the title of Airbending Master

Yeah she hasn't really shown why she deserves it at this point apart from a few things.

How old is she supposed to be again, she's younger than Aang was in ATLA isn't she? Because doesn't this technically make her the youngest airbending master in history as of right now.

The latter point you make does not seem true. I do not think communication is possible.

And the motivation is pretty much in line with the original series as well. The reasoning behind it is what matters.

In short: adjust your expectations.

Same age. And until last episode, Tenzin did not really show us anything that suggested he was the Airbending master we were told he was.

Yeah she hasn't really shown why she deserves it at this point apart from a few things.

She literally saved Korra + the avatar cycle by orchestrating a tornado. She's earned it.

Also about the last 2 minutes:

From what I assumed, Korra isn't paralyzed. She just isn't strong enough to walk. Wheelchair does not equal paraplegic. A lot of people make this mistake it seems.

Is she confirmed paralyzed or is it she just really weak so they put her in a wheelchair so people can take care of her? I mean through that logic, Zaheer would have been dead from being thrown that high from the chain...Ending was pretty depressing for her though damn. I was hoping they'd bring back talking to the past selves somehow though.

I'm convinced that she's just weak. The injury wasn't from the fall. She almost died from mercury poisoning. Either way, A:TLA and LOK characters get all kinds of injuries that technically should have killed them.
