Legend of Korra Book 3: Change |OT| SCHEDULEBENDING

That scene with Zaheer and P'li
kissing and talking really made them feel sorta sympathetic. I wish we got to learn more about the war lord Zaheer saved her from that made her into a killing machine.

Holy crap.

There are literally 2 Aangs now. Kai and Jinora.

They have kids, then bam! Super Aang!

Haha yeah. Nice little throwback to Aang.

Well, it didn't feel natural. It felt rushed into to further hammer the point of him letting of earthly bindings. The two needed more time.

That combustion lady getting her head blown off was awesome XD, is this even a kids show??

Korra was weak AF in the avatar state but I'll just say It was because of the poison. When season 4 starts she better pay Zaheer a visit and take his bending away.

Jinora looking just like her grandpa Aang with her head shaved and the tats :3.

Bolin lava bending :D

Mako ass pulling lightning against water arm lady >_>. Otay..

More Asami X Korra moment at the last episode ;)

Yeah def. I wish the Red Lotus got more time to develop as well. One more episode would have been nice. We already knew that the Water chick and Lava guy had a thing for each other earlier. Gazan seemed like a chill dude too. Oh well.

Random speculation.

Could all the "on screen" deaths be the reason nick decided to air the rest of the episodes over the internet?

I mean it's probably just nick being nick, but I just thought it was a weird coincidence.

More of a ratings issue had to do with it being pulled.
According to Bryan on the Nerdist podcast the people at Nick couldn't care less about it and probably haven't even watched the episodes regarding the heavy content.
Its around the 1.22 mark

Bolin did suddenly learn how to lava bend.
No training at all. At least give us some examples of him trying it or something. Toph learning metal bending showed us her trying and then getting it. They even tell us she was teaching herself sand bending. The problem comes when people just snap into it like how Korra snaps into air bending. I don't care how fast they master it but don't just give it to them without any training beforehand. It's sloppy writing.

Unless Toph Beifong does it.

Well it was a life or death situation. Toph had the time to contemplate and "feel" the earth still in the metal and then exploit that. Lava really is just molten earth so I guess it'd be easier to pick up rather than needing to feel out the impurities in the metal and focus on that. Bolin isn't that good at focusing but in a life or death moment (like lava rushing for you) he could probably just try bending and it worked.

Holy shit, this finale left me really happy. Everyone had their chance to shine, and action was superb. I'm looking forward to rewatching this whole season in a bit.

I think the fact that we have 22(?) minute episodes really hinders the amount of character development they can do. If they just had a few minutes more per episode, we could have gotten a lot more mileage out of the Zaheer's crew. And I loved his crew for what we got out of them. It'd be amazing to see what a show created exclusively for online would have come up with since it wouldn't be bound by scheduling restraints.

Funny that you mention this because Nick actually went and made the episodes shorter for Book 3 & 4.
Due to Nickelodeon shortening our air times, the length of the shows decreased by a minute for Books 3 & 4. At first, I was concerned we wouldn’t be able to fit all the story we wanted into the shorter length, but it ended up working out fine.

That sucks! Bring avatar to Cartoon Network.
Hell, make a more mature Season 4 and put it on toonami >_>.
They should try to push it over the edge, they don't have much to lose now.

My dream is a dedicated special episode showing the Red Lotus just having a chill day somewhere.

No seriously I didn't find it too convincing that he couldn't escape that, unless a rock straight up smashed him and I missed it or something.

Also, someone needs to compile all the #KIDSSHOW moments into a gif lol

Why are we spoil tagging a show that's already out? :/ Who's gonna come discuss the show knowing it aired? Can we not discuss episodes as they air anymore?

Seems stupid that it just worked. Makes the writing lazy.

In my headcanon, he went after Ming-Hua after Bolin and Mako left and fled with her. Deciding, that they lost and could now make a happy family life and finally concentrating on their love life instead of changing the world.
But I really want the avatar series to continue :/. They need to find a new home for it.
Korra is tainted. If anything, they should start a completely new Legend.

Wait so is Korra crippled because of trauma or shattered legs? I assume trauma since physical injuries never happen, but the one scene where Zaheer knocked her off the ledge and she fell like 70ft to land on her feet looked rough.

Yep. They don't have enough time and its really sad. Zaheer and how this plot specifically played out would have been infinitely better across 2 seasons. But hey I still loved this season a lot. I really believe they nailed the season front to back. Of course it could have been better from a character perspective. But given the format and what we can expect from this show it was IMO spectacular.

I enjoyed this season more overall than Book 1 and 2 of Korra and even Book 1 of ATLA. I do agree with those saying that Korra feels like surface ideas without enough depth. But damn this season was immensely enjoyable even if elements are shallow.

Well, it didn't feel natural. It felt rushed into to further hammer the point of him letting of earthly bindings. The two needed more time.

Yep. Which is such a shame because it shows how great Zaheer is as a character in concept. He could have been so much more.

So I'm the only person who really liked the first season until the last 10 seconds?

Overall I'd say its my favorite season.

Book 1 had flaws but I really liked it overall. I thought the overall finale was problematic though particularly Amons rushed exposition. I also didn't love the fight sequences, they were okay.

But yeah the last 5 min were atrocious. Outside of character issues and the finale I really enjoyed Book 1 though. Ive always enjoyed it.

Ghazan
is dead. The story director and animator confirmed it in the behind the scenes for the episode.

I think, she was able to move through the avatar state, since she looked relatively good for being smashed around so much. My guess is, that the damage came over her, when she left it. Like muscle soreness, only far worse of course. I think she atm actually recovers from the physical pain, although the permanent damage is mental.

Yes, sad. They need to make another show that is planned from the start over several seasons.

Which means, that he don't appear anymore, which also means, that I can just keep my headcanon ;___;

I was still very happy with Zaheer and the finale though. Just discussing it post finale, its clear that the show could be more if they only had more time.

Good two episodes, but disappointed that they
wrapped everything up and didn't end on a cliffhanger. I guess they really are sticking to that one arc per season.

Hey, I love the ENTIRE first season. I seem to be alone in that regard.

I liked her seeing the old Avatars and thought that was the prelude to season 2 where she'd have to get her powers back. It just felt like a huge missed opportunity.

But overall, I felt season 1 had more direction...once it became "Random bad guy who wants to destroy the Avatar", it just felt less....important.

I don't know, I don't want to be a hater of the show, I still watch it. I just felt like if season 1 kept going...keep Amon around, have season 2 be her getting her powers back and having to face him again and so on from there, it would have been a lot more "legendary".

Gotta say I loved this finale and this whole season in general. And while some may not like Boilin I think hes pretty funny, when he
learned how to lava bend
his line cracked me up. If there was one downside to the season it was that it wasn't very funny. Say what you want about season 1 and 2 and how they handled things but I thought they had very good jokes, 2 had me in stitches for some parts. However if it means that we have less jokes but better story I dont mind so much. Another downside being that some people aren't really doing anything Asami in particular
when she took out that one guard I actually said to myself that it was nice that they let her do that, that shouldn't be happening.
However those fight scenes were incredible especially
Zaheer and Korra's fight in the air
. And those feels at the end.

Thinking about next season as well
I really like the idea of a broken Korra and i hope that plays into it quite heavily. Not really sure where they can go from here apart from cleaning up the earth kingdom while adding a new villain (possibly remaining red lotus) and Korra trying to overcome the events of this season
. But overall loved season three and looking forward to season 4

Edit:
I also dont think she's crippled just recovering form her fight

Yeah, it was enjoyable all around, in the end.

Well, actually no.
There is still the Red Lotus. I expect the fourth season to be a lot of "hail hydra"

Ghazan

Shame, I thought he and the water chick could have lived and went on with their lives now Zaheer is captured. Water chick could still be alive but it is looking like more and more of a stretch.

In my minds eye Book 4 should be titled Chaos. Red Lotus emerges, Equalists and a brand new threat from what went down in Ba Sing Se. It'd be a great way to address several issues from previous seasons and go out on a high note.

What I don't understand is why
Katara
didn't appear at the end, considering
Korra's poisoning and how fucked up her three kids got by the Red Lotus. Her healing powers really would have come in handy.

God damn
I was caught off guard when P Li blew her head off, had to pause and rewind that moment.

I liked how they tied in Amon and Unalaq with all the villains having the theme of the world not needed/wanting the avatar. Damn I miss Amon.

Oh now you lightning bend Mako, all those other damn times you could've done it but finally you bring it out. The second he landed in that pool of water I was practically screaming in my head for him to shoot lighting in it and electrocute her.

Bolin was making me cringe really really hard when he was on the airship doing that bird call stuff, just....just stop man.

Team Alive wins which is of no surprise to anyone.

not gonna lie when Su's evil captain lady(come on she might as well have been holding up a sign that said "im evil") was talking to Tonraq it almost felt like they were planting the seeds of an affair, that would be funny.

Korra only had one fight this season where she was 100%, i wonder how long her crippled state is gonna last

I am disappointed that they broke with the season titles.
Up until now, the title showed what the avatar learned to bend in that season. Water, Earth, Fire, Air, Spirits - and now Korra seemingly can't even bend her legs.

Got a question about a character.
After Korras dad is rescued the metal bender woman was mentioned by name by him and they shared this look and a closeup of her. I have no idea who she was. Anyone got an idea?

I liked it. Wasn't blown away but it was a solid way to end the season.

zaheer flying was a bit weird. That scene with him and his girlfriend was super cheese. Ending was nice. Tenzin should have died. Bolin and mako has awesome action scenes. Bolin lava bending was a neat bait and switch. He lava bended the save way korra air bended in season 1, which i know some people will take issue with. I thought it was a bit questionable but ultimately fine. Zaheer needed more back story.

Ultimately I think the red lotus as a group should have been introduced back in season 1 and each season just been a different faction. That way they could do the villain per season without it feeling as disjointed. The villains all had similar desires, I wish they explored that.

Season: A
Finale: B

Yeah, it was enjoyable all around, in the end.
Well, actually no.
There is still the Red Lotus. I expect the fourth season to be a lot of "hail hydra"

I meant
Zaheer and his team. A lot of people were expecting them to cross over into S4. I don't see the final season having a big focus on the Red Lotus, but I'm just cynical because of what happened (or didn't) after S1.

Don't forget also the whole little issue of the Earth Kingdom being in tatters.
Oh yeah the metal bending guard Kuvira seemed pretty suspect if only due to the super ominous music playing in the back as the camera panned on her.
also Kale hydra

Probably a Red Lotus agent that will play a part next season.

Katara
didn't appear at the end, considering
Korra's poisoning and how fucked up her three kids got by the Red Lotus. Her healing powers really would have come in handy.

Healing is limited, even curing Zuko's scar took special water from Katara. I think it is safe to assume the injuries from the poison and battle have already taken a heavy toll on Korra and healing techniques can only put her in the position we see her in.

Everything you'd want from Korra couldn't have happened. If you take a look at the history of the shit Korra (the show) has gone through, you'd know why an entire Amon series couldn't happen.

Don't have much else to say except

KORRASAMI LET'S GO. THE DREAM IS REAL GUYS.

She's Kuvira a metal bending guard thats been in a couple of episodes so far and going by that ominous music maybe a possible villain?

Healing is limited, even curing Zuko's scar took special water from Katara. I think it is safe to assume the injuries from the poison and battle have already taken a heavy toll on Korra and healing techniques can only put her in the position we see her in.

Even then you would think she would be there just to see her Granddaughter become an Airbending Master.

Season 2 > 3 had a solid amount of continuity between them, so I don't mind the villain per season. But they should have and could have made season 1 flow better into season 2 especially since there was a lot left unresolved and especially because korra should not have gotten her powers back at the end.

Season 2 could have been infinitely better than it was, even if I did enjoy it enough.

I think Zaheer being alive and jailed means, that they visit him at least once. I expect him to be a bit Hannibal Lecterish. Maybe he is getting a mask like Korra did, so he can't breath much air in or something.

Don't forget also the whole little issue of the Earth Kingdom being in tatters.

Right, kale hydra :D
Forgot about the Earth Kingdom, too. This gonna be interesting.

Of course it could have happened. They didn't need to write a completely self contained season. They didn't need to kill off Amon. They didn't need to give Korra back all of her bending. They didn't need to give her control of the Avatar state.

The original Avatar series was only picked up for 12 episodes and would have ended on "The Storm" had Nickeldeon not picked it up for three seasons as it was airing. They still wrote it as if they were going to get those episodes anyway.

Just looked up the character. She is voiced by Zelda Williams. Well I guess it makes more sense now.
