So is there a particular reason why the entire Royal Knights line-up never been known before now? I never got the point of that secrecy.
Eh. I don't care much for a manga character that has no appearance in the series.
As it stands I think it's more probable the new season will just introduce a new girl altogether for Tai to be with. Given the choice between totally new character or obscure reference to the franchise's history, well it's is the 15th anniversary is it not? This new season
should be all about continuity nods left & right.
02's "everyone gets digimon" was the biggest load of bull I've ever seen and is my first biggest wish for a retcon.
I regret not saying more about the epilogue before, that was pretty stupid too. Also Matt being the first astronaut on Mars, HUH?! & if we presume most of the digi-destined married outside of the group, then why did they bring their kids & not their spouses? Why bother having all of the 2nd season mons split their forms into separate bodies if doesn't do shit in actually beating the bad guy? HOW THE HELL DOES DAVIS HAVE NO DREAMS FOR MYOATISMON TO TRAP HIM IN?! I'm pretty sure I could name
one fantasy of his. Actually two, didn't he mention his noodle cart dream job in the same episode? It could've been that instead. Great moral for the kiddies BTW, don't bother having aspirations, they'll just trap you. -_-
FUCK. THAT. FINALE.
As I said, they won't but I'm never going to be interested in Matt/Sora because they were too forced and horribly developed.
At the time I actually liked the general concept of subverting the typical male lead/female lead hookup expectation. Execution of course left a lot to be desired & well, trope subversion purely for subversion's sake shouldn't be the sole reason to go against your audience's wishes.
Still, I remember Matt & Sora having a heart to heart late season 1, I can't recall off the top of my head similar moments with Tai & Sora back then. I should really get back to rewatching it on Netflix, I probably just don't remember too well the Tai/Sora moments. Well ok, the Etemon arc rescue obviously, but I think they made that out to be more about Tai's personal character growth & leader-protecting-his-followers than anything.
Now I wouldn't mind TK/Kairi but I think the only romance pushed was Davis liking her and him just being jealous of TK's friendship with her. I wouldn't mind either couple happening but that terrible 02 ending needs to be gone for either to happen.
To be fair, I don't think Adult!TK outright stated they
weren't married but one would imagine that he would've mentioned if they were. However, since the ending narration was basically the last chapter of his auto-biography, we could go with the theory he didn't mention it in
that chapter because it was brought up in earlier chapters. That leaves the door still open.
I always liked a Tai/Hikari pairing
.....no, not touching that one.
