I don't see why smashing the ice into small shards somehow makes it disappear. Shouldn't he had been able to regather it easily?

I dunno, but I really loved when they used these slow down FX in this finale. They used it in another moment I think (with Zaheer?) I forget. But it was bad ass.

Can we all take a moment and appreciate
P'li's death? That was the biggest holy shit moment of the finale for me.

FOR KIDS

I'll be honest, the overall fight was engrossing and epic, this moment didn't hit me as hard as it should have. I went back and re-watched it and was like HOLY FUCK. The entire sequence was ridiculous.

That was a great finale, everything was great. And the fight was awesome,
Korra finally pulling some amazing stuff in avatar state.

Also, while I knew P'li was tall it never occurred to me how much until she kissed Zaheer. It was like he had to stand on his toes to kiss her XD

"If I'm going down you're going down with me!"

*starts cave-in*

*Bolin saves Mako and himself instantly*

Ghazan: shit should've thought that one through since they were right next to the e-

*crunch*

It could be me, but I really felt that scene had been edited a bit.

I never got why the White lotus did not help Korra capture Zaheer, didnt seem to know about him or xai bau,or why the Red Lotus wanted to free Vaatu at all,

Amazing insight, thanks for this!

Really good analysis of the final moment.
Although I would add, I actually do think Korra is happy that the air nation was saved, and that Jinora is the first master since her dad. I think she's conflicted in this moment though (because of what the Reddit post outlines), and also just the overall suffering and what she's had to give up to achieve this goal.

Korra has always been the avatar that struggles for relevancy. The world is changing drastically, and as it moves to a modern society with technology and modern governments, the Avatar's role is becoming increasingly more problematic (I wouldn't say obsolete). It's basically a "where do I fit into all of this" kind of situation.

I keep searching for date on the next season, and disappointed.

But then I found out there are 2 Korra games being made. Wohooo!!
Platinum's Korra and turn-based 3DS Korra is going to be soooo good.

#teamalive

Eh seems similar implications as Jet in ATLA, and he ended up dead. Surviving a cave in which he intended to die? Only reason I could see him alive is if they had a use for him. And unless Bolin needs a teacher to learn how to lavabend, and he's willing to teach, he had his time. So yeah he's dead Jim.

We wouldn't get a date for a long time. We didn't even get a date for Book 3 until two weeks before it aired! Granted, that kind of release wasn't normal (and was possibly moved up because the leaks). But past seasons were announced like 2 months before they aired I think.

Someone else can probably do a better ETA than me, so I won't attempt a guess. But I can't imagine we would get a date for at least half a year.

Producers said he was dead I think. I mean, they can always change their mind in between seasons. But I don't see why they would bother.

For those complaining about the baldness, how else did you expect they'd put a tattoo on her? They'll probably do a time skip and she'll have hair again. I mean look at the female air bender avatar plus they've already said they won't follow everything exactly as the old Air Nomads

This is what I came here to post. I was expecting her to come out looking like Yangchen, but I guess that's probably how she got her tattoo as well, then just led the back half of her hair grow back in.

Could still be relevant to the whole
Red Lotus is still out there bit, but it would be kinda lame if he survived and broke Zaheer out again with a rehash (likely won't happen. If anyone is coming back it's probably Zaheer again.

Mgm, I just thought. What are they going to do about Zaheer going to the spirit world? Even if he is physically in jail he can still share information and knowledge and order the Lotus. Or are we getting some kind of permanent torture so he can't concentrate?

I didn't even think about that. Damn. They've had death on the show quite a lot now, they should just execute him lol

I just hope next season won't take as long as TLA final season to air.

If I remember correctly, they did like some extravaganza with the final half of the season that was awesome. There was an episode a day from Monday to Thursday, then on Friday they played the whole 4 part finale. It was amazing. Granted it took like a year from the first half to get to that part.

Constantly pester him I guess so he wont be able to concentrate

they burned 10 episodes in 5 days. nick couldn't get rid of the show quick enough.

The power levels in this show are completely out of whack. It's just so ridiculous that Zaheer is that good in that short of a time frame.

Other than that, really good finale on multiple levels. First season that was actually legit good.

Fuck, I wish they had gotten into their grove much earlier as S1 and S2 are a blight on the show.

Flying doesn't seem too strange as a thing airbenders might do. Sky bison do it all the time. As with a lot of other stuff, the only aspect of it that maybe needs explanation is why it's not more common.

Let me tell you about Guru Lahima

I'm pretty sure you need to have zero earthly bounds as Zaheer pointed out which would explain the very nomadic lifestyle of the Airbenders. Still doesn't explain the rarity as you'd imagine that a nomad born without ever seeing their parents would have no earthly bounds but whatevs.

Probably most Nomads still had friends, or even father figures like Gyatzo was to Aang, only Guru Lahima was crazy or lonely enough to attempt it.

Henry Rollins is just as despicable as the character he voices.

Zaheer is fine if not overpowered for the sake of being a strong villain, but I have no love for Rollins.

Robin Williams loved Cowboy Bebop and gave me joy that many other actors never could. He voiced Genie yo. Genie.

If I see him Rollins, you best believe I'll be hatin'

edit: Chariot could you post that OH YOU face of Opal again? I want to save that.

Wow, that ending.

I actually feel for Korra and even before reading the Reddit link about it, it made sense when I saw it. She is realizing that the time of the Avatar is coming to an end.

Whenever I see an action scene I just think about how TLA had better fights. Or more interesting ones. Perhaps im misremembering. but the skill and ability of katara, zuko, toph and aang all grow and mature through three seasons.

They weren't necessarily better animated but probably more interesting in terms of skills as the good guys were masters of their domain while the good guys here are more of decent fighters with skills. Toph was especially entertaining to see fight, but so was Zaheer with his airbending breakdancing.

Outside of the TLA finale, I've preferred all the fights in Korra. They are usually smaller in scale, but generally better animated and choreographed IMO. Still need to see the season 3 finale.

I still remember the days when people bitched that the choreography of season 1 was junk compared to A:TLA.

Not only is
the Earth Kingdom
an unresolved thing, but so is
the spirits invading people's homes problem.
Just something to think about.

Yeah, I only recently watched a Toph montage, and from the looks of it she alone would probably wreck almost everyone in LoK. Not to mention people like Aang and Azlua. The only LoK fight I can think of that even get's in the same ballpark is
Zaheer vs Avatar State Korra.

Edit: When it comes to the children of Team Avatar, most of the time Lin seems to be the only one who's a legit good fighter. Tenzin might actually be the most highly-trained of all of them (probably because Aang focused the most training on him), but rarely decides to fight for real.

Edit 2: Where the hell are Sokka's kids/grand kids?

This was a pretty good finale. No deus ex machina saving the day, unless you count
Bolin Lava Bending, but they were hinting that Bolin was going to step it up all season, so I'm fine with it.

The writing staff finally remembered that Mako could shoot Lightning. Asami actually got to take out a henchman before warming the bench

It feels like season one without the horrible love triangle, and the cop out ending.

I still think Jinora's spirits poers are stupid.
Kai is this season's Mako(season 1), if Mako stuck to one girl.
Bolin's making joke all the time got annoying, and I hope he actually sticks with Opal next season.
Asami still feels like wasted potential.
My main desire for season 4 is that team avatar actually feels like a team, assuming they are still the focus. Bolin lava bending helps, but Asami needs something so she can be apart of the climatic battles.

Overall, this season is the closest we have gotten to ATLA quality, and I enjoyed the whole ride. Gives me a bit of hope for the last season.

Edit: Of course I also want to see Sokka's kids. He the only main character who hasn't had his children mentioned.

I'm pretty sure the next season will deal with Kora recovering and the rest of the red lotus revealing themselves but truth be told, I'm already bored of the red lotus. They seem like a society of villains straight out of an 80s comic book. If it were up to me I would bring back the equalists with a new leader.

But that's what I want!
