People are trying to explain why he's grouped in with other clones, this kind of speculation is going to happen.

Nobody's 'obsessed', they're just trying to make sense of the leak if it's true. Don't take stuff like this so personally.

They're both characters with big swords, it wouldn't be a huge surprise. A little disappointing, but better he's in as a clone than not at all. I wouldn't be surprised if Shulk got added late in development as an Ike clone in response to all the rumors about him being in the game. If they were in timecrunch mode but wanted to squeeze in a last minute fan-favorite it makes sense to go for the clone approach.

This is, after all, why Ganondorf is a Capt. Falcon clone. Last minute fan favorite.

Sole representatives of series are never going to be clones -- that would cheapen the IP. Shulk is the only Xenoblade character, and so he is going to be unique.

I agreed with you there, but I wonder if it could be Shulk's grab.

Alternate explanation: The screenshot of Shulk was faked using Ike in Brawl.

I thought it were faked by Brawl Mod by using Lucina over Marth, Shulk over Ike, Charizard and Ganondorf.

The third leak kinda brings the whole thing down for me. It looks like it could easily be an edit of a Brawl screenshot. It's not even a new stage and Shulk is really dubious with that jab.

It looks a lot weaker. However, it has a Ganondorf render that matches with the other parts of the leak.

I went over to my local Gamestop (Wish I had an alternative...) and pre-ordered both versions of Super Smash Bros. 4 and paid them off right there, not sure why I put it off so long, I was beyond hyped upon seeing the E3 2013 trailer, so I guess I just didn't think to pre-order until the other day.

My local Gamestop is not having a midnight release for the 3DS version, but they are for the WiiU version which is awesome news because thats the one me and my friends were going to stay up for and party about.

I was talking to the clerks at the checkout and they were both surprisingly enthusiastic about gaming in general. One of them was definitely more Playstation/Xbox, but the other dude was definitely Nintendo and he had some awesome stuff to say!

He said that Nintendo games consistently got more pre-orders than other games, (But despite this launch week sales were higher for PS4/Xbox titles).We both thought this was interesting and thought it showed customers were more confident in Nintendo to live up to promises set by advertisements. He also said the 3DS version of the game had more interest than the WiiU version, althought that didn't surprise me.

The thing that got me really excited though, was he said a LOT of people were pre-ordering the titles compared even to normal Nintendo pre-order levels. The other clerk who admitted she wasn't a huge Nintendo fan backed this up.

Can't wait another minute for these games! So excited and I hope this game sells well and sells consoles!

Super late response to this, but I was just making fun of the old FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE U.S DOLLARS.

I realized it would have made more sense to make that joke with the number of days in 30 years instead of just 30 years, but I was in mobile and at work, so didn't want to do the math.

I think those were speculation on the part of either the leaker or the Smashboards mod that posted the leak. It's under a big header titled "SPECULATION".

Hopefully the text version of this leak is actually true, but the image version is just a high quality fake. Would be hilarious to see the TeamFake get super excited at the next character render we see then see TeamReal half vindicated on release.

I'm going to download the 3DS version at midnight, but I'm absolutely going to be at the WiiU version's midnight launch (even if I don't own the console by then, going with a friend).

The best part about the Wii U version's launch will be playing Smash 3DS in line with everyone else who's waiting. That's going to be a lot of fun.

Basically, the Ridley part was just another rumor that was alongside a quoted version of the original rumor with Duck Hunt Dog & some others. The SmashBoards mods supposedly verified it, but I wouldn't consider that absolute.

He wanted to throw people off the trail and prevent the leak from spreading, like some sort of damage control, but it didn't work so he gave up.

And he says he has more images, that there are more characters not shown in the CSS pictures, but he won't post anything because ??????????

He just wants attention, ignore him and his crazy person bullshit. Smashboards is a bad place.
