Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

Of course, but it will be one of the most important moment in SmashGAF is that we are going to know final roster for Smash 3DS (and Wii U) in about 20 days, depend on how fast they would unlocking those characters.

Meltdown, Celebration, World Burn, Salt, Joy, Cry.

Oh, in that case, no worries!

Update on the Super Smash Summer BASH! tournament I had planned:

I'm looking to create a more "fun" tournament which will involve no banned stages or characters, aswell as a different approach to progression, all of which I shall share at a later date!

What I can say is that it will be stock based matches.

That doesn't sound fun at all.

I'm getting SSB4 second one, but only have a few hours to play it at first. By the time I get serious time with it I'm sure some goober in Japan stayed up all night and unlocked everything. I WANT TO BE THE REVEALER.

LOL dude someone already beat you to it.

#teamreal

Honestly though you should get it at least a week earlier to be "the revealer" me think

Stamina + Flower death races or riot. :P

I'm going to make an all clone tournament for GAF.

Stages: Only Final Destination versions of other stages

Characters:
Lucina: Marth clone
Falco: Fox clone
Ganondorf: Capt. Falcon clone
Dr. Mario: Mario clone
Shulk: Ike clone
Duck Hunt: Rosalina clone
Impa: Sheik clone
Dark Pit: Pit clone
Dixie Kong: Diddy Kong clone
King K. Rool: Bowser clone
Mewtwo: Lucario clone
Birdo: Yoshi clone

Items: Only 3D World cherries allowed.

While I'm still on the fence about this leak being true, but if it is, I really gotta question why they'd bring back Dr. Mario of all characters, I mean what with them doing alternate costumes, why not just make Dr. Mario an alternate costume of Mario?

I would play that tournament.

Dr. Mario was already a Smash character, being a separate slot allows him to have his own custom parts and we might be so blessed that he retains his Melee moveset instead of getting a move similar to FLUDD.

Seems like a poor choice if true. Could of easily been an alt costume with special moves.

Here are the interesting and/or new tidbits of info I managed to find regarding newcomers in the Nindori special issue:

Greninja
  • Up Special is apparently Hydro Pump, even though Aqua Jet would be a more fitting name since the move itself functions very similarly to Quick Attack. Oh, well.

Palutena (Note: I'm going to include extra descriptions from the latest Famitsu as well so you get a better idea of her twelve different specials)
  • Neutral Special: Auto-Reticle - Locks on to a target in front of Palutena and automatically fires three shots
  • Custom Neutral 1: Explosive Flame - Creates a sudden explosion a short distance from Palutena, blast expands gradually and hits the opponent multiple times
  • Custom Neutral 2: Heavenly Light - Generates a curtain of light to damage opponents, does not cause flinching, hold the button to extend the duration of the attack
  • Side Special: Reflect Barrier - Summons a shield in front of her to reflect projectiles, wall itself moves forward and pushes back opponents
  • Custom Side 1: Angelic Missile - Launches herself forward in a spiraling motion, launches opponents quite far
  • Custom Side 2: Super Speed - Dashes forward at high speed, has good knockback, able to attack and/or jump while moving
  • Up Special: Warp - Teleports in any direction, invincible while traveling from one spot to another
  • Custom Up 1: Jump Glide - Leaps upward and begins drifting to the ground, great horizontal mobility, able to turn around and attack while floating
  • Custom Up 2: Rocket Jump - Launches herself straight up with a large explosion, not much height but excellent knockback
  • Down Special: Counter - Takes a defensive stance, deflects the opponent's attack and immediately unleashes a counterstrike
  • Custom Down 1: Lightweight - Increases her speed and floatiness, but also increases the amount of damage she takes and the distance traveled when hit by opponents
  • Custom Down 2: Celestial Firework - Sends up beautiful fireworks to attack opponents, momentarily invincible while launching fireworks
  • Final Smash: Black Hole / Mega Laser - Summons a giant vortex in front of her to suck in opponents and blasts them with a huge laser beam

Pac-Man
  • One of the Bonus Fruit projectiles (not specified which one) has a homing feature

Robin
  • Smash attacks and aerials all use the Levin Sword (no word on normal attacks)

Lucina
  • Three taunts are: 1) put on her Marth mask, 2) brandish her sword as if holding it at a downed opponent's throat, and 3) placing her hand over her heart (like Marth's taunt)
  • They speculate that this screenshot from the official site is Lucina's Final Smash, but no official confirmation

Wait, she has a gliding power!?

And this thread reads like a mixture of Metal Gear Solid and a History channel conspiracy theory show at times.

With more alcohol, though.

Roster padding. Also it may be a way for Sakurai to appeal to people who were upset that Mario has been changed so much from his Melee iteration. Dr. Mario is certainly the worst clone choice, even worse than Dark Pit. Sakurai literally made the best clone choice with Lucina since it completely makes sense from a story and moveset standpoint and many people wanted her in the game, but only the biggest of goobers would want Dr. Mario as a completely separate character. They might as well put in Dr. Luigi while they're at it.

In Famitsu's Sakurai column regarding Lucina, Sakurai explained:

Initially, I had considered including Lucina as one of Marth's alternate costumes. After all, she has a close relationship with him in FE:A. In such cases, even if two characters' names and voices differ, as long as they function the same way, I assign them as alternate costumes. The Wii Fit Trainers, Villagers, and Robin are examples of this setup.

However, even though Lucina shares her physical stats and techniques with Marth, the characteristics of their attacks differ. When two such similar characters function in an even slightly different manner, I give them a separate spot on the roster since that will affect battle records and whatnot. In that sense, you could say she was very lucky to join the fray!

Like Lucina, there's a high possibility Dr.Mario started out as a (concievable) alt costume.

Dr.Mario got his own roster slot because for some reason Sakurai decided that there are minor differences in fighting style between the two.

What differences are they? We wouldn't know until we saw dr.mario in action, but I assume the established differences from melee might be behind this reasoning.

Bizarrely, Greninja never actually learns Aqua Jet in the games, so that makes sense. And we know the Galaxian is the one that homes, according to his intro video.

But fun stuff, thanks :)

Is the 3D Remake of Kirby's Adventure worth buyin'

or should I just pick up Dream Land 1 and 2?

Or just everything

3D Classics Adventure is pretty faithful to the original and doesn't appear stretched like the VC version so I prefer that one on 3DS.

DL1 and 2 are still fun and all, but Adventure's a much better game.

The Galaxian loops around. I don't think it homes.

Looping around as it homes in on you would be pretty accurate to the arcade, but I maintain that it was homing in on Fox in his video.

Plus it's the only one that conceivably *could* home in on someone.

Guys I'm trying to do this to get the Paper Mario trophy in Melee but it's not working.

After the last side tilt the sandbag is only on 129% for me rather than the 130% in the vid and it misses the stage by the tiniest bit on the rebound back and I don't understand why D:

Edit:

Just had a crazy idea that maybe there's a different in the PAL version and behold:

Ganondorf's down aerial inflicts less damage, from 22% in NTSC to 21% in PAL.

What the fuck

I am really surprised with those ones :p

How do the customs work again.
Do those even go online when doing for glory mode?

Nope, custom abilities are only for local or "with friends" online. This is a good thing as some of them are bound to be broken just by the law of averages. Though I do hope clones have custom specials as their default to help set them further apart. If Lucina and Marth have the exact same B moves, I will be disgusted.

I don't know what to believe anymore... Too many leaks!

Simply, don't believe ANY.

How do the customs work again.

Nope, not for Glory Mode, and for Fun Mode. Customization move sets are strictly for you to playing online modes with friends only.

Ouch... At least, they are making it more challenge for you to get Paper Mario! :)

Well, regardless, I'm really hoping Ganondorf has his own moves now... I mean, for crying out loud, the guy has so many Zelda games they could take moves from to give to him and for two games, they've made him a slower, more powerful clone of Captain Falcon. (though his Side B in Brawl fits him and I'd be okay with that staying in)

This and it's also probably because Dr. Mario would already have all the necessary assets at their disposal to make him possible (animations, model, aesthetics, etc). Meanwhile, someone like Wolf or Lucas wouldn't even have a model let alone their animations so it's the choice between having no character at all or having Dr. Mario.

Dat Melee PAL version changes doe.

Hmm it could be this change rather than the Ganondorf nerf screwing me actually:

'In Home-Run Contest mode, the platform is longer and the invisible back-wall is a bit farther.'

They nerfed the back-wall D:

I don't think I'll ever get him now ;_;

I'm just not skilled enough to do any of the crazy combos.

Try Yoshi's combo, tap jump + flutter kick (down aerial)? Well, I found a youtube that might work for you for Ganondorf.

Yep, Clones are easier to implemented, comparing to new characters. It suck to lose the characters that some people considered as their main or they just enjoy to play with those characters. Hopefully they would redeem that with DLC characters or so.

So here are some bits and pieces of info regarding the veterans featured in the Nintendo Dream booklet. Bear in mind that there's a lot of repeated info, but I'll try to dig through and post what I think might be pertinent.

Bowser
  • DAir is called "Scrub Brush". lololol.
  • In the "what kind of games did this character appear in?" section, the last sentence is "He also has a son named Bowser Jr." Could just be a throwaway reference, but there's no real context for it and it felt a little sudden and out-of-place. Hmmm...

It seemed sudden and out-of-place?...

>.>

*breathing slightly intensifies*

My biggest issue with the leaked roster is no Pichu.

At least, you are getting Pichu Bros on Project M. :V

Have any of these leaks said anything about how Ganondorf plays?

Not yet.

Huh.

It's exactly the same but using the bat rather than the back-wall + warlock punch.

But I just turned my Gamecube off to go to bed.

I'll do it after work tomorrow, thanks for finding it!

No problem. Anytime for SmashGAF!
