I downloaded Diablo 3 last night; but didn't launch it. For some reason it's "locked" now and can't play it offline either.

There is probably a first time verification you have to do. I had to sign up for battlenet and stuff. Sorry, man. That really sucks.

I think Bungie is hosting all the Destiny servers. However, if some 13 year-old wants to DDoS PSN that day apparently there's nothing to stop him.

I'm sure they've planned it in advance, but that doesn't mean it will be 100%. But honestly, I can imagine it either going well thanks to Activision (are CODs ever down on launch day?) or going horribly due to everyone (MS, Sony, Bungie) underestimating server demand.
