It's not that Sakurai doesn't love Prime -- it's that I feel the games are represented fairly in Smash Bros. with a stage, boss, and Assist Trophy, and so I don't understand the whining. Prime fans aren't owed a playable Dark Samus.
Dark Samus has more to work with as a playable character than Dark Pit tbh.

Also, any Metroid Prime is too much Metroid Prime if you ask me. Smash's supposed to be a celebration of the best rather than the worst games ever made.

This is the worst thing i've ever read, and i've written some shit.

So how 'bout that Cranky Kong, guys?

I think you mean Fuky Kong.

What is Samus crying about?
They don't serve baby-back ribs.

Then why bring up the "Prime is seen as unpopular spinoff in Japan" shit? Do you live in Japan?

I don't know that I would take any writing in Kid Icarus to be an example of what Sakurai likes or dislikes. The game was pretty heavily rewritten in english.
It wasn't a writing reference, it was a model reference. The space pirates in Uprising are clearly based on the Metroid Prime pirate design instead of the Super Metroid design.

Of course, it could have been a reference by another person working on the game, but it's still notable.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PIC OF THE DAY YET

EDIT: CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CAPTION

"Pic of the day. The new "Alcohol" item has a different effect depending on which character uses it. With one character, it will actually double its attacking strength. Can you guess which one?"

Hyrule Warriors is a bit too recent, plus we already have the TP Link, TP Zelda, & (What Would Have Been) TP Sheik.

I can see the whole Zelda crew (sans Toon Link) getting HW alts as DLC later down the road, but Ganondorf won't get his HW design as his default.

Even though I agree with you that it's not likely happening, I do want to bring up the point that Greninja's inclusion in the game shows that Sakurai has access to early material from other games

I swear I remember reading once that Sakurai doesn't drink often. Can't find a source for the life of me though.

And that came out last year. Hyurle Warriors hit Japan not too long ago.

Absolutely. I said "the worst", I fucking meant "the worst".

Metroid Prime? More like Metroid Crime against humanity;

It's fine to have a stupid opinion as long as you're willing to back it up with like, reasons, but right now you just kind of look like a jackass yo. Or a troll. And we've all had enough of trolls today.

Hyrule Warriors may be too recent for that - considering the game's rapid development cycle, the Ganondorf design may not have existed until after Smash's development was well underway. In addition, even with access to the early design, it's likely Sakurai would rather have most of the Zelda characters be uniform in style. Though an alternate costume or reference via palette swap may still be possible...

It's mainly that being similar does not necessitate inspiration or references.

It could easily be the case of a consumer bridging their own experiences in to separate works.
It's a total coincidence those space pirates in that one Nintendo game happen to look just like those other space pirates in that other Nintendo game.

C'mon, if they had lobster claws instead nobody would even be doubting the reference.

So how 'bout that Cranky Kong, guys?
I'd prefer him over K. Rool and Dixie.

Me too, Cranky is honestly the most iconic and memorable DKC character to me outside of DK and Diddy themselves. I think if you were to ask most kids what their favorite parts of the original DKC games were, Cranky Kong would come up very quickly.

Plus, now that he has some moves to show...Maybe next game.
