Best episode by a country mile. I had a feeling this show would get better, but it had to take its time before it got to the point where things would start to get interesting. That ending was a great reveal.

His wife's kind of a bitch. Sam says he did all this stuff and his wife calls Eph self-righteous?

Certain characters are poorly written. Remember Eph's wife and the lawyer or therapist was ragging on Eph for choosing his job over his wife even though he is part of a first response team for the CDC.

Kelly (and Zach) are much better written in the book. Here, they just exist to exist.

What is this
Guys lets get out of the car and shot this monster.
Welp, end of the would indeed. And taxi driver was stupid as hell. Why not just drive the fuck off.
The decisions people make on this show is beyond suspension of disbelief. I mean, just fucking drive.
lol, hey there is 4 of them and my taxi is working. Let me get out and waste 4 shots on one while the other 3 are around the cab.
I actually yelled at the tv when the taxi guy wouldn't drive away.

I just started the episode and had to pause it at this point just to come on GAF and see if everyone elses reaction to this level of stupid matched mine....
B-Horror Movie the TV show.

all we are missing so far is a white woman that trips and falls while running away during every episode.
A woman trying to hide from a monster, but for some reason can't be FUCKING QUIET and must scream at every possible inopportune moment.
a teen sex scene, probably in a shower, right before they get murdered.
And someone to be fully aware of whats going on and the danger they are in, but do something incredibly stupid, like walk through a door and then turn their back to the new room to lecture the person behind them, only to get killed by the very thing they were probably just lecturing the person behind them about.

now it's time to shut the brain down and go back to enjoying this show.

2014 makes me think that working for FX has GOT to be the best job in all of television. They must be drunk at like 7 am.

Vampire SWAT, fucking ridiculous and awesome. Now I know this show is going to be nothing but campy but at least I know what I'm getting into.

I'm sad that I read a spoiler on the previous page... it was marked, but I didn't know it was a book spoiler that spoiled the entire plot of the show... :(

I wanted to be left wondering who this Vamp Swat team was and where the fuck did they come from. Either way, if the stupid hasn't deterred me from this show, a spoiler like that probably won't either. I love a good stupid horror movie. And this is even better because it's a good stupid 13 episode TV Horror show.

No it didn't. It spoiled a major plot point but not the entire story nor plot. We learn that, in the book, fairly early on. It's not the entire series.

The only thing I really don't understand going forward is how The Master's vamps stand any chance against Vamp SWAT. The people being turned in NYC are just primitive predators at this point without the ability to operate outdoors during the day.

I about had an aneurysm when that fucking taxi driver wouldn't just drive off.

Yeah man, get out of the cab and start shooting. Jesus!

That episode was alright. I really liked the scenes at the camp and even the ones in the subway, even though the gun poses at the end were badly timed.

I also noticed that the symbol on Setrakian's shirt was a little different, it was gold and dark blue or purple. If it was dark blue, it means immigrant worker, which he is.

I forgot how stupid that was because the rest of the episode made up for it.

I can't stand stuff like that in the horror genre. Feels kinda like lazy writing but maybe find it fun? I don't get it.

Overall, it was a pretty decent episode.
But jesus christ, if there are other vampires out there stopping the infection then how the heck can the Master spread his seed?

Unless the vampire swat are sent by the Master to contain the infection so it doesn't spread too fast, but that's just a bit weird.

The rate of infection basically triples every night, plus as has been stated before so it's not a spoiler, we're only seeing baby Vamps at this point. Remember those games that are made to prove that vampire/zombies can't be real because they would just take over way too quickly? This is that.

Does The Master have a calculated plan of attack? Yes. But we're going into Phase II. Rampant infection. Phase I was calculated infiltration.

The vampire swat guy has fangs. Even the master doesn't seem to have those (at least I don't think he does given he has one of those giant snake tongue things).

Also, he has a nose. That tells me he's something different.

We need to stop focusing on the idiocy of the cab driver.

Eichorst lecturing and then challenging 850302 was same damn good television.

Dumb cabby being dumb aside, that was a really amazing episode. I didn't expect Shinypants McFakename to show up so early in the plotline, but I think it'll help to keep the action pacing of the series up to par. I'm really hoping they do his backstory as a full episode. That would just be badass. I don't know how I feel about him having a grandfatherly manner though.

Things that haven't been revealed in the show (such as names) should be placed in spoiler tags.

Thing is, a name without context has zero association to the plot point. You now know that
vampire SWAT guy is named Mr. Quinlan.
Based off that fact, are you able to tell me anything further about the show? At most, I've ruined a part where someone says,
"I see you've met my associate, Mr. Quinlan"
or some other contrived introduction.

Still, can we tone it down with the book spoilers?
Don't want to end up with a book thread and a TV-thread like the GoT-threads - just avoid making direct comparisons with the books outside of the clearly marked spoilers (e.g. "Book 1 Spoilers", "Book 2 Spoilers", etc) and everyone will be happy.

These past few episodes have definitely been quite the improvement. The vampire swat time are certainly an interesting addition and it should be fun finding out what their motive is in all of this.

More crazy vampire swat teams please.

Holy shit at the ending.

So many questions. Who is he, why is fighting against the vamps? It took long enough, but it's finally starting to pick up. Can't wait for next weeks episode.

Entertaining episode, although it's sneaking more and more modern vampire tropes in there as the series goes on. Please don't turn into True Blood without the nudity.

That's good to know, but I didn't know it was a major spoiler when I clicked on it... I don't mind reading minor stuff as it helps some things make sense, but that just explained a whole lot of whats going on in the big picture. I didn't want to know all that yet.

Doesn't really matter though, as I think I'm on this ride till it's over. The 1st season at least.

It would have worked so much better if he had tried to drive off, panicked when trying to not run one of them over and wrecked into a parked car like 2 houses down. Then they both have a legit reason to get out of the car. Cab driver still dies, and teh guy still runs back home. problem solved.

So basically The Walking Dead?

So basically The Walking Dead?

I don't even want to get started on The Walking Dead.
I still don't see how the slow moving zombies are even a threat unless they greatly outnumber you. They should have had that prison cleared out in a matter of days. Reinforced in a matter of weeks.

Besides, so far, this show is far more entertaining to me, regardless of how blatantly stupid so many of the characters reactions are to what is going on. It's so bad, it's good again.

First great episode of the season.

Wooo! Mr. Quinlan! I just hope he doesn't get involved with the main guys so soon.

So since I accidently spoiled the entire series, I wonder how FX will handle the
nuclear weapon and the sun being blocked for the vamps to roam earth.

HUGE SPOILERS.

MATE

That episode was superb from start to finish. Eichorst is the GOAT. The flashbacks were brilliant and that ending...

Show's improving massively. Very excited for the final episodes of the season.

wait... how many episodes are there this season?
Is ep8 the last one? is that why it was news that it was renewed for 13 episodes in the 2nd season? I was expecting at least 12 to 13 episodes out of this.

Woops thought there were 10 this season but there are 13 so there are 6 left. Still, after the latest episode I'm excited for the last half.

The show is remarkably stupid, but in a completely entertaining way. I've just decided to roll with it and now I'm having a blast with this show.

That friggin Taxi Driver lol... almost lost it at his stupididty. :D Really campy, cartoon-ish show, but I can appreciate that if it's done correctly. The Strain has a long way to go, but it hasn't turned me off yet.

So nanny and kids run into a dark corner instead of running out the front door that they left wide the fuck open.

Why is there so much stupid in this show? I'm just sticking around for Fet at this point. And maybe Vampire Assassins Creed Squad. They seem chill.

Taxi driver scene was hilarious. So bad, but yet so good. :D
That scene actually short circuited my brain seeing him do something completely illogical like that. It took me a good 3-4 minutes to reboot my brain OS. Just drive motherf**er!

The rest of the episode was really entertaining. Vampire hunter-killer squad was badass and completely surprised me. I missed the red insignia on the black uniform. I'm guessing it will be more important in future episodes.
