I still truly believe in my heart that we're getting the Ice Climbers. Whether it be as an unlockable or through DLC.

There's too much that points to them still being in, and I really don't see a wholly unique 1st party character getting cut with no replacement character. (Plus, the Polar Bears man, the Polar Bears!)

Also, I still think Joe's being suspicious. He didn't update his site until about launch day for Brawl, even though the characters leaked a while before then, and we knew he had inside info then. His site's not updated now, and well, we have a leak today. I don't wanna make him not wanna come on GAF, though.

He's repeatedly said he doesn't want to say whatever (if anything) he knows about Smash this time since during Brawl it was apparently a huge headache having to field questions about the Pokemon content. You're probably not going to be able to deduce anything out of him unless he changes his mind.

I just want to say that Bowser Jr. is so perfectly suited to Sakurai’s design strengths. He must’ve had a ton of fun designing the move set. Sakurai seems to like fleshing characters out and inventing attacks that reflect the source material, and the Clown Car is the ultimate sandbox in that regard. It gains new forms, extensions, and projectiles in each new game it appears in, and so it makes sense that it would have even more tricks up its sleeve for Smash Bros. The tongue, the cannonball, the eject button… everything so ingeniously encapsulates the spirit of the Super Mario series.

For me, Bowser Jr. in a Clown Car is the perfect example of a “I didn’t know I wanted it” character.

Totally agree. Never knew I wanted this, but I'm ecstatic to try him/them.

At one point when I got the swimsuit in Xenoblade, I tested it out on different characters, and at the time it gave Reyn the best stats. So for a while I had him running around Bionis shirtless. I felt a bit bad whenever it started to rain. I'd like all of Shulk's teammates to be a part of Shulk's Final Smash, in a coordinated Chain Attack Final Smash.

I'm betting Shulk will have the Monado Buster as his FS. Giant ass laser blade death to everything on the screen.

I'm mostly happy with the new characters, Shulk especially. I don't understand how the hell Lucina, Dark Pit or Dr. Mario get in before the effing Ice Climbers though. They put in clones over an existing set of characters with a unique play style? I don't even use the ICs and I sense the BS in that. All three of them, even everyone's favorite waifu Lucina should have been off the table if it meant cutting originals, and that's from a guy who mained Roy in Melee.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Sakurai had a lot of fun with designing the move sets for many characters. Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Greninja and Robin are, " I didn't know I WANTED IT!" When I want Bowser Jr but I didn't pegged that he would have clown cart. I think Sakurai did it just perfect when he came up with moveset for clown cart.

As far as I know several people have been in contact with a Nintendo representative. What I'm wondering is if it's the same guy that is rumored to have been an NoA employee that just leaked everything. And if so did he pass along more information beyond just the ESRB video. It's all speculation at this moment, from both ends.

I have a 3DS but I'm gonna wait anyway. I know it goes against the general opinion of this thread but I don't think the 3DS version looks very good, so I'm going to wait so that my first experience of it will be good, rather than burning myself out on an inferior version and paying double for the privilege.

When I say it doesn't look good I mean in terms of visuals compared to the Wii U version but mostly in terms of stage design. I haven't like what I've seen of the 3DS stages at all.

Personally I think it would be a crime to include Shulk but not have his Monado super extend for a move.

Considering the Kanji cycle, I think all the Neutral B stuff is buffs of some form only.

Oh yeah, that's true. But that "leaker's" specific internship claims directly contradicts what Nintendo's corporate website says.

They probably do internships in Frankfurt and Kyoto, but definitely not in America or Canada.

All-Star mode aside, just a quick look at the CSS is strong evidence that there are 5 more characters.

There is zero rhyme or reason to create such an awkward row structure and waste so much space if that were the final roster. If it were final, they probably would have simply increased the icon sizes of the characters so that they would be easier to select.

Additionally, many of the more legitimate leaks suggest at least 3 more characters.

That's all I've seen. The images and videos appear to be legitimate. The mysterious five slots are continually called into question because at this point its all conjecture. Nothing to back up anybody's claims.

While it's a shame for IC fans, I suspect more people will play Lucina than have probably played Ice climbers collectively across all 3 previous games... and sadly I'm not saying that because I think Lucina will be popular either. I suspect a lot (but I emphasise, NOT all) of the people who say that they're saddened at IC going, probably never play them at all
That said, I doubt IC are cut anyhoo... I'd be more prone to believing it if the Polar Bear wasn't staring at us from smash run over the top of it's Ice-climbers branded stylish shades :3
