Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

The one thing that doesn't make sense that the Gamexplain guys brought up: I fail to see how the Gematsu guy can get Shulk (and a lot of his other predictions) right but not Chorus Men? Especially after today's reconfirmation of the Sneaky Spirit Smash Run enemy. I could understand the justification for the Polar Bear enemy being in the game without Ice Climbers due to them already having been enemies in previous games, but not Sneaks. Not when we haven't seen a character thus far from a major series without a character. For all that, I would think we'd have seen other enemies from various series already. We haven't. To just randomly pick an enemy from Rhythm Heaven given what we know is just too coincidental.
 
This is the ideal for me. Brings back all vets minus Ivy, Squirtle, and Snake :'( and isn't too greedy with the characters we haven't seen yet:

I don't think there are any more characters then. I don't see how that leaker manages to nail all the cuts and additions (Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, DHD, etc.) get several details right about new characters like Bowser Jr. and Shulk, but conveniently fails to mention Ridley and the rest.

IMO it definitely wasn't fake... But the information wasn't 100% accurate.

Gematsu Leak 1

Wii Fit Trainer: Confirmed
Pac Man: Confirmed
Mega Man: Confirmed
Villager: Confirmed
Little Mac: Confirmed
Miis: Confirmed

Gematsu Leak 2

X/Y Pokemon: Confirmed (at one point in development it was just called X/Y pokemon as the name wasn't finalized)
Shulk: Confirmed via leak
Chrom: Final smash'd
Palutena: Confirmed
Chorus Men: ????

He got 9/11 and there is still a chance he could be right with the Chorus Men which would make it 10/11. If anything this new leak more or less cements the idea that the Gematsu leaker had info from a very early point in development hence the lack of certain characters and Chrom not being in and Robin/Lucina being there instead.

He's already 80% correct and if Chorus Men end up being revealed/confirmed that would put him up to 90%.

How do you feel Smash 4 did with it's newcomer selection? I made this picture so you try and think of the newcomers as a whole, not just the ones leaked.

Me personally? A few missed opportunities aside, fucking stoked. 15 new fighters is nothing to scoff regardless of clones, and you could even bump that number to 17 if you count the Mii Fighter as 3 different characters.

This is a pretty incredible list of newcomers, honestly.

Bowser Jr. isn't a character I ever would've put in if it were me in charge, but what they've done with him is pretty awesome. I just feel like he's sort of...second-rate, not really the kind of character who you'd expect to headline Smash Bros.

And, well, Dark Pit. Dark Pit, why did you even come here?

The rest, though, all perfect choices, with several of them being dreams come true for me. If there's any disappointment it's just "no Rhythm Heaven guy" and "literally all the characters I was any good at playing as are gone"

He was wrong about Chrom. I personally think that while he might have had concrete evidence of some characters, he made assumptions about others, like maybe "oh, Chrom has a detailed model, maybe he's in." Perhaps a similar situation occured with Chorus Men? Or maybe they'll still be in? It is a mystery.

After Robin, Gematsu leaker said he was 100% sure on Shulk, not so for Chorus Kids, for what it's worth.

If it is indeed true that All Star - a mode unlocked by unlocking all characters - I don't see how the roster can be complete.

Considering the Gematsu list seems to have been based on information from very early in the game's development, a Rhythm Heaven character could have easily been planned, partially developed, then either cut or shoved into DLC. Or they could be in the final release; but not in the build used to create the ESRB video.
 
There are totally more characters than what we've seen already. There have to be. I'll believe until the day the game launches.

Even if there aren't though, I'm pretty satisfied with what we've got.

To be fair, that was because he said Shulk was going to be revealed when Robin was. He didn't say anything about the Chorus Kids because that wasn't what he was discussing at the time.

Second is from MFL who isn't trustworthy. First would be amazing but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Though unless we see the ESRB video in its entirety, we can't be sure if the menu and CSS screen were even part of the same 'take' - a completed roster and incomplete menu screen being spliced together in something intended to give a general idea of the game's content isn't an impossible idea.
 
I don't think Greninja being called "X/Y Pokemon" early in development give any credence to Gematsu. I know lots of people were predicting "an X and Y Pokemon," it's just safe wording to predict a Pokemon from the newest games. I'm not saying Gematsu was fake or the leaker didn't know about Greninja, but that tidbit doesn't really make the case.

Yeah that's what people said of the Gematsu leak. Look how it turned out.

You guys have to understand that it's extremely difficult for one leaker to know everything by himself, because he might have heard things from another guy who doesn't want to reveal everything, because they simply have access to partial information or because they've seen only part of the game due to their work (marketing? ESBR? audio dep? third party developer? external contractor? playtester?), etc.

It's MFL repeating what NeoZeo said a few days earlier but passing it off as his own info like they did for the DLC. It could still be legit, unless NZ was getting that info from MFL in the first place.

Chorus Men just doesn't seem like a character Sakurai would give up on unless there were serious problems that we obviously cannot account for, especially given all of the other newcomers we've seen this far. Every other character on that list survived the initial phase; just not Chrom, which makes sense and to be quite honest was for the best all around since most people had the biggest problem with him of the leaked characters. I'm still rolling with my Boys.

Way I see it, the first Gematsu leak was legit, but the second was fake. The first leak got all 6 of its characters right, including Wii Fit Trainer--the chances of someone correctly guessing WFT alone were pretty much non-existent. The second leak, on the other hand, only got two characters, Palutena and Shulk, right. Palutena was an obvious pick, and Shulk wasn't an off-the-wall choice either, even if he wasn't as safe of a pick as Palutena. And we know it got Chrom wrong.

We don't even know for sure if the first and second leaks were even from the same person. The only thing that could redeem the second one for me is if the Chorus Men get confirmed, which is looking less and less likely as time goes on.

This was explained at E3. Greninja was added before he had a name, so he was a Pokemon from XY.

He said he was 100% sure on Shulk AFTER Robin and Lucina ended up being revealed instead. He said it as reassurance that he was still certain that Shulk was still coming.

C'mon dude. People need to stop separating the two leaks. They're all one big leak. The leaker also got Greninja right on the same day the Direct where he was revealed. He didn't specify Greninja, but we already know why that is.

This is a very good point. This, coupled the Smash Run enemy and the second Gematsu leak, which I still generally trust (I know, I know, 90% correct = 100% wrong, but still...his Chrom error is easily explainable, I think,) leads me to believe Chorus Kids/Marshal are still on the roster. I'm not sure there are any newcomers beyond that, though.

A mass-produced Face unit would be a good enemy to represent the various similar Mechon you fight through the game, and a Plasma Deinos might make for a memorable minor enemy if the electricity effect was well-animated. One of the endgame Telethia would be a great boss, but it might be a little too unwieldy for a Smash Run enemy.

What? No

Pokemon X/Y weren't even ANNOUNCED at the time Smash started development, most everyone was expecting a gen 5 pokemon. Pokemon X and Y were announced in spring of 2013 and Sakurai said he planned the roster after he finished Uprising in Spring 2012. Most people thought an X/Y rep was too new for Smash Bros for 3DS/WiiU
