Was Dark Pit featured in any footage? 100% clone?Dark Pit doesn't deserve a spot in my Smash roster but he might make a good coaster for my drink!
Nope! I believe the only "new" characters we saw were Ganondorf, Shulk, and Jr.Was Dark Pit featured in any footage? 100% clone?
Pokemon should have several dozen playable characters.2. Pretty much every single character in KIU (one popular female request nonwithstanding) is a really interesting character that would make them perfect for a Smash Bros game. Compare this to the number of viable, important, and interesting characters in Metroid (Samus... Adam?), and even DK (pretty much Dixie or Cranky, and that's it). It makes sense for a game with so many characters to have more playable reps, or at least that's how I always justified Star Fox in my head.
Actively hoping for someone to be a clone rather than a full-fledged original character... that's a new one. Huh.
Never change, Smash fanbase.
I'm loving all the Dark Pit hate, as I'm pretty sure it's mostly coming from people who didn't play/are ignorant of Kid Icarus: Uprising, and those people are bad and should feel bad. Cry more, please! I can't wait to see how he plays/looks/sounds. He's more than different enough from Pit character-wise that they could do some interesting stuff with him.

Played and enjoyed it, still didn't care much for Dark Pit. There's some humor there, and I don't hate him by any means. I'm still stuck on the mindset that it seems outrageously biased for Kid Icarus Uprising to get 3 reps and a ton of other representation in the game, while DK, Zelda, and Metroid (seemingly) get shafted of additional representation.
It's not a hate for Dark Pit, it's a frustration that other franchises were far more deserving of additional reps (even as clones) before Kid Icarus. No matter how much of an Uprising fan you are you can't argue that it's a dominant or highly important franchise for Nintendo, at least not more so than Zelda or DK.
And KI doesn't deserve 3 reps if DK and Metroid can't have 3
Eh, there's two main differences here I feel.
1. Dark Pit is probably a clone, like you've said.
2. How do you feel Smash 4 did with it's newcomer selection? I made this picture so you try and think of the newcomers as a whole, not just the ones leaked.
Would have rather had Dark Samus as a Samus clone or Dixie as a Diddy clone than Dark Pit.
And I disagree that Dark Pit is an interesting character personally, was one of the stupidest parts of the game for me.
I just want to see her get in for the meltdowns. "How is this still rated E10?!" "Not gonna buy this game now, eff you Nintendo" LOLo god the comments people might have :T
Not that I can recall. Was Dark Pit featured in any footage? 100% clone?
They've gotten pretty close to it, and now they have their own fighting game haha.Pokemon should have several dozen playable characters.
Dark Samus and Dixie have different abilities though.
Dark Pits entire character is that he's pretty much a clone lol.
This is some interesting circular logic.Arbitrarily saying X series deserves Y amount of reps is so stupid. If there was DK or Metroid characters that were suited for Smash they'd be in, simple fact is there isn't, doesn't matter how big the franchises are (hell Animal Crossing outsells most other series, but it doesn't need any more characters).
It kinda makes sense though haha, basically the point is that Sakurai doesn't give a franchise characters just because it doesn't have enough characters or whatever. This is some interesting circular logic.
"A series only has characters suited for Smash when they get in Smash."

Kid Icarus had an easy clone, saying that clone shouldn't be in because the series doesn't deserve 3 characters is the stupidest thing I've ever read.
I know that, but still.
It's frustrating seeing all the representation Kid Icarus Uprising is getting whilst other (imo) more important and more popular franchises are left in the dust.
It's not even just characters either, items, ATs, trophies, Smash Run enemies, etc.
So is it true the leaker was caught¿ I saw some people tweeting about it but can't seem to find any info in the thread.
I have a source that has just informed me that Nintendo have identified the leaker. He has been fired and is being sued. He does not work at ESRB itself. He was an employee of NoA, who was sending materials to the ESRB. This is a completely internal leak.
The leaker, despite having been fired, still has a copy of the Smash Bros 3DS game in his possession; as well as one of the 3DS systems used for internal ratings. Nintendo has yet to seize these from him. It's a copy of the final build of the game.
If there is more to be unlocked in the game, such as new characters, it is possible we'll see more from him (if he still cares to share it); given that he still has it. I doubt it though.

It's not just characters, it's Items, ATs, Smash Run enemies, etc. There's some images out there that compile everything we've seen for certain franchises and compares them. The amount of content Donkey Kong, for example, has in the game is completely overshadowed by Kid Icarus content.
It's not a matter of which franchise has characters more suited (there are highly requested and well suited characters from DK and Metroid, not to mention ATs, items, enemies, etc), but a matter of those series being seemingly overlooked. Sakurai developed Kid Icarus Uprising, so when you see that particular game (that isn't part of a large or important franchise by any means) begin to have equal/greater representation than something as historic as DK or Zelda, it's really frustrating as a Nintendo fan.
I'm really happy with the roster, I truly am. This isn't even about my personal favorite franchise not seeing more exposure, it's about paying homage in the right places and Kid Icarus hasn't earned the representation it's receiving.
Kid Icarus reached three reps before Metroid.I agree.
Kid Icarus is way over repped in Smash Run enemies, items, trophies etc.
I was just saying that playable character wise, KI is perfectly fine the way it is, even next to DK and Metroid.
I have no issue with the amount of Kid Icarus content, because all of those assets were probably extremely easy to get a hold of and are well-suited to Smash (plus Uprising is one of my favorite Nintendo games to release in the span between Brawl and now), I just can't help but feel like Donkey Kong, another series to have its brand revived with a highly critically and commercially successful game, could do with a bit more. But hey, we still don't know everything in the game for sure yet, maybe it's there and we just haven't seen it yet.
But Kid Icarus still hasn't had even one boss, and Metroid might be about to get it's third!Kid Icarus reached three reps before Metroid.

Yes and yes. o.o
And while we're at it, Nintendo vs Sega (made by Capcom and Sakurai) would be amazing.
These are all so good lol. This is going to be like Smash x1000 when it comes to obvious choices not being able to make the cut.

It's a shame that whether you like a character in Smash is dependent on how much you like their source game. You go on the good list sora.i would probably be in it just for the melt downs as well though a nowi costume wouldnt be bad >> (at least for me anyway)
You know that scene from James Bond where he's tied to the table and there's a laser about to cut through him? That's probably what's happening to him right now deep in the depths of Nintendo HQ.So is it true the leaker was caught¿ I saw some people tweeting about it but can't seem to find any info in the thread.
I understand that you guys think KI deserves less than metroid/DK, etc...
but as neorice has pointed out before, this is sakurai working on 3DS for the second time, so it's entirely possible that the KI:U assets were simply COPY-PASTED over into smash 4 (with necessary modifications, of course), since they were literally on the same system. This explains, at least, all of the smash run enemies, the likely vast amount of trophies, as well as items. If KI:U were on original DS, for example, I don't think we'd see as much, as far as smash run/items/trophies are concerned.
It's simply very probable that they had a ton of assets they could use... so they did.
ESRB should have gotten footage for duck hunt dog too
Well [post=127040606]this[/post] was posted earlier in the thread.
Yea, and didn't Sakurai specifically say Kid Icarus Uprising was a one time thing? So yea 3 reps is pretty weird. Dark Pit should've stayed as an assist trophy.
I mean, that last one would be a really good choice...The worse part about Kid Icarus reps is the lack of Metroid reps.

Metroid Prime's core form could actually work pretty well. The worse part about Kid Icarus reps is the lack of Metroid reps.
