This would be a pretty damn incredible roster. Add in the previously cut characters through DLC, (Marshall & Chrom too), and it's pretty much more than we could ever ask for.

It's a great series that deserves a rep. A since we've already got RH enemies in Smash Run, I think it's happening.

I am with my DK and Metroid brothers and sisters, reeling from the absence of any newcomers for either series. At this point (if they are indeed not getting any), we can only hope that Sakurai continues work on DLC. Imagine if by the end of its life cycle, we got:

anyway this really sucks since thats what made ice climbers so unique in the first place.
Hm, can luma get hit? Like, does she have her own hidden percentage like nana has/had?
If not, that makes luma way easier to code (in my head) and handle, whereas ice climbers adds a cpu who has her own percentage, pathing, delayed inputs, and can pick up items and attack much more indepentantly of popo than luma is of rosalina (i think their attacks ae 1:1 commands?)
And i think luma has to be "placed" vs nana needing to constantly path herself back go popo while receiving player input at once.

Also I feel for you hardcore Metroid and DK fans, as delighted as I am to have 3 KI reps, I do see how those series have been robbed. At least Dixie should be in this game. At least RIDLEY should be playable :/

Honestly if Ice Climbers are cut completely OR are reduced to Ice Climber then nobody can deny the 3DS version was the cause and lead to the WiiU version being gimped by it being made.
Also for fun let's speculate how the moves for a single Ice Climber would be buffed
B: Could simply turn into a double shot, would be the closest to what they original had and probably wouldn't be much hard to slightly change the animation to include. Could also make it bigger or faster so that it could be used almost as a projectile shield to block/deflect projectiles and close in
>B: Probably stays the same, probably just does damage/range like it did in Melee and Brawl like when you had both Ice Climbers
^B: Jumping and grabbing the condor was a big part of the classic Ice Climbers game, and I could totally see his new recovery being what is implied in the leak. Ice Climbers jumps up like he used to and you grab onto the bird for a bit of added vertical recovery, before it lets you go and you fall prone. Potentially it could also be a little game in itself where if you miss the condor you just fall.

Never mind the content of this text leak, we can't even confirm the identity of the guy who posted it. There's literally no reason at this point to believe anything written there. So y'all can stop hyperventilating over Ice Climber. For now, it's nothing more than a (tragic) possibility.

The game would have been made either way. The 3DS didn't save Smash, there was always going to be another installment this gen, even without Sakurai.
They aren't even equal. The Wii U version will be priced higher. How is it a decent move to anchor the pricier version just so owners of the discount title don't feel bad? Especially if the 3DS version forces changes on things that were standard in previous entries in the series.
Supposedly he processed the footage & sent it to the ESRB. A more detailed source said he still has the game, but I'm looking for that link right now. ALL RUMORS THOUGH. GET YOUR SALT GRAINS AT THE DOOR.

The idea that the Wii U version didn't exist until appreciably later than the 3DS version is pretty overblown. Sakurai said that he had the idea of a 3DS Smash first, and it was later seeing the Wii U that made him consider it for both, but this was all back when the games were just vague ideas in his head back when he was still making Kid Icarus Uprising. They both came into actual existence at the same time. To say one came before the other isn't being fair.
That all said, I am of the strong opinion that if one version needs to be pared down to achieve parity due to the weaknesses of the other, then parity should be dropped. They should not be slaves to each other. It's like gimping the Wii U version's graphics to match the 3DS's "to be fair."
If the Ice Climbers are dropped or cut in half due to the 3DS version, it deserves all the scorn it gets for it.

Yes. Luma also has its own set of unique attacks, whereas Popo and Nana use the same moves as each other.
