I really don't think it was the 3DS' limitations that led to the removal of transforming characters - amiibos, FP and custom moves probably played a larger part.

I don't either. I think it would have happened regardless of the 3DS or not. Trying to use that as ammo against the 3DS version just seems like a very nit-picky argument.

Probably not. Snake has always been a divisive character in smash.
Though I think the one's taking it hardest are people like me who have a connection to Smash because of Snake. I wouldn't have gotten into the series or hell even nintendo as much as I have without his inclusion to jump start things.
