You know I'd rather have some arbitrary ban on having multiple Ice Climbers on screen over the possibility of them being solo characters.

I can't decide if I feel the same way or not. I definitely would rather have them solo than cut.

I'm pretty sure they're all wrong. The only leaked info comes from the video, and the video obviously didn't have any more characters. And Izat True is just some random guy.

The reason we don't have pictures or footage of the rest of the roster (if there are any more characters to be seen, that is), is that all the leakers had access to was a preview video, and they weren't in that video. That's it. Stop looking into it and wait for the Japanese release or a new leak from someone with access to the game (which will become more likely as the release date approaches).

Even if Nintendo had to inform the ESRB about missing characters, there's nothing to lend credibility to the idea that the leakers would have access to that knowledge. So yeah. Don't believe anything until you have enough evidence, in the form of pics/videos.

But yeah, if Sakurai doesn't fit Chorus Kids or some other RH character into the roster by launch, I will totally be legitimately and enormously disappointed in him. We need a character from RH a lot sooner than we need another Mario rep, a retro rep, or a JRPG rep!

I thought the whole mewtwo/ridley/dixie kong thing to the ninka/vaanrose leak was added later and their original posts only had DHD/Bjr/Dpit/Shulk/DocMario which anyone who saw those leaked images/videos would mention.

Right. There's nothing else to the legit text leak that matters. Those characters are speculation on their part, and I think some are speculated by other people that posted the leak, from combining it with other leaks. The actual leak:

-Snake, Lucas, Ice Climbers (Why), and Wolf are cut
-Doctor Mario is back as a clone
-Dark Pit is a newcomer as a clone
-Each character gets 8 alternate costumes, whether they be pallet swaps or new costumes.
-Alph appears as 4 of Olimar's costumes, while the other 4 are Olimar's.
-Shulk will be playable with Gaur Plains as his stage, his neutral B changes his Monado mode which essentially makes him dish more damage and take more, or do less damage, and take less.
-Bowser Jr appears as a new comer and allegedly fights from a mario kart... has no alt colors, but instead has the 7 koopalings as alts.
-Duck Hunt is in... from what I've been told it's the duck hunt dog fighting with ducks on his back who assist for certain attacks...

-Bowser Jr rides in a koopa kart that attacks with cannon balls and boxing gloves and stuff that eject from the clowns mouth.

Yes it will be playable in Russia eventually I'm sure (CCCP joke), but it's looking bad for the CPP because it's not on the preorder packaging from Japan.

I'm guessing this leaker had access to the video and saw that Lucas, Snake, Wolf, and Ice Climbers weren't present in that build and assumed they were cut (not without good reason). But I think we are now privy to the information that the leaker had at the time they leaked, and with this information, I cannot say either way that those characters are definitely cut.

My bet is that Nintendo wanted a sort of "early" rating from the ESRB so they could have a general idea of what they needed to adjust for the desired rating while they continued to work on the game, rather than completing the game and sending it all in at once only to get an undesirable rating and have to go back and change a lot of things.

I am very confident that we will at least get Ice Climbers, Lucas, and Wolf back.

There are almost definitely more than 35 challenges. The leaked image shows the same set of challenges, and it shows the player completing a Stadium-based challenge, so we'll probably have sets of Challenges for each mode. It's also entirely possible that there could be a secret challenge mode, such as (Kid Icarus: Uprising spoilers)

The challenges in the 3DS version are a little on the easy side, but the Wii U version challenges might be a bit trickier.

Seriously, though, I hope the challenges are even half as good as Kirby Air Ride's. That game had a ton of them, with a good mix of easy, medium, and hard ones. At the very least, I hope this game has more than 35 challenges. I expect it will, given how trophies there are (i.e., it's not like Sakurai to skimp on little bonus things like this,) but the fact that there don't appear to be any more pages of challenges in this pic has me a little worried.

While I think it's pessimistic to expect so few challenges (ironic since I was being all doom-and-gloom about that earlier), Sakurai shouldn't need to sacrifice challenges of all things for either of those elements.

Never thought I'd hear you of all people say this. We've seen that it has all the side modes we've come to expect in Smash as well as a Classic mode that looks more complicated than ever. The only thing I can think of that appears lazy right now is the stage selection, but remember that that was just a leak of months-old version of the game, and may not represent the final product.

I was mainly addressing the claim of other characters being called by these leakers. Not really trying to say it means there are/aren't more characters, just that we can probably dismiss it if someone says they told us that Dixie, Chorus Men, Ridley, and Mewtwo would be in. In fact, they even mention Dixie and Chorus Men, in both cases speculating about those possibilities (so it would stand to reason that they aren't confident they know the final roster).

Though it does kinda bring into question why they know stuff we haven't seen pictures of. In particular the alternate costumes and things like that. If they saw the ESRB video, that means either our leakers forgot to take shots of some new info, or they have a different source. One of them claims to know an NoA employee, so it's possible the person they know had access to extra information.

It's mostly the god awful stage selection. There's like 60% greats and 40% losers there.

Mushroomy Kingdom? For real? We already have a brand new, updated scrolling Mario stage but nope, not enough so bring back the ugliest scroller stage from Brawl; which just happens to be yet another Mario stage!

Yeah that's what I was getting at as well. If the only leaker source is the ESRB video (which is really all I'm willing to believe right now), then I guess we know as much as most (if not all) of the leakers. I am pretty confident in Gematsu's RH character claim though, so I think there's a missing link out there somewhere.

Agreed. DK snub aside, the roster is starting to grow on me, but whoever decided to bring Mushroomy Kingdom back deserves to be fired.
