PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Maybe they will fix the bugged trophies for TxK now that it's a PS+ game? Not that anyone will get them but still.
I remember hearing that another game with bugged trophies got them sorted out when it became a PS+ game.

I doubt it. Towerfall Ascension has bugged trophies as well which still haven't been fixed.

I'm excited to start P4G. I'm never played a Persona game before. What do I need to know going in?

Try to fuse your personas once you notice them becoming rather weak rather than trying to level them up. Other than that just enjoy the ride!
And I agree with looking up a spoiler-free guide for getting the True Ending.

You bought Monster Monpiece before Tearaway & Persona 4: Golden. Think about that for a second

You can't be serious. That would be terrible :O

The best hint I can give you is: on your 1st playthrough use no guides! (Except for some simple ones about how to fuse some personas and stuff like this, if you feel the need).

I'd say have at least 3 different save slots too. You'll need them since there are different endings (Bad, Good, True) and each one has a bunch of hours of content (dungeons and all that) and you'll want to have a save data before the point of no-return.

Just jump in, set the game on 'easy' difficulty, and have fun :D. It was my first non-Mario/KH RPG and I LOVED it :D. I ended up beating it FOUR times in a row after beating my first run XD.

Come in the game with an open mind, re-visit each dungeon at least a second time after you beat them the first time (so that way you can level up your party faster; just bouncing from dungeon to dungeon without much leveling.....leads to issues X(), and don't worry about the S. Link and your choices; not only will you have the chance to change them with NG+ but you will also be able to have the freshest experience with the game for your first run :).

I recommend using a guide on your second run; that way you can max out the most S. Links and get the best endings.

Velocity 2X is cross buy with Vita right?

Also the comments in the PS Blog are why I hate humanity sometimes. Stellar month. Best month in a long time.

YES! for Velocity2X!
YES! for Sportsfriends (bummed that I bought the PS4 version and did not get the PS3 cross-buy.... yea it's only cross-buy if you buy the PS3 version) - can anyone confirm if we are getting PS3 version too?
YES! for PlayStation All-Stars Royale (now I can finally sell off the disc version)
YES! for the Joe Danger Vita (I'll finally finish the game)

- why are people complaining

The other thread on GAF is pretty bad too - apparently this is the WORST MONTH EVER for PS+ according to some. I wish these people would man up and cancel their subscriptions if they're so unhappy with it instead of shitting up the threads EVERY SINGLE MONTH because there's no boring grey/brown shoot bang games for free.

Oh, are the ones in TxK bugged? I was wondering why none were dropping for me...

play on very easy

the actual jrpg parts are awful, and the sooner you can finish them and get back to the good stuff the better

I would recommend to play on Normal.

Very easy just too damn easy.. Its good for a 2nd rushed playthrough, but definitely not the 1st one. On very easy your chars cant even die.

On Normal it will require some good ammount of strategy, and that is part of the game... And its completely doable. I would recommend the 1st playthrough on Normal without S.Link guides, the best way to enjoy P4G for the 1st time.

Which trophies are bugged? Probably the only ones I do not have :\

Saw the line up of PS+ games for Sepetember....really great list of games :D.

For PS4, we were right :D! Volicty X2 is the 'big' game for the month and considering how fun the original Volicty was, I have lots of hope this one will be even better :). This being cross-buy with Vita is a really amazing plus too :). Never heard of Sportsfriends but like Towerfall, should be fun for PS4 owner with extra controls and itching for some fun local multiplayer :).

PS3 is solid too. PSAS finally lands on Plus and I thought it was a great game, so glad to see it get a chance to get more exposure. Smart move by Sony too (considering Smash is coming to 3DS the month after it). The fact this is cross-buy is great for those who never got this and I'm glad I got a PS3 version again (traded my physical copies of this and Sly 4 PS3 when I got a Vita due to 'owning' them already). Never heard of that dragon game though, so I think it should be fun :l.

The Vita stuff is great too. Not only are we getting a Day-One release of the Vita version of Joe Danger (which sounds like a fun Trails-esc game) but we are also getting TxK :D. Heard really amazing things about this one, so can't wait to check it out next week :).

The "Beat the game on Pure" trophy is supposedly glitched, and people think the "Beat the game on Survival" also is. The others aren't glitched.

And a PSA for TxK players: The game only saves as of now when you get a Game Over, so keep that in mind. Wasted some time myself when I just closed the game.

The ones for 1000 and 20.000 rounds of versus mode.

Oh Really? Maybe I should startup my PS4 then.

http://www.playstationlifestyle.net...ion-ps4-patch-adds-9-new-variants-fixes-bugs/

features some other trophy difficulty reductions too, like the diamond times. It's a good patch, the one part of the game that left a bad taste in my mouth was the insane trophies. 20,000 matches even at a few seconds a match is a damn lot, and the diamond times are very hard to get.

I imagine many would if it wasn't now a requirement to play online. Whilst I have no problems with what games are offered, I can understand the frustration some long term subscribers may have regarding a perceived "drop of quality" and being unable to feel they can unsubscribe without losing online play on PS4.

Besides, everyone has the right to voice their opinion on the service, no matter how idiotic it may seem and generalising all the complainers as simply wanting "grey/brown shoot bang games" or making arrogant statements regarding taste is unconstructive. Complaining about shitting up threads shits up threads just as much.

Yes, I see the irony in my post.

Well, Monster Monpiece is pretty terrible so far. Generic characters, poor writing and a questionable translation. Hopefully the gameplay is better. I typically like Compile Heart's games, but eh.

I should have gotten P
layStation Vita Pets
instead.

Anyone having problems with PSN? Trying to buy demons haze and it is rejecting my card - even adding funds separately. Tried editing and re-entering the card details and still not accepting it. It was fine earlier today to buy plants vs zombies

Also what's peoples deal with this PS+ month? Amazing games, probably the best one yet. TxK alone is gold. Can't wait to check out Don't Starve on Vita. I hope Velocity X2 is crossbuy.

Completely ignore the story, the gameplay is all that matters. It's not like Neptunia. PSN in profile BTW if you want to play online, assuming I'm ever available to play online. I've beaten the story mode (just mopping up extra NPC battles now), haven't played online

It's been an ever-increasing meme to complain about PS+

Maybe - it's just frustrating because there's no discussion at all. And the perceived drop in quality is in the eyes of the individual - if they can confidently state "This is the worst month in PS+ history" then I should be able to reply in a similar vein.

These people obviously weren't around at the start on PS+ - dark days :(

Yeah, I was hoping for some Neptunia style writing. Hell, even Mugen Souls was pretty funny. I'll take your word on the gameplay being good though.

Written for laughs would have been much better. Some of the generic enemy lines are kinda funny in an "we know we're being lazy as hell" way, but the main story really isn't, it's just the most generic RPG story you could imagine, like what a 10 year old would write after playing FF4 or something. The story is just an excuse to gate card packs for purchase and give you lots of NPCs to battle, which it delivers in spades.

Try to make at least a couple decks BTW, and mix 'em up to see what you like. At some point you can make a deck that will beat basically all AIs, but it's more fun to mix it up and try new stuff

Interestingly enough, I don't think I've ever looked at the early titles of Plus when the service started. I debated picking up a subscription for a long time but I never actually did until the PS4 brought in the requirement for online play.

So with the atelier games on sale in eu, is any of them worth getting? Which is the best one? Why are they good?

I'm also tempted to get disgaea 3 on vita, is it much different from disgaea 2 ? (played that one till I got bored, for 100+ hours, so if its too much of the same I might get bored fast)

They were ROUGH man - like Calling All Cars with no online community levels of rough.

PS+ used to be pretty bad, and I like indie titles. Lots of PS Minis (a few of those are good, but they're extremely limited games), some PSX games, many of them poor/that don't hold up well. Critter Crunch was the highlight of PS+ for a decent while IIRC.

Disgaea 3 kills the dreadful weapon level system (D2 brings it back in an improved state however) and has one of the least painful methods of getting to the Land of Carnage. Better story IMO too, Adell was never my fav. Also no stupid Felony system, and improved ways to learn skills from other characters. I played the most of 3 out of all of them FWIW. Not sure what the Vita version adds over PS3, only played on PS3. Biggest negative of 3 was it still used PS2 res sprites, but that won't matter all that much on Vita.

Deception or Demon Gaze?

Don't own either but Demon Gaze is the one one with the most praise :). Dungeon Crawler with lots of content and what looks to be good story (I think :l).

Deception (I think?) is a game that largely is based on creating traps/weapons to ward off your foes in a dark-looking world. Granted, that is what I remember from what the PS2 games looked like (they were very violent and dark games I remember from reviews and the like).

I'm most likely wrong for both games XD, but they look interesting to say the least :).

bought Danganronpa, idk when I'm gonna get around to playing it though

PS Vita Backlog is like

Person 4 Golden
Dragon's Crown
FFX/X-2 HD
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Sly Collection
Disgaea 3
Gravity Rush

and a bunch of PSOne games idk where to start lol. I'm not gonna be playing my Vita for another week though since my brother is trying to beat FFX before I go back to school. I have a huge 3DS backlog too... :/

How does it stack up against Etrian? I have 3 and 4 from that series and they're pretty fun

Demon Gaze has a LOT of fanservice, so people who don't like that might steer clear. And by fanservice I mean semi-naked bodies of girls. The map system is easier than EO, too.

Nice. NISA gave me a $5.00 gift certificate. I think I'll cancel my Natural Doctrine preorder on Amazon and preorder from their site.
(or buy that Danganronpa shirt...)

Deception or Demon Gaze?

Tough choice. I have both and have played through both (at the end game of Demon Gaze now) and think it really comes down to what you are looking for. Like RK128 said about each game, Demon Gaze is an RPG dungeon crawler with item and skill management. Its story is fun but not really that deep. Deception on the other hand is a 3rd person trap combo arena game. Insanely fun thinking of different trap combos to use to dispose of the people who are trying to kill you as well as the people who end up wandering into your path. The story is pretty light but the replay value is much better in my opinion than Demon Gaze. There are 100 separate challenge missions separate from the main storyline and you can also upload your own and download other peoples challenges.

Etrian is the king, heck you get to draw the maps (I actually love the series for that feature alone, can't wait for Persona Q). But gameplay wise I'd say it is an amazing game, with a great story and characters to boot (fan service aside).

Thanks for all the advice everyone - this is what's turning me off on Demon Gaze though... I might just go for MGS HD (never played 3)

Isn't Amazon offering a $5 to $10 credit (depending on the version) for Natural Doctrine? What's the advantage in pre-ordering from NISA's site? (I'm genuinely curious because I haven't pre-ordered ND yet lol).

MGS3 has some fanservice too, but from what I've seen of Demon Gaze it hardly compares. So yeah, you should be good. I'd definitely recommend the HD Collection.
