Well, I have a good feeling that we are getting Smash Direct next week. We should find out by Friday but if not then I guess they are going to hold Direct until few days before release date.

Well, going off we know right now:

-Pretty much anything from Rare games (I know why this is, but it doesn't make it any less annoying)
-GBA-era is largely ignored outside of Assist Trophies (Golden Sun, Advanced Wars, etc)
-I'm a little salty that Dark Samus is an AT, but I guess it's better than nothing.
-Paper Mario in general
-Wolf is apparently getting cut, because I guess Star Fox just doesn't cut it

And on a completely different note, Ganondorf is still Falcondorf. Dumb.

But just so I'm not being a big stink about things, I was pretty excited to see Bowser Jr. in the game. Sunshine is one of my favs, and I love the addition of the clown car.

Yea man it kills me to know that Banjo-Kazooie will never be in Smash, would be my number 1 new comer for sure. And Paper Mario and Star Fox are still relevant so who knows they could have a bigger presence in the next Smash game.

The rest yea, those situations do kind of suck, but you you never know. We're still missing some characters from this roster they could still make it!

Nintendo reveals all tracks and characters in Mario Kart 8 and people bitch about it.
Nintendo decides to not reveal all stages and characters in Smash 3DS and people still bitch about it.

I really hope so. The sooner, the better. Someone is bound to get a copy that 'fell off the back of the truck' sooner or later, which will blow the lid off EVERYTHING. At least now, there are still a lot of unknowns. Sakurai can still be the one to reveal a lot of stuff.

There should have been a Direct two weeks ago to inform of us of 2-3 of the newcomers. Sakurai should have probably revealed a few more veterans by now as well. This still would have allowed them to leave 1-2 newcomers and a handful of veterans hidden.

Instead, they've been incredibly resistant to telling us anything.

Agreed. The fact that we're so close to launch, and yet the latest official newcomer reveal was well over a month ago is baffling to me.

Maybe because I don't have sound atm and because I closed the tab after 3 minutes I'm not getting something, but it seemed like a pointless video to me, I'm assuming it ends in a "See? Smash4 isn't slow because the attack duration is quick!" or something.
It actually concludes that Smash 4 is even slower than Brawl, although the data was fudged a bit because there were 13 ties-for-first in a dataset comparing 36 moves.

I really thought they would have made the announcement of the new Mario Kart DLC in a direct instead of just putting out a press release. Just because it's the perfect kind of bomb to drop in a direct that no one would have seen coming.

But Nintendo does what Nintendo wants.

Pretty sure they revealed the DLC because it was leaked, but I could be wrong.

From top of my head, Jedi Link, Immaculate, Wreck-It-Ralph, KHLover, Hatchtag and few that I can't remember right now.

You got me there since we know that we had a good evidence to prove that thread would be slow without one of us, me or you. When you got banned, the thread was utter slow. :P
Stay strong, SmashGAF

Right, the games that had multiple trailers over the year, daily information updates on weekdays, 11 newcomers revealed, 37 characters revealed in total, a direct dedicated to the games, but they have been incredibly resistant to telling us anything.

It is truly amazing how people take this for granted and are selfish as hell.

Isaac's the big one, Saki is sort of retro but he's an AT again, but Isa and Kachi fit the bill too

I guess the Advance Wars characters, Lyn if you're a fan of her

Eh, Saki was never big on my radar. I only played Sin & Punishment after Brawl. Fun game though. I will never understand, though, why we never got Hector or Lyn. I was under the impression that FE7 was big enough to justify a character, but I guess the timing was wrong. I do love Ike though.

I know better than to get my hopes up, but yeah, it would be nice.

I guess seeing everyone get so hype over some of the newcomers, I'm just waiting for my "OH MAN, YEAH, [Insert character here] GOT CONFIRMED!" this go round. Robin was close, but I wasn't the biggest fan of Awakening. Ike and Wolf did it for me in Brawl, and Ganondorf was my big unlock in Melee. 64 was just 64.

I never thought the speed in Brawl was a issue.
Than I played other M. It's like being in the slow lane.

Alright, I want to to say something regard with Our Prediction Contest. Depend on the situation around with 3DS version, If it went as I expected then we might postpone the winner announcement until Wii U release date in case if they decided to hold back the characters or so.

I think they want to save few characters so they can hyping up people for Wii U.

In the US, in Japan the GBA trilogy is not as well received as it is over here from what I understand

I still like the idea of new characters for the WiiU release that will be DLC on 3DS.
Then after that everyone gets DLC at the same time.

That does make more sense. I just assumed that Nintendo would have just taken down their page they uploaded early and try to contain the leak, until the Nintendo Direct. I do prefer what they actually did though, clearing up all the confusion and questions ASAP.

Today I realized something...

Bowser's re-design. Most people thought it was simply to better fit with Smash 4's artstyle, or because there was gonna be a bigger character coming so they shrunk Bowser a bit (Ridley fans lol).

Now I realize it was probably because of Bowser Jr. Unlike Bowser, Jr. just wouldn't look right done in a realistic style, and it'd be a bit weird if you had realistic Bowser and cartoony Bowser Jr. in the same game. So I guess they decided to make Bowser a bit more toony so he'd look more in-line with his son.

This is actually pretty smart thinking.
Another reason why Bowser Jr's addition is great then.

We'll jump have another Smash trailer livestream on Friday morning.

Hopefully.
I hope they delayed the direct to make a new trailer and another Lucina/Robin situation happens. We're all expecting a leaked character introduction and then bam complete new comer shown off along with a "cut" veteran confirmed returning.

I can just imagine the chaos now.

I'm totally aware this will never happen but it's fun to dream sometimes.

Which is all pointless in a way in that Smash 4 was made under the addition thought that character all have customization moves so such a comparison isn't helpful at all.

i.e. Who cares if Mario's fireball is slightly slower if he can change it to a rapid fire or slow but powerful one as well?

Perhaps I should have been more specific. They've been resistant to revealing more information given how close we are to the game's release date.

As mentioned, even if we assumed that the leaked roster list is final, that's ~12 characters, 4 of which are newcomers, that Nintendo hadn't mentioned - and apparently anticipated that such information would remain hidden until the game was just days away from release. That's fairly naive.

Leaks occur and garner attention because people are desperate for information. Nintendo could have had it both ways - they could have given us a Direct a few weeks ago to properly reveal a few of the newcomers, and Sakurai could have been updating us on a few returning veterans - and they still could have left numerous characters hidden.

Just a quick question, if we were to get 1 extra character for the 3 third party companies in the game (Sega, Capcom, & Bandai Namco), who would you want for each?

PR doesn't indicate an announcement was planned.

I've written PR statements within half an hour of something happening.

If you guys are talking about the MK8 dlc, it was getting announced anyway, because it's integrated into the update that came out today. That doesn't happen overnight. The MK8 dlc was not announced because it leaked, it was a coincidence.

My Japanese 3DS XL came in today. I can't find a language option, unfortunately. Someone can have the Club Nintendo code if my American account doesn't accept it.

I would, with a very heavy heart indeed, trade Rosalina, Palutena, Lucina, Dark Pit and Miis for Ridley alone.

It would be a truly hard sacrifice to make, but sometimes these things just have to happen.
I hate you. All these are my favorite characters. ;(
