They'll need the trio of a good cartoon, merchandising and games to make it really popular.
The problem with Digimon is probably because it seems like they're reinventing it every series and there's very little consistency.
BanchoLeomon is best Leomon free.
I liked that about Digimon. I had no problem transitioning from 02 to tamers to frontier as a kid. Keeps it fresh and entertaining.
I want to post more, but I think I posted so much already in this thread lol. I love this universe so much.
Anywho, Gaomon has the better perfect/ultimate evolutions, but I like Garurumon a heck of a lot more than Gaogamon.
Also no love for Wolfmon's line? AncientGarurumon is my favorite "wolf"-digimon:

Ancient Garurumon is cool, but the Gabumon and Gaomon lines are just the best. MachGaogamon is just too cool and MirageGaogamon OH BOY. MetalGarurumon is the best wolf though I have to agree with PaperSparrow.
ZeedGarurumon is cool as hell too though, points for a giant cannon on his back.

yes MetalGarurumon X is cool as shit, but WereGarurumon doesn't compare to MetalGaruru sorry. I think a quadruped MetalGarurumon X would be cooler than a biped X too :/

Ok so I forget who said this was good, but I just watched Our War Game in subs and I was really underwhelmed. I actually prefer the dub of Our War Game, the voice acting is really on point and funny enough I prefer the soundtrack better. The subbed version is just too silent in some places, and the dub really gets you pumping with some of that music, I think it's just a better experience dubbed. No hate though.
EDIT: OK, so MagnaGarurumon is really cool too I forgot about him...God all these Wolf Digimon are so cool. I really can't pick a favorite despite what I said about MetalGarurumon :x

Our War Game is the only part I find just as good in English. Bolero makes the first movie and the dub of the third (can't recall the name at the moment) is butchered to hell and back.

I think Our War Game stayed mostly intact. Hurricane Touchdown (the third) is the one that is almost completely changed.
No surprise as Hurricane Touchdown was feature length.

IDK the soundtrack for the Dub just fit better IMO. How was it altered?
Also how was Hurricane Touchdown changed? Is the original better? I haven't seen it.
I just watched X Evolution, it was pretty cool. WarGreymon X, MetalGarurumon X and Dukemon X are all boss as hell in that movie. Alphamon and Omegamon (X) were awesome too.
Aside from that I just watched the first episode of 02 subbed. That Fladramon Evo was hype as hell, Break Up! is such a great successor to Brave Heart

No, from what I remember, Diaboromon stays the same too. (Disney owned Digimon at this point)
In the Digimon Movie, Wallace (Willis?) is relevant throughout the whole thing and Cocomon's disappearance is linked to Diaboromon somehow. Scenes are shortened, pretty notably when Davis is crying, the original Digidestined are completely cut from the plot, etc. The tone, which fit Our War Game, clashes badly with Hurricane Touchdown. (The ending on Smash Mouth was so weird even as a kid).
I can't say I really liked Hurricane Touchdown all that much, but it had cool battles and introduced Terriormon. Also, beautiful Wallace Engrish.

All other digimon series can run on the same continuum. That cross over episode of I think it was savers that had a bunch of characters from all the digimon series was cool visually but it was just ridiculous. There needs to be a small core group of chosen children, not a country full. It takes away all their uniqueness if there are so many chosen to save File Island.

It's Willis. Yeah in the Dub Willis is relevant, but how is the sub different is what I was asking, I've seen it all dubbed. The only difference is that in the original Japanese it's linger and is unrelated to Our War Game? Overall I think Hurricane Touchdown is decent, it has some good moments but the other movies are better.

The main difference is the tone, which is much more subdued and sad. The scene where Davis is crying exemplifies this. In the original, it is a serious reflection on Daisuke's part, where he considers what it would be like to lose V-mon. It lasts for a while and is a turning point in Daisuke and Wallace's relationship. In the dub, he cries about two seconds and it is played for laughs.
The original Digidestined disappearing is a main plot point (Takeru and Hikari were in New York with Mimi, she's not mentioned in the dub) and the ending changes from "hopeful" to "yaaaay, we did it!".
Like I said, I don't like Hurricane Touchdown much, but the dub does it a complete disservice. It needed to be melancholy.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think it happens after they beat the Digimon Emperor but before the next arc starts? I know Ken isn't in their team in the movie.

Counting movies is there any series that some form of Diaboromon doesn't appear in? I know there is in the first 3 and Savers. Can't remember if he does in Frontier as I haven't watched the first half of it in about 5 years and I've barely watched any of Xros Wars.
Playing through the games and stuff, Chaosmon always stuck out as odd (or should be absurdly powerful).
Sort of like Omnimon, but much different.
Basically, the way its info goes, it's effectively an incomplete DNA evolution. Instead of completely fusing, the two DigiCores still remain intact.
It basically shouldn't exist for all intents and purposes and yet it does.
In that particular picture, it's BantyoLeomon + Darkdramon, but there's also variants like BantyoLeomon + Valdurmon.
Then somehow, someway, you get this guy, UltimateChaosmon:
Which is basically a 4-way fusion of BantyoLeomon + Darkdramon + Valdurmon + Sleipmon (and something resembling a JRPG Final Boss).
Basically, it's absurdly powerful and crazy unstable to a point to where lesser Digimon are just obliterated just by being near it.
Oddly enough, this mon hasn't really shown in much.
(And in case you can't tell, its body is right below its "eyes' which are giant DigiCores.)

I wonder if they will go to "old" digimon like Chaosmon for the villain or make up a new one instead.
I could see Chaosmon working since it is basically anti-Omegamon.

I don't think it is. Things like Hikari and Takeru warp digivolving and Cocomon being reborn in the real world sort of don't follow the rules.

yeah I don't think Hurricane Touchdown is canon. The Adventure Movie and Our War Game seem to be canon though. Diaboromon Strikes Back probably is as well.

Also I thought I read that Kamiya was a mistranslation of Yagami somewhere. Forget where I read that but it is the only real name change. Since Tai, Matt, TK and Kari were just shortened from their original name while Izzy... I guess is a technical name change based on his second name instead of his first name. And The rest of their second names are more or less intact.
Plus Kamiya still sounds Japanese so the only reasoning I can think of for it is a mistranslation but I don't know...

Nope. Ultimate evolution seem impossible in the Adventure series. Wargreymon and MetalGarurumon were pretty much a miracle summon.
The funny thing is that I love Guilmon but the champion form I had problems with. Mainly the white hair which looked weird. The rest of the line looks great.

It was pretty bad during xros wars with shoutmon's evos. But every now and then they still make a handful of nicely designed digimon.
Metalgreymon was one of those designs that blew me away as a kid. It made sense to me, that its an older Greymon that upgraded himself through battle to become at perfect level.
