Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

I truly, truly hope that one of the new characters (whether it be a newcomer or confirmed vet), is someone that's not part of the leak.

Do it Ninty. DO IT.

Yeah, a new 3DS Direct announced, but only for Japan so far. Usually they're announced for all regions simultaneously, or at least almost simultaneously. Hmm...

Maybe there won't be anything Smash-related in it and it's focused on more niche/Japan-only games? That'd be a shame.

If there is a version for the west it will be announced within the next few hours probably.

Remember, Directs are often announced by Nintendo rather than Sakurai. He often just repeats the information the next day.

Obviously keep expectations in check and don't listen to Nintendo of Americo, but just because Sakurai doesn't mention a Direct doesn't mean one isn't coming.

I'm aware with how they announced them. When did they announced Smash Direct? I know they did during my bed schedule.

Do the newcomers even need to be announced before release? What about keeping them a secret as unlockables?

There is at least one more character reveal video.

I would also bet Shulk and Ness... but I bet Shulk + Falcon/Falco when Robin was going to be announced, so now I don't think they put characters together because of theme or anything...

Shulk and Wario!!

We would know if Direct is coming by 10am or later.

Edited: saw the thread. The schedule seem to be not friendly for NA so I don't think it's international direct.

Maybe it has a new character trailer but the direct is japan only because it's focusing on the japanese launch?... I want to believe

Well to be fair the Pokken Fighter stream wasn't for the US but at the end the US branch of Nintendo still announced it. So could be the same case here.

There's always going be part of the world that the Direct is not friendly towards. Pushing it later in the US pushes it later in Japan. Making it suitable for Japan and the US often makes it bad for Europe (see the recent Hyrule Warriors Direct).

Morning, Midday, Night from west to east seems to be the fairest compromise. At worse they can always delay the American broadcast like NoE did with HW.

Wait, there's a direct tomorrow now?! Wasn't it fake?
I just woke up, and I have no idea what's going on atm

A fake account announced one a few days ago but it turns out there's a 3DS direct actually happening tomorrow. It's only been announced for Japan so far though.

Yep, announced only for Japan so far but there's nothing to fear.
3DS Direct.
3DS Direct. There's a Smash game coming to 3DS. You guys think we'll see anything?

I'm gonna guess we will if it turns out worldwide. If not, we'll just see updates on some third party stuff, and maybe a minor announcement or two.
Do I seriously need to wake up at 7am on my day off to watch a video I can't even understand on the off chance a New Comer trailer is shown?
You don't need to. If that timing is restrictive, just watch the archive on Nintendo's site as soon as you wake up. And be glad you're not on the west coast. Lol west coast.

This one is Japon instead of Americo.

Damn, so early for the east coast. But I'll actually wake up to see this tho
plus I'll get ready to go to class at the same time
It's actually really good timing for me. That's when I get up to get ready anyway. I usually then sleep from 7:07-7:30... but for this I'll get ready early and then just watch
and be disappointed by
the Direct.

Well, it's still not even 9AM on the East Coast, so NoA is a while away from announcing it, if it is coming.

Also, would uploading a trailer to the US/EU pages after/simultaneous with broadcasting in the JP Direct be any different to what happened with the Robin trailer? I guess no prior announcement would be kind of awkward.

Well how will you be disappointed by a smash direct?

Hmm? This is a 3DS Direct. And as of now, possibly Japan only. If it doesn't go full worldwide international, it will almost definitely disappoint me here in non-Japan.

But I've very much hoping for a new Smash trailer. :3

It would also be weird not to just have a Direct in the other territories.

Even if they don't have any news beyond a Smash trailer, I'm sure there are a bunch of games they'd like to promote.

Oh it's a 3DS Direct. My bad. Hell yeah, I'm all in for a smash trailer!

But hey guys, we got many announcements made in the west for the people.in Jpn later found out, we got PacMan and more ate e3 so its only fair that prior 2 weeks of the game release in Jpn they get a character reveal before us

Smash Directs would come out quicker if NoA didn't insist on dubbing them all the time.

NoE is perfectly happy to use subtitles.

Hey I'm kind of new to the Smash Bros scene. I've been playing the series since the N64 days but didn't really get into it until I started watching competitive players during Evo 2013. I know Brawl was a step back compared to Melee but how is Smash 4 shaping up on the competitive front? Are wavedashing, L-canceling, etc in?
