But hey guys, we got many announcements made in the west for the people.in Jpn later found out, we got PacMan and more ate e3 so its only fair that prior 2 weeks of the game release in Jpn they get a character reveal before us
We didn't really get it before them. People in Japan can watch and follow e3 news just the same. It'll be at annoying times probably, is all.
With the Japan only Nintendo Directs, it tends to be information only relevant to Japan, rather than new info on big games like Smash. Usually local third party games and stuff.
Hey I'm kind of new to the Smash Bros scene. I've been playing the series since the N64 days but didn't really get into it until I started watching competitive players during Evo 2013. I know Brawl was a step back compared to Melee but how is Smash 4 shaping up on the competitive front? Are wavedashing, L-canceling, etc in?
None of that back. You can't cancel hitstun with air dodge like in Brawl, and the game seems to have some more small combos. Shields seem even better as far as the speed of dropping them, spot dodging, etc. The edge game is changed up so that edge hogging is practically not a thing now, and Brawl's ledge snap is back. On the plus side, edge invincibility doesn't keep refreshing, so no planking. I think Brawl's harsher move staling is back too.
Basically it looks a little better than Brawl, but go ahead and stop hoping for a sequel to Melee.
But it's really hard to say with any actual certainty. The game isn't out yet, and people haven't really learned it in and out. Check out the Comic-Con tournament to see more or less how it goes. The E3 invitational finals are good too, and probably truer to how the game will end up; lots of camping. But that's Zero and Hungrybox, so I don't know what else we would expect.

Hopes for this game are high, and we'll be seeing a lot of it at tournaments and Smash fests in the upcoming years. Everyone should at least give it a chance.
