If this is All-Star Mode, then it looks like there's no playable Ridley, as he made his debut on the same year as Samus.

I'm assuming Reyn is an assist trophy which is why he's not part of the final smash.

Riki appears to be a taunt for Shulk and he's the mascot character so his inclusion makes sense

That leaves you with dunban, melia, and 7 as options (lol they were never gonna pick sharla cause medic)

7 is a massive spoiler so they're out, so it came down to Dunban or Melia, if I had to guess Dunban is either more popular in Japan or (as you said) shares a va with a character in the game already
