I've been curious about this game for a while. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the Wii version if and when it comes to the US, but trying to determine the superior version from the little bit of video we have now seems pointless.

I'd keep playing the Wii version. There's no localization for this version in sight, and to be honest as a consumer I would much rather have a localization of DQ7's remake than a downgraded version of a Wii game anyway.

If this isn't about Xenoblade, why are you posting in this topic about Xenoblade.

I understand the issue, but I don't understand the over-dramatic response. You have the power to voice your opinion by not buying the game/hardware. Everyone will make their own cost analysis regarding how much they want to play any exclusive content.



I believe most newer games will be new 3DS exclusive. So if you want to play them, buy the system. If this maligns your consumerist ideology, then don't. You can't act like you've been deprived something. You shouldn't act so entitled.

I think people who have issue with this 'split' need to realize this is a VERY common and ACCEPTED trend in the tech world (but in much faster cycles), what with new iPads out every year and the old ones not being able to run new apps after a certain amount of time (usually 2 years or so).

The first 3DS came out in 2010. That's 4-5 years, or a lifetime in tech years. I imagine most people who have launch hardware may be pining for an upgrade anyway (I have a launch XL....and the battery is starting to crumble and it's got scuffs and stuff. I'll just wait for this new one)

The new 3DS can't be that much stronger then a regular 3ds. It's not being pushed as a successor, just a better model. What was 5% thrown out as an estimate. Gee, that's such a big difference. It's XL dosen't even fix the resolution problem. This hardly sounds like a big gap. I don't buy that they couldn't get it to run on 3ds. It all sounds like a cop out. Made to just make the new 3ds more attractive.

I'm personally expecting it to be around 50-100% akin to DS to DSi (66mhz Arm9 to 133mhz Arm9). That's 'small' for generational improvements, but still a very significant upgrade.

Also I've bought every version of DS and 3DS and time almost always seemed perfect to me since I always enjoyed the piece of hardware enough to justify the difference I'll have to put between resell of the old version and buying the new one.

Yeah, I honestly have my doubts, even with the CPU bump on the New 3DS. I do imagine that it's going to struggle with the bigger battles, where there's all sorts of effects happening, and I imagine that pop-up is going to be more aggressive, too. They could definitely iron that stuff out, but I'd rather be practical about this port's chances of being on point with the Wii version from a performance standpoint.

700~mhz PPC processor versus a 200~mhz ARM dual core... If the bump I'm expecting is right, that'll push the new 3DS to 300-400mhz dual core.

"Why are you expecting such a big bump?" Besides precedence with the DSi, processors work on multipliers, and for compatibility reasons it's much easier/safer/compatible/etc to work on whole numbers (especially if your original chip was never designed to run at anything other than it's base clock).

Really? It's one of the best games on the platform, and one of the ones that had zero reliance on motion control. Seems about as well suited to a port job as any 3DS game there is.

Well it didn't do well in Japan and I assumed it was one of the most demanding wii games.

Exactly. If there was EVER a game to play on a big screen, it's Xenoblade. It's so beautiful, and letting the vistas 'breathe' on your screen is essential to enjoying it. Playing it with 3DS visuals would be a crime.

Acceptable for replays, but not as your introduction to the game. Bring on Xenoblade Remaster in HD, please.
