Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

Guys I'm starting to think the leak is real.

nope, still fake.

If they haven't talked about it now, then it's safe to assume that it's not going to happen.

To be fair, it seems to me the sort of thing that would take more time to implement than they have it they only heard feedback about it around the Smash Direct. Now for DLC though......

So we still don't really know what use the item is?

It allows you to float in the air like Peach's float in the previous games.

Anyway, is the C-Stick on the new model that... really tiny looking button? If so, doesn't really seem like it's worth getting. I mean, I am in the market for a new 3DS just because my OG one is well... becoming more and more inefficient but I dunno about the New 3DS lol.

Also, looks like (based on the stages shown in the overview video) we are indeed stuck with a terrible stage list for the 3DS version. Disappointing.

I really wonder why today's Direct wasn't international. It was packed with the kind of content we would normally get from a worldwide broadcast...

But we got a Smash trailer, so I actually don't even care. Today was good.

It's pretty much because of the New 3DS, which will be releasing in Japan in two months, but at least 6 months away for other territories.

Not having the new 3DS ready for holiday in the west is kind of ridiculous, but whatever. I know Xenoblade wouldn't be ready but you could at least let people start getting their hands on them.

Dunno about NOE, but NOA was likely busy with PAX, so they didn't have time to localize. Not to mention, the direct was mostly japan-only stuff for THIS calendar year (MH4U, new 3DS, etc are coming out NEXT year in the US).

The only thing internationally releasing this year is smash.
Nintendo Directs are prerecorded though. I have no doubt they've been preparing for PAX too, but I get the feeling they could have gotten it done...
Product launches are always tailored to specific regions. NoA and NoE will probably have different offerings for "new" 3DS, including name and faceplates, that haven't been finalized yet, in addition to having totally different launch windows.
A new piece of hardware seems worth a worldwide show on its own, even if not launching this year. A Smash trailer makes it even more worth showing every where. The rest could have easily been filler about some upcoming games or whatever.

You'll get to play Xenoblade on that 3DS =P

Also certain assist trophies can be attacked now? Was this in Brawl don't think I tried attacking most of them when I was playing.
Ghirahim

Ghirahim appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He moves like an acrobat and will attack with both sword and knife. Attacks against him will not fell him, and he can even teleport back into action should he get launched off the stage.

Phosphora

Phosphora first appeared in Kid Icarus: Uprising. This cool beauty will soar through the sky at high speed and shoot lightning bolts. Attacking her will make her flinch, but you cannot defeat her.
entry6-5.jpg

Mother Brain

Mother Brain from the Metroid series is an enormous Assist Trophy that fires vertically tracking laser rays. Fighters caught in the rays will rack up numerous hits and damage, so it's better not to be in front of her. By the way, it's possible to defeat Mother Brain by attacking her.

This is a Alt Costume?

I'm never going to use anything else.

The rigging on that costume's really wonky, though. Worse than both HFT and ZSS - the shoulders and hips especially just look really bad.

Maybe they should have bulked him up so he actually fit the skeleton.

If i recall, the 3DS LL was shown off in a japan-only 3DS, and then announced in US via press release, etc. Not announced in a US direct.

All of these directs were clearly photoshopped. That's not even Iwata in the japanese one, it's a rubber mask.

You guys are all idiots, I knew it was a fake immediately.

Iwata died in hospital but it was covered up, the Iwata you see in directs is just a photo of little mac angled differently and painted over to look like Iwata, I don't know how noone else can see this when it' so obvious!

I already posted about Shulk/thinking the guy at the end was Ridley/Robotnik in the other thread, so let me get straight to the point: US Club Nintendo's finally giving us a game's OST after we've missed so many that others could use their coins on (As opposed to our "nothing, really" at the moment)?

If only a GIF could convey the heroic fanfare playing over that clip.

Since they've gone so far as to give those ATs a decent moveset and damage reactions, I hope they can be fought as bosses in Smash Run or some other mode.

I can give them a pass. Since I won't be taking pictures in the pause screen and he doesn't have a orc force like someone else in smash.

-------------------------

While I say it was odd that the direct wasn't for all of us. Considering they gave us all the information still they did exactly what I thought they would. It's really the New 3DS fault that wasn't a worldwide. Since my only guess is that not coming out until 2015 didn't make nintendo want to hurt their holiday sales? Even though everyone will know about it regardless. Yeah all in all was a weird choice. But I HIGHLY doubt they were so salty on the leak being the reason.

Just cancelled my pre-order on the Smash Bros 3DS console, though it pained me to do so.
Maybe there'll be a smash clip on cover for the new models when they come out over here.

Iwata didn't even die in that hospital, this whole thing goes an entire layer deeper. Iwata was never sick, they shot him into space so he can help terraform Mars. He's living on a space station with Hitler, Walt Disney, and Elvis. Iwata's double was the one in the hospital. It was all just for appearances, except when he was assassinated in his hopsital bed they had to add on additional lies to cover this whole thing up.

His medical records aren't available, I dare you to look them up. His cause of death has no official documentation to back it up, and if you look at his death certificate it's just a picture of Little Mac turned on his side. It's right there in the pixels, everything you need to know.

Iwata's double was assassinated, some think by Miyamoto himself, to prevent any further questions. Some say Miyamoto's fear was that Iwata's double wouldn't be able to maintain an accurate public appearance, and people would find him out. Those people are the ones running the Smash website behind the scenes. They filmed the fake Directs, they made these Smash rosters line up perfectly so we could see the truth.

What do you guys predict...

Will only ONE of shulk's buffs be worth using, or will the upsides/downsides to each one make it worth cycling depending on the situation? I really hope he's balanced enough that a skilled player will benefit from using ALL of his buffs, and not just stick to the 'best' buff.

I can see speed/damage being used at the start of the fight, depending on who you're facing. I can see shield being useful vs final smashes or certain characters. I then see the KO one being used if you have low percent and your opponent has high percent (or if you know it's a sure-fired kill). I see jump being used when you're at a mid-high percent and need the extra recovery help.

It'll be really interesting to see if people can fully utilize them all.

That's so much money for figures I may not even use! 150 bucks for series one is a lot.

I can afford it, but my girlfriend would kill me. Sigh. We'll see. I think i'll pick and choose for now (based on my favorite nintendo series), and then once the game is out and I know my mains, i'll buy their amiibos, too.

And then, if they're not impossible to get, i'll round out my collection over time.

So... when brawl had a 5 minute feature trailer... Ness and Lucario were leaked.

Start combing the trailer, guys!
Normally my wife would kill me but I've been saving and sold some action figures since February that allowed me to save up for these.

Shulk looks awesome. Super glad to see him confirmed and seem him recorded on something other than the potato the video leaks were apparently filmed on. The Xenoblade stage looks great, too.

Now I hope we get Elma from XCX in the next Smash.

I'm really seeing him work both ways actual. A normal sort of player will be able to get by with just using one art a lot of the time and such. Much like how someone if they wanted to can just play snake with grenades and his melee. However anyone who's using all of the arts is going to be a force to be reckoned with once they got it all down.

Glad that Riki got in somehow, adorable!

And speaking of alts now that Shulk gets a swimsuit, swimsuit alt for everyone pls!
would pay for DLC if that was the only way to get Lucina in a swimsuit

His adaptability has the potential to make him one of the best characters in the game so I'm hoping his default moves are mostly terrible to make you focus more on switching modes.

I just thought something. Smash is having a huge marketing campaign right now, however it's mostly for the 3DS, as that is launching first. How are they going to keep the hype high for the Wii U version? Probably by continuing with the PotD and then... what? All the game content will be already spoiled from September onwards.

Seeing what they're doing with Mario Kart, I can't shake the feeling they're going to send out some free updates and free DLC. So what I think is that the leaked roster could be the final one, but 5 more characters could be revealed after the 3DS version comes out, included in the Wii U version and given as free DLC to 3DS users.

Buster will definitely be the most used throughout the match for combo purposes, and Shield or Speed for when you're close to death percentage.

Yeah, I really really like his buff system. I hope it's implemented well enough that he basically becomes one of the best competitive characters. I can easily see him replacing marth because of it. Easy to use, difficult to master kinda thing.

If you can change while midair (i think you can?), then jump will be really good for recovery. really really good.

Well since there will only be 1 Ice Climber, when Popo is chosen, Lucina's swimsuit gets replaced with a snowsuit

Yeah this is what a lot of us are thinking.
I know i'm betting that there's going to be more than just exclusive modes. They know Smash is their money maker this holiday. Plus being a fighting game the characters are what's going to bring in the hype over anything else.
