So Nintendo just killed their sales for the next year?

hahahahahaha

Perfect timing. My 2011 Cosmo Black battery is showing signs of age and I always found the XL too big.

Is it really using eye-tracking to make the sweet spot follow your eyes? I always thought that was a sci-fi solution to the problem... but again we have Samsung phones which detect gaze so maybe it works?

The New 3DS looks much closer to the DSLite design..I can't resist that shit. Throw in coloured buttons and I will get it. Damn you Nintendo, DS games better not look like ass on it :x. Though I'll still have my XL for that I guess. So glad the weird angular design of the original 3DS is gone. Most important question though: will the bezel still scratch the top screen? :lol

That goes away after a few minutes. I've always used the 3D at full blast; I can't imagine playing 3DS games in 2D, it's like playing Xbox 360 games in SD.

Yes, apart from the occasional eye-wonkery I get when I'm dead tired, 3D is always on. The difference is almost like playing your Wii in 480i vs 480p. Glad to hear they've improved upon it too.

Gotta sell old stock for the holidays, then In feb start the campaign making every person who bought a 3DS go "fuuuuuuuu"

I want it October 11 too :(

The "new 3D" could be related to the patent infrigement they lost recently and have to pay a royalty for every 3DS or 3DSXL sold.

Cool updates but I am more of a home console guy. I bought my kid a 3DSXL and I play it very little, it is great and all, but I am one of those who has very little time to play and would like to spend that on the big screen or at least the Wii U gamepad.

Happy that they finally introduced one (even though I won't be picking one of these up), but man I'm really not sure about that second stick. Interested in hearing impressions, maybe it'll be better than it looks.

Not sure how I feel about the revision in general. In terms of stuff like the screen and the power, the 3DS has felt like a relic from another time for a long time, and I was looking forward to a new system that at least tried to be a little competitive. The upgrades are cool, but I don't know that they'll do much to extend the life cycle of the system, at least not in meaningful ways. I guess it's cool to have some hints of things that'll probably be included in the next handheld.

Just saw this, wow! Comes out a day after my birthday but why couldn't they played the apple rule and released it worldwide and not just japan (again)?

Same here, I plan on picking up the New regular sized one, seems like a great mix of the XL and OG 3DS.

how about a new 3DS regular size for going out and 3D games (those I would like to play in 3D mode) and current 3DS XL for home usage?

but I have some games downloaded on the XL now >.>

That's my biggest problem, I have downloaded game on my XL so I will be moving them all to the New 3DS, however I plan to buy all my 3DS games physically whenever possible from here on out.

My first thought was 'Nintendo can port Gamecube games for handhelds now.'

I seem to remember one insider leak from a european site that stated 3DS having only one stick was acknowledged by even nintendo higher ups to be a glaring oversight and a mistake.

Took many years, but it is finally corrected. I guess.

So using that tiny nub, might make a game like kid icarus easier to play for lefties? Or is that even possible since nintendo rarely patches stuff.

KI:U already supports the Circle Pad Pro. The New 3DS just adds it's features as standard, plus some. Also, Nintendo patches games all the time nowadays. We just got a Mario Kart 8 patch that fixed a lot of small issues.

Anybody else think this might mean that we can utilize the SNES VC on the New 3DS? I mean... Look at the buttons!

Hopefully this and GBA VC. Nintendo has said that the 3DS's lack of power was why they didn't do SNES and GBA VC so maybe they can be exclusive to the New 3DS's?

I wonder, can someone make a image to be viewed on a 3DS XL to represent the size of the new regular 3DS? I know the resolution is the same, but you can make a image smaller on a black bg so that when viewed on the XL it's about the same size as the new 1.2x screen.

I want this new fuckin' 3DS since I've never owned a 3DS but I don't want to wait until 2015 to get it because Smash is coming in October, Sakurai, please delay Smash until 2015 and bundle it with the New 3DS and add the Ice Climbers back plz.

That's... Actually a pretty valid point. It never even crossed my mind. Probably gonna faze out the old 3ds and xl with these releases.

I still say I'm more salty that in 2015 Nintendo is gonna try and sell me new hardware for $150-$200 with a fucking PICA 200 GPU.

Shit is a decade old and they still trying to get me to pay that kind of cash. :|

Nintendo has been using outdated hardware for a long time now. The 3DS has a bad GPU, terrible screen resolution, WiFi chip that doesn't support Wireless-N or 5ghz, etc., yet I continue to buy it all. I'm surprised this one has NFC, though it'll probably have very limited functionality.

There were plenty of exclusive and enhanced games on DSi. Most for download, but some on Card. Why should this be different? Xenoblade is one of them.

I was just talking about Pokémon games. Outside of that, I really don't care if games are exclusive to the new 3DS or not.

To be clear, this in no way is anything like the DS revisions. Never did the DS add extra buttons, it did add a faster processor but there were no major game releases that required it.

With this "New" Nintendo 3DS and XL, we are seeing more controls and a faster processor that is making it a requirement for some pretty heavy hitting software so far. Xenoblade Chronicles is a pretty big game compared to some eShop download title.

I am really upset. I bought an OG 3DS and got screwed on price (Ambassador program was ok I guess), and then a 3DS XL which is now obsolete for these new titles. My Circle Pad Pro for my XL will not let it run Xenoblade, so people need to stop making that excuse. I am sure the added horsepower has something to do with it.

In the end, it is sad to see Nintendo go this route. They fucked up by not adding these controls that were necessary from the beginning, and the customer is supposed to pay to fix that blunder.

Fuck off Nintendo. The 3DS has been the shittiest you have been to your fans, with the price drop, awful launch library and games afterwards, and a 2014 that pales in comparison to 2013. I feel we are paying for Nintendo messing up.
