Quick update for ya'll: I didn't find this out until today, but my time slot at the event is 4-6pm. Tom is there right now, from 2-4, and Andre is there the whole time. I haven't heard anything from Andre about what's being shown right now, which tells me he's either busy recording footage/playing, under embargo, or both. I'll be going in about an hour, so stay tuned! Sorry I don't have more for you guys yet.

I gave up a second night of sleep in a row to record that discussion with Derrick, so I'm very happy you enjoyed it. ;) It was recorded from the lobby of my hotel!

Me and my siblings always get together to play Smash Bros. day 1 and we all choose the same character we chose the first time we played SSB64. I will use Link, my brothers will use Samus and Fox and my sister Kirby. That's the ritual lol.

Someone who gets their hands on Smash:

Tell me how it works/feels on a 2DS please.

I've been hearing that it's best on 2DS because better grip/no floppy top half/more space for hands despite the smaller screen.

Hey, does anybody know what that song is from Shulk's trailer, right as he's using his Final Smash and the Smash logo shows up at the end? I noticed it was also his victory theme in the leaked footage, just wondering where it's from in Xenoblade.

Honestly I'd definitely be playing multiplayer with my brother right away if we weren't both at two different colleges in different states this time. Makes things harder to coordinate (and I'm not sure my apartment internet will be fast enough for good online anyways). I have fond memories of getting Brawl at its midnight release and playing with my brother until we went to sleep (and then after waking up we played more lol)

Well since Sakurai dun fucked up and leaked Ganondorf after Ganondorf was leaked can we have a Ganondorf reveal Monday?

Pls. Or you can reveal him with Ridley and Mewtwo. Your choice.

Knowing our luck he will show us a menu screen with match rules.

Gonna run through Classic Mode with Mario first then try to unlock Wario with DK since he's apparently unlockable. :/

Captain was my main across every game until I moved onto Sonic. You can imagine how I felt when I first tried him in Brawl.

And Marth users have the nerve to complain >:(

No one will ever be neutered the way Cap was, no one.

He'll be revealed after launch, like every other time, to try to hide the shame that he's a captain falcon clone.

geez man, you seem awfully greedy for a game thats going to be going through an info spread next week or so.
 
Isn't it strange how in the Ganondorf image that, despite being a more up-to-date build, we're still seeing his back facing the screen when he's facing left? I thought we were supposed to see the front of the characters at all times or something -- unless there's some strange exceptions to this change?

Only certain characters always face forward. If the character holds a weapon or wears a cape they do not mirror.

Honestly, only a small amount of fighters have shown to mirror. They are the exception.

Asymmetrical characters seem to be the ones that don't always face the camera. Link doesn't, for example. Neither does little mac, because which arm he punches with actually matters (thanks to neorice for noticing).

I'd guess ganondorf is the same since he retains his ganon-punch.
