So I can play as them lvled up then? So basically if I buy an Amiibo with maxed lvled stats vs another person who doesn't have an Amiibo wouldn't that make the game unbalanced?

The level of an Amiboo (up to 50) is when you fight against it, it's like a better CPU.
Lucas? I wouldn't be happy with it, but sure.
Wolf? Absolutely not. I don't care about him as a character but in Smash Bros. he plays totally different from Fox. If anyone should be reduced to an alt, it's Falco (within the context of their Smash Bros. incarnations, anyway).

Hello /v/, today I am going to read you a story. This one is called "Ridley's Big Day."
Once upon a time, there was a big, strong boy by the name of Ridley. He lived on a faraway planet called Zebes, where he spent all day playing with his good friends, the Space Pirates and the Metroids. Ridley, the Space Pirates and the Metroids all went on many adventures together. They were the best of friends.
Ridley also had another friend. He did not know his name, and he only came to visit on rare occasions. But when this special friend arrived, Ridley always had great fun. Ridley and his special friend would play all day until it was time for Ridley to go to bed. And every day after, Ridley's friend would disappear.
But one day, Ridley woke up much earlier than usual. To his surprise, his special friend was still there! Ridley was very happy; he had never seen his friend stay for two days. When Ridley approached his special friend, he was climbing into a strange vessel. Before Ridley could let his friend know he was there, he flew right off the planet Zebes!
For the first time, Ridley knew where his mysterious friend went whenever he disappeared. Or rather, he knew how he disappeared. This was a very exciting thing for Ridley to learn! Many of Ridley's friends, such as the Space Pirates and the Metroids, would be afraid to leave the planet Zebes. But Ridley was a very strong and brave boy, so he followed his special friend all through space.
Unfortunately, Ridley's peculiar friend made many peculiar turns. Ridley followed his friend less closely the further he went, and eventually his friend was a little dot in the far distance. Ridley soon arrived on a new planet. It was a strange world, full of strange creatures he had never seen before. But his friend his faraway, mysterious, peculiar friend had arrived here.
Ridley was very nervous! Though he was brave enough to follow his friend, he had no idea he would land in such an unusual place. However, Ridley desperately wanted to find his special friend and set out to find him. Luckily, Ridley was much taller than the creatures of this new planet; he could look for his friend without bothering them.
After much time spent searching, Ridley smiled a big, wide smile. At last he found his special friend! Ridley could not be any happier. Politely, Ridley waited until his special friend had finished his conversation with one of the strange creatures of this planet. Maybe, Ridley thought, he could meet some of these creatures too after he spoke to his friend.
Ridley's special friend did not want to be his friend anymore.

I'd be really disappointed to see Lucas reduced to a costume.preferred his play style in brawl.

Sure, but Mega Man doesn't have a generic design. I have nothing against anime as a medium, but a large portion of the anime/manga industry has settled into a tedium when it comes to design. That's the kind of generic anime look I was referring to.
Anyway, I'm sure they're all great characters in their respective games. I'm speaking purely from a design perspective. Most of Nintendo's characters pass the sillhouette test (that is, you can tell who it is just from their sillhouette) with flying colors. Fire Emblem/Xenoblade characters, maybe just barely.
I think the rumored Alph and Koopalings actually make sense as alternate costumes (provided they also have their own names). Olimar's move set fits Alph to a tee, they have similar body shapes, and they both do the same goofy jumping taunts in the Pikmin games. Even though the Koopalings are different sizes and they have different personalities, none of that matters in Smash Bros. since the Clown Car is the true focus of the character.
On the other hand, Lucas was established in Brawl as his own character with unique attacks and taunts, and suddenly relegating him to an alternate skin would be a terrible idea. Nobody wins in that situation.

It's kinda surprising to me that Wario is likely going to end up as an unlockable character in the game, if the JP eShop roster pic is the definitive starting roster. It just feels weird, lol. You'd think a character as major as him would be right there at the start but I guess not.

Wario is the only Smash character that is a starter in the game he debuted in but then changed into an unlockable.
Personally, I'd switch Lucario and Toon Link with Wario and Ness, but that's just me. *whistles innocently*
