I am of the opinion that 40+ means we'll have more than 40 characters.
We already know about 49 characters, counting all Miis as one.
If its the final roster, we already have to play classic + all star 98 times just to beat it in one intensity setting
Why do you always write Shiek? Isn't it Sheik?
That's crazy talk.I am of the opinion that 40+ means we'll have more than 40 characters.
True.. but in Melee and Brawl, beating a mode with a character with transformation gave you multiple trophies at the same timeMay have to be 102 because the 3 different versions of mii fighters may have their own trophies to unlock

Well, who knows..True but Mii Fighters aren't a transformation so we really have no idea how Sakurai will define completion in Classic/All star mode with them
I'm suddenly finding my interest in SSB waning. Can someone re-hype me? Maybe it's just that we've been getting near-daily announcements about the game, big and small, for so long now, but I suddenly just feel like I already know everything about the game and the experience of playing it (like MK8) is going to lose its appeal after just a few weeks or so. Someone, please feel free to tell me I'm crazy. I was a huge fan of 64 and Melee and did not care for Brawl (I only played it once or twice but I just couldn't get into it at all).

I hope we do. What's more, I hope that every character comes with three interesting versions of itself - for example, Peach could have Peach, Paper Peach, and Striker Peach, while Pikachu could have Pikachu, Surfing Pikachu, and Balloon Pikachu.
We have 51 characters w/ Mii Fighters counted separately (and we can see that Sakurai does count them separately), which means that 40+ doesn't mean that the roster is finished w/ the addition of the remaining leaked characters!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine the Hades Treasure Hunt with 1000 panelsI REALLY hope Sakurai went insane with the challenge count.
I want 1000 fucking challenges plz
Well, if it's anything like MK8, at least you can expect a couple of DLC packs to boost interest when it wanes. Though it should take a lot longer for that to happen - we haven't been shown all that much of the trophies, challenges, music and custom moves you'll spend most of your time unlocking in the single-player portion, and improved netcode will make a world of difference to its longevity online.
That's a good point. Are custom moves something we expect to unlock? I do see challenges in particular holding my interest more than other aspects of the game.

Yes, we already know that Smash Run enemies may drop themThat's a good point. Are custom moves something we expect to unlock? I do see challenges in particular holding my interest more than other aspects of the game.

Knowing who the characters are and what moves they have is only half the battle!I'm suddenly finding my interest in SSB waning. Can someone re-hype me? Incidentally, my understanding is that with Brawl, we already knew just about everything going in? Is that an accurate statement?
Secondly, do you guys feel like we know as much about SSB4 3DS as we did about Brawl, and/or that there's a lot more to the game we don't yet know about?
Why are people saying the Wii-U version will add 5-10 more characters? That wouldn't make any sense at all and would only serve as a kick in the nuts to those who will only buy the 3DS version.
Why continuously stress about the character rosters being the same if it's not true?

Wii U version challenges will be harderAhhhhhhh
How wonderful
But seriously, Sakurai could have done challenges for EVERYTHING if he so desired.
Every single stage could have had its own set of challenges
You could have done a couple dozen trophies solely based around trophy unlocking!
Let's be honest, if Smash Wii U is releasing November as speculated, does that not leave the team with a single month to debug, add five fighters, and bring the game to gold status?
Seems farfetched in all honesty.
They should bring back those fight on a trophy challenges.
Yes we get it, you wanted Chico Time instead of Shulk Time. No need to go on about it.
I go to Ikebukuro Station everyday on my commute. I wonder which posters are there.
Nothing but Youkai Watch here in Nerima.![]()
Yeah, customs gotta be unlocked.
I feel there's still more we don't know about yet.
Yes, we already know that Smash Run enemies may drop them![]()
In the demos of Smash Run, items like Charge Shot (Melee) were listed among end-of-round rewards with things like trophies and hats, so it seems like we will have to unlock them. 8 extra moves for 51 characters should probably take a decent amount of time to collect.
Knowing who the characters are and what moves they have is only half the battle!
Playing them is a totally different experience. With 50 characters there's so much to learn, explore and practice... it could be a while before the experience really runs out.

Wait, is that Tin Pin Slammer?!
I SURE HOPE IT IS
And we also have that mysterious Team Mode thingy which showed up for a few frames in the Smash Bros Direct IIRC and then was never mentioned again...
Cool, thank you. I hope you're right!
I think the idea is more that the Wii U version will add more, and the 3DS will get them as DLC.Why are people saying the Wii-U version will add 5-10 more characters? That wouldn't make any sense at all and would only serve as a kick in the nuts to those who will only buy the 3DS version.

now that sounds realistic.I think the idea is more that the Wii U version will add more, and the 3DS will get them as DLC.
So many modes we dont know anything about..I had forgotten all about it. Shame it didn't get referenced during Menu Week, but we'll know soon enough.
So what would everyone think if this was the DLC
Isabelle
Ridley
Chorus Kids
Impa
Dixie Kong
Mewtwo
Lucas
Wolf
Ice Climbers
Great Tiger
From my understanding, the additional characters are already being worked on (which is why they were able to be shown to ash at PAX), but they won't be ready for the WiiU release. Rather, they're being saved for "Super Smash Bros 6", which is a WiiU DLC pack/exclusive New3DS game, since the 3DS can't handle characters like the Ice Climbers.Let's be honest, if Smash Wii U is releasing November as speculated, does that not leave the team with a single month to debug, add five fighters, and bring the game to gold status?

*If you're in Japan
Are people forgetting we are mostly EU/US here or has literally everyone wasted money on a foreign 3DS to play 3 weeks earlier?
