PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

That's the part that sucks. I don't think anyone in good conscious could blame Sony for dropping Vita if they gave it their all and sales were still horrendous. Many people feel short changed because Sony hasn't done that. It's become clear that after 2012 they gave up on it internally.

Just think about this: Vita will become the first PlayStation platform without an entry from SCE's most successful IP. That would be like Nintendo releasing a platform without Mario or Microsoft releasing an Xbox without Halo.

It is a damn same X(. I mean, they did try for the thing in 2012 (first party wise; Uncharted, Wipeout, Gravity Rush were great original games for the system and PSAS was a damn good port from the PS3 version) but just flat out gave up in 2013.

If they just did things many of us said (more bundles with big first party games....like what SCEE did last year with Killzone and Tearaway SCEA X(, working with 3rd parties day one to get big games on the platform, ADVERTISE the games on the platform, lower the prices of memory cards and the system earlier, ect), they system might have had a shot at success last year.

Now....its to late X(. At the very least, games are still coming and the library is very good, so I'm happy :).

While I never owned a PSP, I have to agree with you :D. Most of the PSP third party support was either JRPG's/Monster Hunter-esc games or ports from Western games (Madden and the like).

Wait wait wait. I hope you're talking about games that came out in English, because the Japanese games I played on the PSP for sure didn't look like mostly JRPG/Monster Hunter. Heck, the only MonHan type of game I saw back in the day is just that, MonHan. If anything, the Vita is lacking in variety compare to the PSP. Where are Yugioh, Saki, GGeneration for the Vita? Ace Combat? Idolmaster? 7th Dragon 2020? Kenka Banchou? Weiss Schwarz Portable? Yggdra Union series? Danball Senki?

Almost all series I loved on the PSP never came to the Vita. The indie can never replace them. At this point I'm even glad that they remade some PSP games for the Vita.

GT isn't really suited for handheld anyway, and I would question its current success. They did bring Uncharted, which is pretty much their most succesful and recognizable IP right now.

SCEE did bring Killzone and Tearaway, and those 2 bombed hard. Not strange that they pulled the plug afterwards. That does not take away the fact that Sony and SCEA in particular mishandled the Vita since the very day it was released. Because this is the case.

I made an edit on my original post stating how wrong I was, so sorry X(.

I didn't mean to insult the PSP's library, to me a lot of the indie games appeal to me more then the PSP's library (though I like to think that is changing; thanks to Gaf I appreciate JRPG's more and are a huge Persona fan :D).

Again, sorry for insulting the PSP library....big mistake on my part X(.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Wipeout 2048
Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
Lumines: Electronic Symphony
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend
F1 2011
Rayman Origins
Little Deviants
Army Corps of Hell
Asphalt: Injection
Super Stardust Delta
Ben 10: Galactic Racing

Michael Jackson: The Experience
Shinobido 2: Tales of the Ninja

Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack

These were all Vita launch games in North America. If you could pick one favorite after two and a half years since launch, which one would it be?

For me, it'd be Wipeout 2048, no questions asked.

I just found the news on "Earth Defense Force 2 Portable V2" for PS Vita!

What a wonderful library this console offers!

Would be Uncharted for me, seems like some People on Gaf really don't like it, but i enjoyed it!

For me, it would be Marvel vs Capcom 3, Rayman Origins and Uncharted.

MvC3U is a great fighter that is one of the best ports to Vita hands down :D. Rayman Origins feels amazing to play on Vita and it was one of the best showcases for how great games can look on the OLED screen. Uncharted GA did a very good bring the PS3 experience to the portable. Granted, it wasn't as good as UC2, but to be fair, nether was UC3 :).

Holy fuck that was a packed launch. I mean I knew that already but seeing that list in front of me....damn. Really puts in perspective the vita has no games bullshit. It had a killer lineup day 1 and a much better one now.

Anyway there's a lot of awesome games there but I think I'll go with Rayman Origins. Exclusive wise I agree with Wipeout.

I'd say more than half of those are already represented genre-wise on the Vita. If we're including JP-only games like in your list, the Vita already has a better library than the PSP at the same point in its lifespan IMO.

over 4 million units
Holy poop

Definitively Lumines: Electronic Symphony for me. I bought this at launch and still play it every now and then.

Planning to get a Vita tomorrow, any helpful links would be appreciated. Sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask.

I'm looking at the Tearaway bundle (1st gen Vita with OLED is still the way to go, right?), a memory card (haven't decided what size, yet), a PS+ subscription and some PSN credit. Anything I need to know about, anything I'm missing?

Go for the 64 GB card if you can. Trust me, the lower GBs fill up FAST. And yes, OLED is superior.

You're a good person. We all love you.

The problem was there was basically nothing for eight months after launch. There was Gravity Rush in June, and LBP in September, but almost literally nothing else. We all know the games started coming not too long after that, but it's easy to see where that stupid Vita has no games garbage came from.

Persona 4 Golden and Danganronpa.

You're pretty much all set. I would recommend a 64GB card if you can afford it. The digital offerings for the Vita are great.

EDIT: Also going to recommend Persona 4 Golden, DanganRonpa, Project Diva F, Akiba's Trip.

Wooo! Another Member for the Vita Family of Greatness.
Play Persona 4 Golden

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Wipeout 2048

Vita had no games.

Hot Shots for me, I think. Though, it's really tough to pick between that, Lumines, Super Stardust & Wipeout... and I didn't play Rayman Origins til the Vita version. It's what I bought with my system at launch, and it was fantastic.

Every week it was "drought drought drought" ad nausea... same mentality then, as it was through the first and 2nd year, as it is now - I don't buy any of the games, then complain that there is no games and nothing to play. No matter what came out and no matter how much, people won't buy it or acknowledge it. The mimetic plague of garbage logic in social media and games media was relentless.

Go for the 64 GB card if you can.

Soul Sacrifice Delta and Gravity Daze

These are good. I'd also recommend P4G, Dangan Ronpa, Muramasa, Tearaway, Hatsune Miku Project Diva f, Neptunia Re;Birth, and one of the Ateliers.

Well it had Unit 13 not long after launch and there were games like Mortal Kombat and Sound Shapes. And that launch was so packed people had a lot to choose from in the drought period. Compared to the other recent consoles the Vita had a fantastic library after 8 months.

Stop making sense, Gravity Rush was the worst Vita game ever and it wasn't released until a whooping four months after the Vita launch!

Best Vita exclusive until today.

There is a sale on the EU PSN right now with several Vita games:

Persona 4 Golden is there, too. Buy this :)

Wow, thanks for the fast responses, haha.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards 64GB, even though that seems to be a JP only import on Amazon.de. So, while I wait for that to arrive, would I be able to play a game in the meantime and create a save on the system or is there no internal memory whatsoever? Either way, I think the investment (and the wait associated with that) would be justified, considering I usually go pretty wild with downloadable games.

Thanks for all the recommendations, as well. I'm planning to get most of what you guys mentioned down the line. I usually get one more game to go with my console/handheld bundles, that's probably going to be Danganronpa in this case. Seems like TxK will also be on sale via PS+ in September, so that's probably a lock as my first PSN purchase.

Only counting those two games was always wrong and that's when moving the goal posts started as what counts as a game and what doesn't. I'd never even heard of logic like that before Vita.

There's 1GB of internal memory in the Slim. If you don't get a memory card with a bundle or play one of those mythical games that save on the cartridge, then no games on the OLED.

There is no system memory, no. You need a card to play. Also, yay for Danganronpa. You have excellent taste.

Those exist?!

Probably Rayman or Lumines. For as much shit I like to give Ubisoft, those were some awesome games.

TOTP: Danganronpa 2, obviously.
