PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Nice gets :D. Never played DoA before, but I loved Rayman Legends on my Vita :). Between the better frame rate it had over the Vita version of Origins (which very rarely dropped a few frames), dat D-Pad and OLED and the Invasion levels, the game was in my Vita for a long time :D. Never got the platinum though.....that challenge mode man X(.

Niiiiice. I love DoA 5+.

It'll be my first time playing a DoA game. I'm not much of a hardcore fighting game fan, but I'm hoping to dig into genre more.

As for Rayman, I tried it on PS4 and hated it. Loved Origins on Vita though so I figured I'll give it a second chance on my preferred platform.

isnt that free/cheaper on andorid

I think it's $2.99 on all platforms.

Transferring save files later should be easy, right?
It's more of a hassle than it should be, but it's not hard. It's just copying the things using your Vita to your computer after installing the content manager and then back.
I'd say go for the 64GB card instead of a temporary 4GB. The 4GB card will be pretty useless later if you don't want fast access to other PSN regions.
And welcome!

For the love of my account here in GAF, I'll just log-out before / during / after TGS so that I won't get banned. I can't watch it anyway since it would start at around 2pm here and I'm still at school at that time.

Stay safe, VitaGAF.

....I think it is a safe chance you might not like the Vita version :(. You hated the Murphy sections, right? If you don't like touch controls, then they are worse on Vita, as you have no control of Globox and have to touch/tilt the Vita like you would with the GamePad on the Wii U version.

You get some extra levels and costumes to use but they are mostly Murphy-centeric stuff.

Hope you like the game though :D. The normal stages in Legends are solid and the Invasion levels are awesome :).

For all the despondence around Vita's (non) showing in tonight's conference I'm actually also hopeful we'll start seeing some games to get me interested in a PS4.

Whoa, did I miss something? What would happen that would get you banned?

Eh, it was partly the Murphy stuff. I loved Origins because it was just pure platforming through and through, whereas what little I played of Legends just seemed to have more fluff (Murphy stuff, stickers, etc).

Hm, the content manager seems like an unnecessary step, but otherwise, doesn't sound too bad. Could you elaborate on the bolded? I can't rule out wanting to access other regions' PSN stores eventually so it might come in handy for that.

And thanks! :)

Okay, in that case, you might like the Vita version; the core game is the same from the PS4 version but the fact it's portable might be a nice factor :D.

The levels in Legends while visually varied, seemed to be less....platform-y then Origins? I know Origins was much harder the Legends, so maybe they eased up the level design so that new players might have an easier time jumping in :l?

Either way the Invasion levels are a blast and the re-done Origins stages are better (due to Legends improved controls/gameplay shining though here :D), so that is something :).

That's an awful top 10.
Every top 10 list is awful. Opinions an all that. I don't agree with the top 10 at all, but 8 of those 10 are games I think are great so all in all I cant complain too much. Actually that's not quite true. Sound Shapes is ok to decent, not great. So 7 great 1 good and 2 I've never actually played.

So I haven't tried this myself, but you can format (remove the memory card!) the system to choose a new PSN account (and different region), and I believe only one account can use one memory card. So instead of transferring all your games, saves and media from the 64GB (and then back, which takes a good while), you can use the 4GB to try out demos and such from a different PSN Store.

I had to control myself from having a huge meltdown when the type-0 fiasco happened.

The superior SSD is high up that list so that's a sort-of good list for me.

Content manager is mostly for piracy protection. It encrypts/decrypts games when you transfer them (and takes much longer than normal usb transfers as a result).

As for the 4gb, you can only have one account/region per memory card so he just means if you want to access other regions' stores later it could come in handy, but otherwise is too small to be useful.

Dokuro's a great game, especially for the $3 it's been at for almost a year now... but it's a pretty modest title to rank so highly, with GR way down at 25. (imo, IGN's Sony frontmen view that game the way they do MGS4 on PS3... pretend it doesn't exist in favor of Spec Ops)

That list is old, though, it came out right when Spelunky had been the hot topic as a new-to-Vita game. Soul Sacrifice had been out for a bit too, and wasn't even on there.

As someone who has to deal with region-lock on the 3DS on a regular basis, that almost sounds heavenly, haha.

Come to think of it, I haven't done any serious importing since the DS days (well, I still import DS games, actually). I'll have to find out what the Vita can offer in that regard. Puyo Puyo Tetris, I'm looking at you.

Yeah, it's a low investment so I might go for it. Never hurts to have a backup.

For all the despondence around Vita's (non) showing in tonight's conference I'm actually also hopeful we'll start seeing some games to get me interested in a PS4.

I hope Vita gets at least a 20 minute showing (last year was about 30 minutes) if only to see the childish tantrums of Vita haters everywhere.

About PS4 games, it will have more than enough for me. FFXV, KHIII, MGS:PP, Silent Hills, a new RE for sure, Rime and of course TLG (just before the PS5 comes out).

4gB is not enough to hold the latest Atelier game in full (can't remember if Ayesha or Scatology).

Yup, hoping I'll enjoy it this around. I probably will.

I should play it now.

Oh okay, I thought there was some forum drama or something I missed out on lol.

Ah, didn't see that GR was ranked at 25.

Another Minecraft-less week on Vita I expect. It now remains the only version that's not with the publisher for final cert testing, according to 4J's frusratingly scarce and vague Tweets.

I'm desperate for it man!

I know this is kinda out of nowhere, but I was going through my PSP games today and I found this little gem:

Oh Sony (or is it Konami?), why won't you put this or the Metal Gear Acid series on PSN?

Your in luck then :D. If you importing JP-only games, they work on Vita no matter what :). You can play them on your main account without any issues and you can even get the updates/patches for the games. The only issue is online passes and DLC, as you need to be on the same account the game came from (so a JP game with DLC needs a JP account with it).

With digital games, you have to reformat your Vita to switch accounts but that is the only hurdle. Once the formatting is done, log into the JP account and have a feild day :D. What I said above applies here (meaning digital JP games on a JP account can get the patches/DLC with no issue).

The best idea is to have a separate MC for the accounts (one for EU, one for JP, one for NA, ect) and format the Vita first, THEN put the MC in (then log into that account).

Hope this helps :).

My old acid UMD actually broke. It really is a shame I can't get it on vita.

Seriously. For what it was, Ac!d was a fun game. I never got to play the second one, though. I'd totes buy both if they were to put em up on PSN.

Loaded up on PSN credit again in case of any sales or upcoming games. Nothing until Senran Kagura (already have DR2).

I wonder if there will be a TGS sale this week. But ALL the RPGs on sale, Sony!

Gungho was supposed to be such a huge Vita supporter...

One game is enough to support a console, right?

:( Dokuro was such a nice game. One of those games I bought blindly and really enjoyed in short bursts.

IIRC, wasn't Picotto Knights supposed to be localized? The Japanese version ended up shutting down and everyone just kind of forgot about it.

Yes, it was. Not too long after Dokuro, as well. I kept bothering GungHo on Facebook about it, but gave up when they completely forgot about the Vita and started going on and on about P&D.

So I've had a PS4 for nearly a week now (got it on Tuesday), and so far I dint really see much of a difference between Xbox Live and PSN in terms of functionality. The switch from 360 to PS4 wasn't nearly as jarring as I thought it would be, if at all. I thought the download times would be bad, but as soon as I changed to Google's DNS, larger downloads were really quick.

So far, I have The Last Of Us, Fez, Road Not Taken, and inFAMOUS First Light. I absolutely loved TLOU, and First Light was really fun too. Fez was a pretty good platformer, but Road Not Taken wasn't really my thing. Still sitting on the edge of my seat for Minecraft, and I have Destiny on pre-order too.

You should check out Metro Redux. Here's a great trailer:
