Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

Eh, would seem a little silly to have both but if that's what it ends up being used for then I guess that's cool.
The option to randomly throw the selection marker is actually needed for an obscure side tourney format in Melee that was really silly. You needed to see who the game gave you before the match began so you could decide if you wanted to use your single reroll.

You earned it.

My first avatar quote. It couldn't have been of anything better. I suspected Shulk's Final Smash would be a Chain Attack with all of his party members, but it ended up being only two of them. It would be nice if they switched out sometimes, so Melia could get some representation.

Awww, I missed more Duck Hunt discussion. I love the loves that he's getting right now :)

Seriously. I’m glad that Sakurai decided to model the dog after the official Japanese art. He looks like an adorable dog and not the bipedal monstrosity that mockups tend to favor. The sprite of the dog laughing behind the bushes doesn’t mean that he should look like a dwarf in a mascot costume at all times.

Same here. I really appreciate the notions that they made the model based on Japanese game box's dog art and the sprites.

Ironically that's when Duck Hunt in fake leak stood out a lot for me. For example, No one ever gave Duck Hunt Dog and Ducks the name, Duck Hunt. People always coined, Laughing Dog, Duck Hunt Dog, Mr. Pepper, and Dog and Ducks. No one ever mentioned Duck Hunt ever since Smash 4 started.

Also other thing that stood out for me as well is that fan arts and models always portrayed Duck Hunt dog as bipedal character that can fighting with frontal paws and used a lot of special moves as if he's human. Leak's Duck Hunt Dog didn't. The picture implied that he is more likely to be quadruped fighter, along with a duck or more.

I have a highest res picture of Duck Hunt as I could find. Please take a look at Duck Hunt Dogs. Here the pictures that y'all can compare models.

He clearly still have black freckles ongoing for him on his cheeks and he still have black eye rings around his eyes, like Dog's sprites. Also you can see that he have black collars just like he did in NES.

Heck, I better see this animation as Duck Hunt's introduction.

Alright, back to topic. I would like to share other people's perspectives on Playable Duck Hunt Dog and you will see why it's different from leaked model.

Conclusion: Heck, if it's fake render or real model by Sakurai and the team, it's practically best take on Modern Duck Hunt's Dog and Duck. It was completely different from other models that I have seen over the time. Either, They have done fantastic job with the models and I would like to tip my hat off to everyone who got involved in this. :)

I'm still waiting for hard confirmation for Duck Hunt being playable before I set up my hype mode to highest.

P.S. Also I would like to bring up that Sakurai did mentioned that Nintendog and Villager wouldn't able to fight during Brawl Dojo. I suspected that Sakurai really intend to make a nintendog as playable character but there is a problem that Nintendog look so realistic so no one want to hurt realistic puppies.

I'm not sure why he didn't think of them in first place but I'm glad that he reconsidered trying to give a dog moveset a shot again but somehow he noticed that Duck Hunt actually have a dog in the game. He decided to give it an other attempt to make dog moveset to come to fruition. He succeed to give Villager a moveset and become playable character in Smash 4. Also we just saw Nintendog stage in E3 trailer so I assumed that Sakurai managed to find a way to bring Nintendog in. Few people convinced me that Nintendog didn't have a chance to become playable character so I held a hope that Sakurai might consider Dog from Duck Hunt and somehow make it work with Duck and Imaginary Hunter (Final Smash) Yeah, it's all speculations on my behalf.

Will this be his lose animation?

I'm not sure about that but I'm piqued with Dog and Duck's loser animation. I meant it's first quadruped character without any supporting hands to clap for victory winner. Ivysaur clapped with her vines.

I don't know about paid DLC for characters that were previously available in Brawl.

I still think ICs, Wolf and Lucas will be free DLC for the 3DS version and included with the Wii U version.

Oh no, what did I do!? I make one post before I leave, and then this happens?

Started xenoblade again this morning (after a 2-ish year hiatus! I restarted the whole game since I forgot most of it).

Can I just say how damn good this game is? One of the best JRPGs of all time, and almost assuredly the best one of the last generation.

It's fun to play, the story is good, the combat is fantastic, the world is HUGE and you can explore as much or as little as you want. You never feel lost, there are tons of 'mmo style' quests, but they're 'kill 2' not 'kill 15', and once you kill the 2, you immediately get the reward (no need to talk to the quest giver). There's also FAST TRAVEL. So good.

So so good.

Your words, they make me want to play Xenoblade, despite talk of it being 100+ hours and costing nearly as much money to buy

You guys convinced me. Ran out to Gamestop, got it "pre-owned," but it's practically brand-new, and less than $50. Pulled from the pocket dimension inside that one drawer to the right of the cashier that seems to somehow contain copies of every game ever.

-Strangely, Meta Knight's japanese page links to the Return to Dreamland site, but his US page has no link despite there being a US RTDL site. Thought this was odd since there are Wii games being promoted on the smash site that are several years older than RTDL like Other M or Punch Out Wii
Its because NOA isn't printing the game anymore. It feels weird to completely miss out on a Kirby game. :(

I also doubt it, but I just wanted to post the lesser known Duckhunt Dog post since it's from the arcade version. Since the loser pose if often about being a good sport and clapping for the victor it would be a bit out of place for dog to be shaking his fist at everyone.

I love Xenoblade so much that I eventually fell in love with the character faces.

Kind of the same, when I first started Xenoblade I was really put off by Dunban's face at the beginning of the game, but the more I played the more, the more I got used to it, I then eventually started to like them even.

Some characters didn't clap at all, like Brawl Ice Climbers..

Maybe the dog will have a completely different loser animation

Welcome to the club! Enjoy!

People seem to keep forgetting that Duck Hunt involves more than the dog.

Why not have the dog laying down and the duck standing on its back, "clapping" with its wings?

I found Dunban's face to be one of the least offensive examples in Xenoblade; though most of the cast looked okay from a distance. Far more disturbing were the characters' complete lack of nipples - though the SSB4 version of Shulk at least hints at them.

I read that post-it in Reyns voice for some reason. Made it 50x better.

I can never read Neiteio's posts in any other voice now.

That true, but the profit from paid DLC would be the best incentive for Nintendo to actually go through with it it.

Smash is a big, popular series, and it will undoubtedly be another 5-7 years until the next one. DLC and the Amiibos will be excuses to clone gold.

I think a really smart thing that Nintendo could do is offer character DLC for free on both systems, but with individual stage backs for 3DS and Wii U coming out at the same time as the characters. It's also in line with how Nintendo has done DLC in the past (offer a free thing as an incentive to get people to update and see the thing you have to pay for)

I just updated my Duck Hunt post if you want to read more.

Maybe it will clap with its ears.

Haha, he's not Dumbo.

I also doubt it, but I just wanted to post the lesser known Duckhunt Dog post since it's from the arcade version. Since the loser pose if often about being a good sport and clapping for the victor it would be a bit out of place for dog to be shaking his fist at everyone.

I'm aware of Duck Hunt arcade, but I don't think they would go with that kind of loser animation but we will see but it would be cool notion tho. Well, it would be interesting if we accidentally hit dog during Final Smash, and we would get the same result as you mentioned.

It didn't actually. It sat on its butt and clapped with its hand.

My bad. I just swear that I remembered him clapping with his vines. My bad.

I just want to say that Duck Hunt Dog is absolutly my favorite newcomer of the game.

THIS is what smash bros is.

Because everyone loves a good list ... here are my kist of favorite newcomers not coutning third party because third party are a bonus (but Pacman deserves to be in smash 300 times more than Snake)

Duck Hunt Dog
Wii Fit Trainer
Little Mac
Villager
Mii Fighters
Palutena
Robin
Greeninja
Rosalina
Bowser Jr
Shulk

I love how so much of the Mii Fighters fanart includes Nikki.

To be fair, she's the only Mii character. Everything else is user-created, but Nikki is a more or less fleshed out character. She is even given a basic personality. :)

I think there was another one in Mii Sports, but she doesn't have the same significance as Nikki does. Which reminds me, I need to download Swapnote at some point so I have her on my Plaza.

I really liked the idea of Bowser Jr being on a Koopa Clown Car, then seeing him in action sealed the deal on him being my favorite of the newcomer. Fast air speed, low frame and close to no lag aerials from the looks of it? I'm in. Helps that I actually like the character, but the Koopalings possibly being alts is even better.

I really like the newcomers this time around. Only ones I don't like are Palutena and Robin, but that's mostly from the gameplay we saw of them. Greninja and Wii Fit Trainer are two that I never knew I wanted.
