Sony Pre-TGS 2014 SCEJA Conference - Wait we're in Japan? [Over]

There was some Gravity Rush 2 stuff from TGS last year though. Maybe it wasn't in the main conference, but it was definitely was there.

That's what I'm referring to. The GR2 stuff from last year wasn't during the main conference, so I'm still hoping it'll be shown in the next couple of days.

Fuck you:
Ubisoft
Kojima. Die.
Square-Enix. Seriously. Who the fuck is in charge over there?

Kojima confirmed he will be showing more at TGS though. And MGSV has had a ton of gameplay shown for it unlike these VISUALS VISUALS VISUALS VISUALS

Putting KojiPro on the same level as Ubisoft and Squeenix is downright offensive.

You REALLY can't imagine why people are disappointed? Look at your list and what it is missing. The big games/exclusives people have been waiting for and ANYTHING 2014. A third of that list won't even leave Japan.

Anyone expecting anything for the next 3 months in Japan is delusional. We've said it before, current-gen in Japan doesn't start until 2015, they're behind the rest of the industry by a year+.

Also, this conference is for the Japanese audience. The whole point is those games.

Well ...... I will admit that put things into a bit better perspective.

However, unless they have more announcements planned for the actual TGS show. I still maintain that conference was weak. I will concede though, it wasn't a total travesty. Some decent moments there.

Ha ha. Sure.

I would put this above E3.

gee, i wonder why people are disappointed with a japanese conference aimed at the japanese audience.

hint: the same way the japanese couldn't give two shits about bungie and destiny appearing on screen, and ubisoft presenting their 3 aaa budget games.

The Kojima defense force :V

Yeah I figured once TGS fully starts we'll see some more MGS5 footage. This one was primarily for Sony to showcase some of its upcoming titles.

Imagine if they put this kind of effort into a FF musou. Holy shit.

That would be truly something.

Hey his segment in this conference was awful. But just in the grand scheme of things, KojiPro is doing great stuff. They had the cool E3 trailer, the 30 minute gameplay demonstration later on, and then the Gamescom gameplay.

Okay, this made me finally realize how little I care for Japanese games outside of FF, MGS, RE and Nintendo anymore, I guess :(

Nice!

Bladestorm
Touhou Project
Senran Kagura Estival Versus
Disgaea 5
Persona 5
Ys
DQ Heroes
and those lovely PS4 themes!

Got more than I hoped for.
FFXV and TLG could have been nice ;_;

It's Sony's pre-TGS show? What big games/exclusive people have been waiting for that's under SCEJ? Minna no Golf? It was announced.

15+ new games are dissapointing?

The conference was very badly paced, but the content wasn't poor. It's only poor if you don't give a shit about games that Japanese actually want.

Dude, many of those games either:

A) We already knew were coming. Like RE:Revelations 2 and RE:Remake

B) Didn't see any gameplay of. Like literally nothing.

C) Will not be released stateside.

D) Are a LONG ways off.

or

E) Just looked rather bland. A Dragon Warriors Musuo game? Really?

t wasn't as exciting as you're making it sound. I still wish Sony's Japan studio had come out in force. Where is this big RPG we keep hearing about? What is Polyphony Digital up to? All the rest of their Japanese developers? Surely Everybody's Golf can't be it?

I hope the actual TGS event unlocks some more secrets. That show just left you wanting more.

Okay, I've calmed down.

Okay conference, better than last year. Glad we got P5 on ps4, Ys looked good, nice to see a Bloodborne release date, and a final fuck you to Square Enix.

Gravity Rush 2 (Vita) needs to show up at TGS, what a letdown, it's the only title I was really expecting to see today.

Other than that I'm happy about the new Golf game, but I guess it's still far away?
And Persona 5 for PS4 is awesome!

Interesting conference, can't fault them for not being varied. The more interesting question is, what is gonna happen at TGS, more specifically what is Microsoft gonna bring. If this was Sony's hand, then it is gonna be interesting!

I'm sure to some people in Japan who don't follow E3 or Gamescom would be like "So many gameeeeeeeeees", but I bet the majority of gamers over there do check other major conferences so...

Ya despite some pleasant surprises here and there, overall it was horribad.

To think this was the purpose of those fucking stairs. Jesus lol

For real though, the conference had some cool stuff.

-Bloodborne release date
-Pervy Morpheus sim
-Disgaea 5
-God Eater 2 Rage Burst and on PS4
-Persona 5 trailer
-Yakuza 0 trailer
-Persona 5 on PS4
-Ys on PS4
-Touhou on PS4
-PS4 themes

There's quite a bit for Japanese gamers.

Lol, I know. I was fully expecting Hashimoto to walk down those stairs and announce two or three SQEX games. But this...omg..

Microsoft could show alpha footage of Scalebound and wind up with a better show at this rate.

Why would you think I was limiting it to just Sony published games? This wasn't just a SCEJ showcase. Look at the front page of GAF to see what games I meant. It should be clear.

No TLG, no Gravity Rush 2, No Yakuza in the west. Just kill me now.

Well ........ at least two out of three of those were expected (Yakuza and no TLG).

However, I was surprised to see no Gravity Rush. Its about time they showed a sequel for that.

Hell, they could've just done a HD Remake of the PS Vita game like they did for Tearaway.

I would be down for that.

Gaf will be Gaf though, so I never expect reasonableness in a thread like this. Very funny though reading all the posts, nothing like it.

Having said that, anyone who lives in Japan, was this a nice conference for people interested in PS4? Particularly with more announcements of games coming in two weeks?

It's hard to read into this thread sometimes.

- Complaints about western games already shown at E3/Gamescom. Er... contrary to misguided assumptions, Japan does not actively follow major western gaming news outlets. Remember back when Kojima had to explain to his Japanese viewers on his show what E3 was about? Western games need to be reintroduced to the Japanese audience again because Japan isn't as up-to-date on the global English speaking scene as you all would assume. Articles on 4gamer rarely have material on western games, for one.

- Assumptions that the show was ending soon. Last year was 2 hours. The year before that was also around 2 hours. SCEJA press conferences are LONG.

- Disassocation of content. Er, stuff like IM@S, waifu Morpheus, Senran Kagura, etc, have an audience in Japan that aren't as 'icky' about those stuff as the general western audience. This was positioned as a show meant solely for the SCEJA audience, and that is what it is.

- Localisation. No shit, this is a Japanese livestream. Sure, I will be bummed for those games that don't get localised to English, but that doesn't somehow make the announcements any worse just because you can't get to play it.

It isn't that bad when you look at what they announced. But wow was the pacing of this presentation bad. It was 2h long, felt like 6h and was interesting for 15 minutes.
