Persona 5 also launching on PS4, releasing 2015 ["waifu"/"husbando" crap = ban]

I literally just finished this anime about 10 minutes ago and yeah, P5MC reminded me of him too.

Really? I feel like MC has a more short/round face + his facial features are lot more softer. Then his cropped/curly hair + the big glasses that cover up almost his entire face. I can see the similarities, but I still think him + Zankyou No Terror protagonist still look more aggressive then him. But that's just me.

Honestly...this might be my most anticipated game of 2015.

For me, it's the ONLY game I can dedicate this much hype to. :P

Well, AtlusPrime, the Atlus PR guy, actually pointed this out:

so did i last page. yer killing me bro:(

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I kinda hope this game stays away from gimmick characters altogether. That goes for talking bears and robots :P

I'm okay with that. I've only played Person 4 Golden so my exposure to a darker Persona game is ziltch.

The main character's design...
I actually like the "wavy" hairstyle and it's always going to be a good looking dude, I don't care much about the clothing but those huge glasses... ugh... they almost single handedly kill it for me.

Yes. I want a mature cast, so all seniors with a couple of juniors.

I feel this game is gonna have a more SMT vibe than the others. Looking at those ads which may or may not be party members, they look like something out of Soul Hackers.

Oh, yeah, no question those two look way more similar than Ginoza. I just got reminded of him a little, not a lot, haha.

I get where you guys are coming from. I'm going to stop talking about his design now, just because I really think his personality is the final piece to all of this. And we won't get that for a while. :P

I have to say, having played all the Persona games on my Vita, this is going to be strange playing it on a console.

Considering the sim aspect of the modern games, I don't think that would go over too well. Just ignore those posts. Not like they'll dominate the thread when it gets made.

I think it is very possible to talk about cast members without ever using the words waifu/husbando/best girl or engaging in sometimes sexual arguements about who is better.

But I digress, as long as it doesn't get out of hand, I don't really care all that much.

Check out Persona 2 if you have some tolerance to gameplay that's a bit on the archaic side. The game is little dated but the storyline and setting should give you a good idea of what to expect from a more "serious" Persona game.

I've considered playing P2. Could you explain how it's archaic?

Is it like Nocturne?

Well depends if he/she's familiar with other JRPGs in general. My first SMT title was Nocturne and I loved it, but at this point I was already deep into FF games and korean mmos so it wasn't something entirely new. All depends on the person. I'm just putting it out there :)

That's true, if you're accustomed to RPGs than Nocturne being someone's first SMT game shouldn't be all too bad.

Nocturne is my favorite game in the franchise and one of my favorites ever, if someone wants to play it I'd never tell them not too.

To add to this, Persona 2: EP is the serious one. Persona 2: IS is a very silly game, with a few dark beats, similar to Persona 4.

(Persona 2 is a duology: Part 1 is Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Part 2 is Persona 2: Eternal Punishment)

Sort of yeah. Dungeons are bigger and you have to do them in one go, battle system is a bit more unforgiving, and so on.

P2 EP is still by far my favourite game in the series.

I really need to get back to playing EP but I know I'm just gonna be running in a circle hoping to bump in to the right demon so I maybe might have a chance at getting the tarrot cards I need.

I like P2 but the fusion system is hot garbage.

It's sort of like Nocturne in the sense that you have to chat up demons to get tarot cards, which then allow you to summon new Personae. What sucks is that you often need to farm them in order to get the better demons.

It also has random battles and a pretty high encounter rate. The battle system has a really cool tag team spell mechanic but is pretty bare-bones otherwise.

If you can live with that, P2 is pretty awesome.

I don't get the hate for his glasses.
I quite like them tbh...

YOU YOUNGSTERS JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU GET OLDER AND NEED GLASSES AFTER SITTING IN FRONT OF SCREENS AND PLAYING GAMES ALL THE TIME! :<

don't say contact lenses. what are you, an insecure Teenager or what?! :p

I've never played a Persona game before, should I start one up before 5 hits?

and if so, which one?

While each title is standalone (with the exception of Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment), I would recommend playing Persona 3 and Persona 4 - if possible.
