Looks like they screwed around the character arrangement in the website. I'm pretty sure Zard should be beside Greninja, etc.

Because recovery is already used for something completely different in Smash Bros terminology (Getting back to the stage).

Agreed, and I think this applies to every smash "group" out there. Smash 4 is gonna be a wild ride from a community standpoint. Even without all the talk of competitive vs casual and whatnot, if this game has a competent online mode, there will be so many communities all pushing different ways of play.

Some are gonna wanna play with equipment, some are gonna wanna play with customized movesets, some are gonna wanna play with items on, some are gonna wanna ban most of that. Whats crazy is that with online all of these communities can have places for them to get together and organize tourneys/smashfest/etc.. and develop their metagames.

Of course that is, IF the online isn't terribad.... PLZ SAMURAI
 
I think we may see Wario in these final nine PotD before JP launch. Logic being that the remaining 10 characters yet to be revealed make pretty solid secret characters if the past is any indication, and he seems to be the outlier.

Depending on the starting roster, yes I'll be playing online For Fun and For Glory.

If Palutena isn't starting then I'll be trying to unlock her as well as Ness and some others.
 
I don't hate any of you, I'm just so sick of people hating on Brawl and possibly Sm4sh because its not good enough for tourney's.
Its the reason why I hate Project M, had to make it like melee, cause its the perfect Tourney smash game.

Just annoys me.

Smash is great because everyone can enjoy it in their own way-endless customability will do that for ya!

Just because some people play it a way you don't like doesn't mean people should only play it your way!

What's being described in the SmashBoards thread posted... isn't it just normal autocancelling? The same as in 64, Melee, and Brawl?

I like playing smash and I get that some want to play it at a competitive level. I don't really understand this perspective. Why should we not hope for the game to be similar to our favorite Smash game, to be the best Smash Bros. it could be?

Smash leaves these options up to the player for a reason. Some things like items and wacky stages are (to me, and a small and obnoxious community) are not very fun. So we turn them off to maximize enjoyment. Is that strange? At it's core Smash puts players/characters against one another. Trying to learn to win as often as possible is a natural extension of the competitive foundation that the entire game is built upon. When trying to get better at the game, it makes perfect sense to turn off elements that try to minimize the efficacy of skilled play.

What do you mean by 'change an entire game', the PM situation? Yeah, that is pretty weird. It's because the series itself is in a weird place. One of the games is particularly popular for it's in-depth gameplay mechanics, while the later sequel(s?) try specifically not to cater to the people that enjoyed that game. So portions of the dedicated fanbase love the series, but dislike the direction it took. And the Wii happens to be pretty open for mods.

The love and frustration Melee fans have with Brawl isn't weird to me, but it is really amazing that something on the scale and quality of PM actually happened.
 
People are allowed to enjoy smash any way they want to. I like playing it competitively and so do others. We have a good time and a lot of us are good people. One group hating another group is immature and I don't get it.

Don't listen to the haters, enjoy playing the game as you see fit!

The "brawl sucks" crowd is a vocal minority.

This is what I think. I'm very skeptical of that SmashBoards post. It's not very convincing, even with D1's endorsement.

Auto-canceling is exactly what the name implies, while what the SmashBoards thread is describing is canceling lag through an input (dash, shield, attack). Essentially a more fleshed out version of l-canceling.
 
Well, it wouldn't be smashGAF without the drama!
At least this debating proves that smash is still a well-loved and strongly important game to a lot of people!

Well, believe it or not there are people in the competitive community who also dislike the negativity surrounding Brawl and SSB4. We just try to ignore them. :(

Also, Project M was more like trying to make Brawl into a smash game that follows Melee. While Brawl is its own thing, PM is like a follow-up to Melee and its dev team has stated that their goal isn't to make "a better Smash game" but to make a Smash game that provides the kind of depth and advanced play that Melee offers. I hope this clears things up a bit.

Thisthisthis. My absolute favorite part about Smash is that it is a celebration of everything Nintendo. The company has produced such an exciting, colorful cast of characters, and I've made countless memories with their games over the years. Is the game missing some characters that I would have liked to see in Smash? Sure. But will I enjoy the hell out of the game regardless? You bet.

Everyone has their preferences. I spent more time on Brawl than I did Melee, and I think it's the superior game in every aspect EXCLUDING how it plays. I'm hype for Smash 4, and even if it's not as fast or technical as Melee, I'm still going to have tons of fun with it.

Don't be bothered by people enjoying a video game for different reasons than you, man. Life is too short.
 
I don't care how someone enjoys or plays a game.

Just don't act like your way is the only and best way and basically be a dick about it to others who don't share your views on it. Also don't act like everything need to be catered to your playstyle.

I hate the entitiled game shit but some people really makes it hard not to agree w/ at times.

Me personally...It's more Smash and that alone is good enough.
